Orcia Valley: Two Stunning Spots to Visit
📍 Viale di Cipressi
SS2, 53023 Castiglione d'Orcia SI, Italy
When you think of the Orcia Valley, the iconic rows of cypress trees come to mind! While there are many spots with cypress trees, this particular location is the most popular due to the beautifully arranged trees 😍.
Visitors here are very considerate, patiently waiting in line to take their photos 🫶. The tourists in Orcia Valley are known for their good manners 💓, often helping each other by taking turns to snap pictures 🫶.
🚗 This spot is so popular that even tour buses stop here, and there’s a free parking lot available.
⛪️ Chapel of Vitaleta
A small, solitary chapel perched atop a hill, this is another iconic view of Tuscany.
The chapel looks different depending on whether you view it from the front or the back, and both perspectives are equally stunning.
When I visited in early May, the back of the chapel was surrounded by blooming yellow flowers, creating a picturesque scene. Amazingly, even at 7:30 PM, the area was still bright. In May, the sun sets around 8:30 PM in Tuscany, so at 7:30 PM, the golden glow of the sunset illuminated the fields, making them shimmer beautifully.
Despite its popularity, the chapel wasn’t crowded at 7:30 PM, although the parking lot was full.
From the free parking lot, it’s about a 7-minute walk along a gravel path to reach the chapel. Since there’s not much else to see in the area, you’ll likely spend about 10 minutes here.
