The Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos (Paphos) is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus. Since 1980, it has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is important to note that Paphos was the capital city of Cyprus between 2nd Century BC and 4th Century AD. The park is extremely huge and the entrance fee (€4.50) is truly worth the money and time! My favourite site is the Villa House of Aion with its marvellous and most detailed mosaics on display, dating from 4th Century BC to the Middle Ages. Archeological Park is one of the main touristic attraction in Paphos, Cyprus. This archeological side is a UNESCO world heritage. It shows the remains of the city of 4th century BC. Some mosaics from Roman villas are still visible and we can enjoy their beauty. Here you can see the main structure of the city of that period of time, streets and the rests of the houses are there. These include: House of Dionysus – this is a preserved ruins of a Roman villa dating to the 2nd, century known for colourful mosaics of Dionysus. It’s not clear whether only romans lived there and is believed wealthy native Greeks also could have inhabited the house. The mosaic floor from the House of Aion is considered one of the most exceptional works of ancient Roman art, if not the only work of its kind. House of Theseus – this exceptionally large villa was the residence of the Roman proconsul or governor, and was divided between rooms for official functions and those for private use. #paphos
