Nanxun Ancient Town Travel Guide
1. If arriving before 4 PM on the same day, it's not recommended to purchase the combo ticket.
2. Yiyuan Garden is newly renovated and not worth visiting, which is why the combo ticket isn't recommended.
3. If staying near the South Gate, visit Xiaolianzhuang and Jiaye Library on the same day. If time permits, go to Zhang Shiming's Former Residence. Otherwise, head directly to Baijianlou for dinner and enjoy the night view.
4. If staying near the East Gate, visit Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence first, then proceed to Baijianlou for sunset.
5. On the second day, explore Liu's Ladder House, Guanghui Palace, and the Silk Guild Hall.
Among these, Guanghui Palace, Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence, and Xiaolianzhuang are must-visits.
Guanghui Palace features calligraphy by Su Shi (Wang Xizhi's was destroyed).
Zhang Jingjiang, a revolutionary sage of the Republic of China era, is worth seeing.
Xiaolianzhuang is truly beautiful.
Liu's Ladder House was once the home of Zhuang Tinglong, whose family was raided by Wu Zhirong in Jin Yong's "The Deer and the Cauldron," a famous literary inquisition case during the Shunzhi era.
6. Boat rides: If planning to visit Wuzhen, it's not cost-effective to take a boat in Nanxun. The only worthwhile boat ride is the ferry from Shizigang Pier to Silk Pier for just 3 yuan, departing every half-hour—great value.
