#Dubrovnik City Walls Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
【Dubrovnik, Croatia Travel Guide】
Are you attracted by the ancient city with red roofs, the blue sea and the beauty of the islands? Then, Dubrovnik in Croatia is definitely one of the travel destinations you can't miss in your life!
✨Walk on the city wall: Climb the ancient city wall, go around the old city, feel the magnificent scenery, you will be shocked! At sunset, the scenery is even more incomparable.
✨Take a cable car to the top of Srd Mountain to watch the sunset: You can go to the top of the mountain from the cable car station outside the north gate of the ancient city, you will see a 360° panoramic view of Dubrovnik, with beautiful scenery in your eyes. Then have a sunset dinner at the highest restaurant in Dubrovnik, it's so romantic!
✨Wandering in the ancient city: Truly feel the history and culture of Dubrovnik, walk into those narrow alleys, climb those steps with a sense of history, visit various relics, it will definitely leave a deep impression on you.
✨Sea activities: Experience water activities such as kayaking, enjoy the fun and challenge of the sea.
✨Special experience: Find the shooting spots of Game of Thrones, explore the scenes in the drama, it's also a lot of fun!
✨Accommodation suggestions: Because the roads in the old city are mostly bluestone roads, they are not accessible by car, and there are hundreds of steps to enter and exit the city, so it is not recommended to live in the old city. It is recommended to stay in a hillside homestay facing the sea outside the old city, with direct access to the highway, and overlooking Dubrovnik.
✨Itinerary planning: It is recommended to plan a 3-day itinerary, D1 visit Banje Beach and the fortress, then take a cable car to the mountain for a sunset dinner; D2 visit the old city and the city wall; D3 experience sea activities such as kayaking.
✨Best season: The climate is pleasant in May-June and September-October, and there are relatively few people. July-August is hot and crowded with high prices, but the sea water temperature is good. It's cold and rainy from November to April.
I hope this guide can help you! Get ready to start your dream trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia!💖✈️🌊

In Croatia, you can try some local dishes, such as grilled fish and potato stewed beef. Croatian grilled fish is very fresh, after several hours of slow roasting, the fish is tender and juicy, and it is even more delicious with wine. In addition, Croatian potato stewed beef is also very famous. It is made by slow stewing potatoes, beef, spices and red wine. The taste is rich and it is very suitable to be eaten with rice. If you like desserts, you can try Croatian chocolate cake. It is made of rich chocolate, vanilla and cream. The taste is silky and delicate, very delicious.
[Traveling around Eastern Europe] Dubrovnik
two-kilometer wall for three hours, I am right in the wall control.
It feels more common to walk in the city, but finding a commanding height, such as a wall, a seaside fortress or a mountaintop, is completely another scene. The beauty of Junlin City needs to be seen from a height.
Traveling with American TV is also a good choice.
Dubrovnik Raiders
In the old town of Dubrovnik, a night of night comes to a new round of life. Every restaurant is doing its best to showcase their chic candlelight dinners. Europeans spend a lot of time dining. Friends come to dinner every night to have a drink and spend time chatting with each other. This elegant and not lacking nightlife is enchanting, after dinner. You can take a walk on the Adriatic Sea.
Eastern Europe | There is a hidden beauty called Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is located at the southern end of Croatia in Eastern Europe - it is King's Landing from 'Game of Thrones'!
The sunshine here generously scatters across the red-tiled roofs, 💥 paired with the boundless azure sea, instantly filling the seaside town with freshness and romance.
-
🤔The best way to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dubrovnik is to ✅ take the cable car to the top of Mount Srd near the panoramic view - or walk along the ancient city walls, meandering through the old streets, 🚶 passing by the time-worn monasteries, exploring the grand and spectacular Baroque churches, as well as the magnificent Sponza Palace... Turning a corner, 🙈 you might just stumble into a scene straight out of 'Game of Thrones'.

⏰What's the best season to travel?
The peak season is from June to August, with temperatures around 28 degrees matched with about 35 degrees, suitable for swimming, and it's the peak of European travel! Hotel and flight prices are relatively high. April-May and September-October are not peak season, the weather is not hot, but the downside is that you can't swim. The rest of the time is the off-season~ During this period, many restaurants will not be open, and there will be fewer choices. Dubrovnik·Opcina Dubrovnik
Game of Thrones Conquest, the Croatian coastal frenzy travel guide
Because of an American TV series, Croatia has become one of the most focused tourist destinations in the world. In the king of American TV series, Game of Thrones, the capital of the continent of Westeros, King's Landing, was filmed in the southern coastal city of Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The azure Adriatic Sea and the red roofs of the ancient city walls form a natural painting, beautiful from any angle. If you choose a homestay on the mountain, you can overlook the entire castle, but going up and down the stairs is really tiring. You can stay in Dubrovnik for two days; the city is actually not that big.
From Dubrovnik, there are two routes: one going south to Montenegro, about a 5-hour drive to the famous tourist city of Kotor; the other is the northern route I took, heading north along the Croatian coastal cities. Additionally, to the northeast of the city, you can go to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also a famous tourist city.
After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Croatia occupied most of the coastline, hence the nickname 'Coastal Frenzy'. When taking the bus north, you will pass through Neum, the only coastal city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where police will come on board to check passports, and it will be over soon, making you feel sorry for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The northern route is Dubrovnik—Split—Trogir half-day tour—Zadar—fly to Pula—Rovinj, then take a car to the capital Zagreb, and then you can go to Koper in Slovenia, or Trieste in Italy, the latter being a larger city, recommended by the ticket seller for me to stay. Long-distance bus luggage is charged extra, but not much, Croatia is a bit expensive, and taxis are not cheap.
Key cities: In addition to King's Landing, Split is the second-largest city and a historic city with many Roman ruins; Trogir and Šibenik are both Game of Thrones filming locations, and if you have limited time, it's okay not to go; Zadar is known for the world's most beautiful sunset, and the small town is very distinctive.
I didn't go to Croatia's Jiuzhaigou, Plitvice Lakes, but flew directly from Zadar to the Pula Peninsula, where Pula has complete ancient Roman amphitheater ruins; Rovinj is also particularly beautiful, with the castle right on the sea.
Overall impression: Very stunning at first glance, especially the beautiful seascape and city, but after walking a lot, it feels the same and a bit boring. Overall, there are no bad places along the Adriatic coast, Montenegro, Slovenia are all extremely beautiful, worth visiting again and again.
People in the former Yugoslavia are tall and handsome, no wonder they have produced talents in the three major balls and tennis.
Walking on top of ancient walls
The city walls of Dubrovnik mean a great deal to the region’s local people, representing the skilled engineering of their ancestors and the care with which generations of residents have taken to preserve the walls.
I bought a tourist pass for 35€ with the main intention of doing the Dubrovnik walls walk (since the price of the walk is already 35€) and the pass includes other attractions.
Overall, it was an interesting experience, though it was not cheap.
The next destination I would like to visit is Hong Kong to check out all the delicious food and nightlife.

【Travel Tips】
Day1: Panoramic view from the mountain top➕Stroll through the old town
All the panoramic photos above are taken from the mountain top. You can either drive up the mountain or take the cable car from the old town to the top. Remember to go in the morning for the best lighting, just like in my pictures. In the afternoon, the light is against you and you won't get the same feeling. Spend the afternoon slowly wandering through the ancient city, where there are also many unique shops, and enjoy a happy afternoon browsing.
Day2: Walk along the city walls
Buy a ticket, climb the city walls, and you can see the entire old town. The ticket allows you to visit five spots. It's recommended to first visit the museum and other places, and save the city wall walk for last to stay until sunset, as this order is better.
—
【Accommodation Tips】
If you are driving, it's better to stay a bit further away, as you can't drive into the old town, and dragging suitcases is troublesome with many steps. Parking nearby is also very expensive. If you have less luggage, staying near the old town is more convenient.
—
Overall, staying in Dubrovnik for 2-3 days is quite suitable.
Driving is more convenient, but the speed of the cars here is very fast, which can be annoying and dangerous for new drivers
marceline_aurelia_silverwood A Tour of King’s Landing@Dubrovnik, Croatia
A fan of Game Of Thrones? Then we are speaking on the same page. This city is considered one of the best recognizable filming locations for the Game of Thrones series.
On historical lessons, visitors can sign up for this old town walking tour to learn from the local guide about Dubrovnik’s history at the same time admiring the fascinating landmarks inside the medieval walls (which is what I did☺️).

MUST VISIT IN DUBROVNIK
Dubrovnik is a very popular place for tourists especially you can find lots of Americans there lol
I stayed in a hotel which is a 20-min walk from city centre. It was affordable! There are lots of restaurants and gelato places in the old town. The most interesting thing is definitely the city wall! You can walk upstairs and enjoy the view of Dubrovnik! It was nice and roasting there! Be prepared lol
The place where I have been to and remembered to go again, first of all, Dubrovnik. Fans of "Game of Thrones" must be familiar with this place. This Croatian port city is located on the Adriatic Sea and in the Middle Ages was the capital of the Republic of Ragusa. Now walking around the city can see the monuments left in various historical periods. Of course, it is a tourist in the year~
taking the cable car up the mountain and looking at the blue Adriatic Sea. Walked a section of the old city wall of Dubrovnik, more than three kilometers in length. Some of them were later rebuilt. The most interesting thing about this ancient city is that it is said that every family has hidden five flags! Not two sides but five! surface!
Dubrovnik City Wall
The city wall of Ducheng is not simple. It is the most intact wall in the world. After climbing the wall, the line of sight suddenly becomes brighter and the feeling of depression surrounded by the wall no longer exists~/ Hh/
Who can think of this place surrounded by the city walls, experienced three wars before and after the Eastern Roman Empire, the Republic of Venice and the former Yugoslavia, especially the Yugoslav disintegration war 91 years ago, after seven months of shells Baptism, the city was severely damaged.
The tenacious Croats have regained their prosperity and beauty in just over a decade.
Dubrovnik's most magical landmark, Old Grad, the HBO hit show Game of Throne right in King's Landing. It really doesn't need any computer effects, it's completely magical, and it feels like it's copy and paste from the demon god game.
Pile Gate, the west side of the ancient city, is the first choice for entering the city. Old Grad originally had four Gates, but currently there are only two of them. From the Pile Gate into the city, the most sensation, here you will feel that if you don't wear the medieval century clothes, you will completely cross. Inside the Pile Gate, it is also the place to buy tickets for the upper wall. There is no shelter on the wall, and the sun is strong in the sea. Therefore, it is not recommended to climb at noon in the sunny days. The most beautiful time of the wall is in the evening when the sun sets, standing on the wall to see a complete smooth light.
The ancient city wall walked a circle, and the slow speed took about 2 hours. If you go faster, you have to go for an hour. The seniors who have been to you will advise you to go counterclockwise, because the light of the whole process is the best, and when the sun is about to fall, you can reach the highest point of the ancient city Mineta Tower. Bathed in the last gentle light of the setting sun, overlooking the entire ancient city at the highest point, will be the climax of your entire city wall tour.
When you come to the Old City of Dubrovnik, you must go to the city wall. The wall of Dubrovnik is the most perfect wall defense system in medieval Europe. It has never been attacked by the enemy.
The entrance to the city wall is about 150RMB. There are three sections in the city wall walk. Each section must be inspected once. It takes about 3 hours to complete the journey.
A person walks on the wall, quietly can only hear the sound of the sea. The red house and the Adriatic Sea are incomparably romantic. Tickets for
city walls can also go to Fort Lovrjenac, but you can't enter at 4pm, if you are going to go early.
Dubrovnik, the great playwright Shaws eyes in the eyes of the heavens, the pearl of the Adriatic in the large poet population, the back garden of the people of Western Europe, is the most shining place in the Croatian territory, its It is even more famous than the capital.
The mottled lines on each of the masonry walls seem to have written stories.
The wall of Ducheng is not simple. It is the most intact wall in the world. It completely encloses the whole ancient city, as if it is blocking the time outside the city. The city still retains the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
Many people in China say that Europe will naturally think of the developed countries of Western and Central Europe. In fact, Eastern Europe also has many hidden heavens. Many of them have become emerging tourist attractions in Europe. The famous British playwright Shaw has said that if you want to see what heaven is like, go to Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is a port city in southeastern Croatia and is a world-famous tourist destination. Red-roofed cottage, blue sky and white clouds. Picturesque beauty can really leave your heart behind.
