I flew over 1,000 kilometers just to have a conversation across time and space. Chongqing Dayuanxiang Museum—a small, hidden museum of Ba Yu culture nestled in the mountains. It’s known as the “Dunhuang on Wood.” Getting up close to the exhibits is an experience that truly shakes the soul.😭 The museum consists of 8 exhibition halls covering 53 acres. The original site was once the Tianfu Bowl Factory, established during the Xianfeng era. It now houses tens of thousands of Ming and Qing dynasty wooden sculptures, as well as various ancient doors, windows, and furniture from those times. After finishing my exams, I took a trip to Chongqing. The twenty-plus hours on a hard seat train from Changsha was a bit exhausting, but as soon as I arrived in Chongqing, all my fatigue disappeared. Touching down right as the city hit its “golden hour,” the view out the window felt like the opening scene of a film. I chose to stay at Donghewan Hotel in the city center—super convenient for both metro and monorail, so chasing spots was effortless. The lobby and room designs were also incredibly photogenic.
