It's both boisterous and happening, in terms of atmosphere, and I love the liveliness of the place. Many different food stores can be found here at Chillva market and all your local snacks and food are sold at extremely affordable prices. It is also a shopping heaven with many shops selling accessories to clothes, swimwear and even shoes. You won't get bored at Chillva market and I guarantee spending hours here. When we think of places to visit in Phuket, what comes to mind are Patong, Kata, Karon, etc. On my last visit to Phuket, I visited Chillva Market, a true hidden gem. Not many tourists know about Chillva Market. It's nowhere as popular or widely-known as Bangla Walking Street, or the other popular night markets around Patong or Kata. Chillva Market is located in Phuket Town, about a 20-25 minute drive from Patong. It's widely visited by locals, so (much!) cheaper options when it comes to food and clothing. It's a HUGE market with so much to see and do. You'll see a large range of foods, from traditional thai favorites to dim sum, to sushi, and of course to many hipster foods like Thai Milk Tea Mochi (which was heavenly). The non-faint hearted should try the bugs! There were so many clothing shops. There were also stalls and vendors selling lots of artisanal and personalized products at very affordable prices. Apart from these, there are also live band performances and a large, open space with lots of tables to sit down and enjoy your food comfortably. There's also something for the nightlifers - a good amount of bars with great music and cheap booze! Overall, Chillva Market is a must-visit in Phuket. This market was unlike any other I visited in Phuket. It was bustling on a weekday evening despite the recent change of weather to a drizzle and the atmosphere was festive. A live band was playing. Clothing and jewelry stalls were packed with items that were of higher quality than the ones I had seen at other markets, and the food options catered to a wide variety of dietary preferences. So what should you get? Definitely get the beef kebabs with pineapple, green pepper and tomato. The flavor was amazing! If you don’t go for meat, then give the “baby pancakes” a try. They were warm, fluffy, remarkably cute and different syrups were available for drizzling over them. The grilled pork you see amongst my pictures was packed with flavor too, but, once again, if that isn’t for you, there were several stalls with halal products. Bars and a massage parlor were available too. Frankly speaking, it’s hard to imagine anyone walking out of Chillva market hungry or disappointed.
