I went to Hotel New Otani Osaka. As it is a five-star hotel, there are many photo spots, so I will introduce three particularly wonderful spots. 1. The carpet overflowing with dignity in front of the elevator on the guest room floor and the view of OBP from the window are wonderful. 2. The open atrium at the front desk is luxurious and gorgeous! There is also a lounge. The afternoon tea is delicious. 3. The boutique street on the first floor of the hotel has a Showa-era feel, but is also bubbly and luxurious. #staycation On my most recent trip to Osaka, Japan, I got to spend 2 nights at the highly-acclaimed New Otani. The New Otani has been in the local hotel industry for a while, and is well known among travellers. This hotel offers great views of the Osaka Castle too. I opted for the Deluxe Double Room with a view of the Osaka city skyline, which was quite nice at night. The room was adequately sized at 30sqm, and came with an ensuite bathroom. I personally am not a huge fan of combined bathtub/showers, but for the short stay, no complaints. The room was well-appointed, clean, and had generous amenities. Fun fact: including the lounge and bar, there are 15 food and beverage options - a huge variety, so be spoilt for choice. I recommend Mikan for a romantic dinner and drinks, or Fujio for good sukiyaki. P.S. do note that staying guests also have to pay ¥5000 to use the pool, while guests with visible tattoos are not permitted to use it or the gym (I am heavilly tattooed, but I didn't mind. I stayed at Hotel New Otani Osaka. As expected of a star-ranked hotel, the service from the front desk was excellent. Unusually, I was shown to my room. Although I stayed in a low-grade double room, it was spacious enough to relax in. It might have been even better if I had had a castle view room. (You can see Osaka Castle!!) My stay at the Hotel New Otani Osaka was truly unforgettable. Located in Osaka's Chuo Ward, right next to Osaka Castle Park, the hotel's location couldn't be better. It's about a 3-minute walk from Osakajokoen Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line and a mere 3 minutes from Osaka Business Park Station on the subway Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line, making it incredibly convenient. The hotel has a slightly old-fashioned yet grand style. The view of Osaka Castle Park right outside the window instantly put me at ease. The lobby is luxuriously decorated, and the staff, from the entrance to the main hall, are incredibly welcoming and polite, always ready to assist guests. The room layout is also quite spacious. Our room, while a bit dated, was impeccably clean, especially the bathroom, which looked almost brand new. Despite the outdated decor, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water 👍. The view from the room was also fantastic! 🏯 Although you need to walk to the window and look to the right, the majestic view of Osaka Castle is well worth it. The windows can be opened, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and the scenery, which is an absolute treat. The room is well-equipped with a small sofa, a work area, and a conveniently designed bathroom. While the breakfast is a bit pricey, it offers a wide variety of Japanese and Western options. There are numerous restaurants and cafes around the hotel, especially in the nearby commercial area, providing a wide range of dining choices. We had breakfast at nearby restaurants every morning, enjoying the variety and affordability. Shopping is also very convenient, with a convenience store right next to the hotel and more shops just a few minutes' walk away. Of course, there were a few minor drawbacks. Some of the room's facilities are a bit old and could use an update. However, these small imperfections are easily overshadowed by the hotel's overall excellence. If you have very high expectations for accommodations, you might be slightly disappointed. Another minor issue is that the area around the hotel is quite peaceful at night, lacking in activities. On the day of my stay, there was a concert opposite, so the plaza was quite crowded. Both the lobby and the room designs are very classical, or in other words, old—very old. The staff helped with the luggage and showed how to use the key. It's hard to imagine that a five-star hotel still uses keys to open doors, and the elevator does not require any authentication, making the security somewhat average. The room was quite spacious with moderate lighting. The bed was not made very neatly, but the overall cleanliness was acceptable. The size of the TV, the retro style of the bathroom and shower, all reflect the hotel's frugality (I initially thought the TV was small because it was old, but it actually supports Netflix 😂). In terms of the view, you can see the Osaka Castle keep. This reminded me of the view of the Forbidden City from the Renaissance Beijing. Similarly, it’s a distant view. What's more unique is the nearby Yomiuri TV building—you can see a large satellite dish, and there is a beautiful garden below. The most ingenious part is that the building's angle is just right, not blocking the view of Osaka Castle. All these factors combined make it quite peculiar. However, it is worth mentioning that it is very quiet here at night. The street leading to Osaka Castle Park Station is sparsely populated and dimly lit. Although there is a Lawson convenience store nearby for shopping, it is advisable to be cautious when going out at night. Like other five-star hotels in Japan, newspapers are provided in the morning, hung next to the door. Thoughtfully, the hotel arranges English/Japanese newspapers according to the guests' needs. Overall, besides the main attraction of Osaka Castle, there are not many nearby attractions. The only advantage is the reasonable price, making it a good option for family travelers.

Osaka Castle was great for a walk. There were a lot of people. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance before visiting. The line to buy admission tickets was quite long. I took the elevator and got off at the middle floor and went up the stairs to the top. It took less than 30 minutes to come down after looking at each level. The souvenir shop is quite expensive, so only purchase if you really want to buy it.
