#seoultrip
In the bustling city of Seoul especially the centre Jongno area, there is this street called Insadong where many traditional shops were located. Here you will find many traditional Korean antique shops such as tea wares, calligraphy tools, jewelry boxes and also some small textile shops selling unique small artworks. For those who likes to enjoy some traditional teas and desserts, there are also many traditional tea houses serving Ssanghwacha and honey cookies. You might also find some good bargains of tea utensils and good antique souvenirs for those who like some traditional wares. A very good place for strolling and sightseeing indeed.
Insa Dong 🇰🇷 Korea
#seoultrip
Insa Dong was one of my favorite spots when touring Seoul and I'd high reccomend this lovely district that is an awesome hub of art, food and shopping.
There is a balance between the old and new here, with old lanes and new contemporary buildings.
The shops here offer genuine variety of goods and styles, there are even little markets inside the older courtyards too.
The array if dishes were exactly as we had hoped with all the Korean BBQ small places. Pork belly, pork neck, kimchi, meat pancakes, pink salt, mustard seeds, wasabi and so much more.
Insa Dong is a must visit, especially for a good day time lunch restaurant
Insa-dong walking street. the range of products here varies from tea ware to clothes and modern art. Many youngsters visit this area during evening as there is one Art centre where they displays nice artworks . the street is wide hence strolling there one doesn’t feel that it’s too packed.
Insadong Shopping Street at Night Time
This street is located in Insadong, Jongro-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It has boutique galleries and street vendors selling traditional Korean snacks. You can also find shops here selling souvenirs.
This street is abundance of wooden tea houses (nearly 40), boutique galleries and street vendors offering traditional Korean snacks makes Insa-dong street in Seoul a true magnet for visitors of the Korean capital. Alongside the free entertainment the area is famous for, Insa-dong is also one of the key destinations in the city for buying traditional Korean art, products and souvenirs, such as hanbok (traditional clothing), hanji (traditional paper), traditional teas, pottery, and folk crafts.
There is a plethora of antique shops (more than 50), art galleries (80+), traditional stationery shops, handicraft shops, pottery and porcelain shops, bookstores, and art supply stores. On top of that, there are almost 100 restaurants specialized in traditional Korean cuisine. With such a variety on offer, one is really bound to be spoilt for choice here.

Insa-dong What To Eat
Insa-dong is one of the best places in Seoul to try street foods. Highly recommended to eat Naengmyeon (Korean cold buckwheat noodles), mandu (dumplings), grilled pork on a stick, pancakes, and waffle ice cream. There are many variations of Mandu. Depending on the filling ingredients, they are called gogi mandu (meat as the main ingredient in the filling), yachae mandu (vegetables), saewu mandu (shrimp), kimchi mandu, and so on. Interestingly, Koreans not only eat cold noodles in summer but also during autumn and winter. You will also see many people eating and walking with an interestingly shaped corn cookie snack that is filled with soft vanilla ice cream. Taste so so only, you may try for fun.
Avg. Price Per Person: SGD5-10

Insa-dong Must Eat Hotteok!
Hotteok (Korean Sweet Pancakes) is a popular Korean street food made from a simple yeast dough with a sweet syrupy filling made with brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. They were introduced by Chinese immigrants in the early 1900s in Korea. It is a must to eat Hotteok in Insa-dong. The outside was crispy and the inside was soft and fluffy, and had a special fragrance. It was so delicious! This tasty snack is great to have on a cold day. The stall is easy to spot on Insadong-gil at Insadong 4-gil. It is usually crowded with people waiting patiently in line. The hotteok cost only 1,000 won or SGD1.

Korean Grilled Barbeque Restaurant located in 16 Insadong 12-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
Pork grilled freshly in front of you. Very well cooked meat, so soft but crunchy without scorching and tastes like beefsteak.

From the land of Blackpink and BTS also their infamous Kimchi and smoky BBQ pork cuisine. There lies a deeper discovery to be unearth within the old district of Insadong. Their 21st Century Seoul style Hanok are an ingenious exemplars of the continual evolution result of outside cultural influences. Adapting the natural and cultural environment of the urban and complimenting the changing modern lifestyle. Designed to offer greater versatility and complexity to perform a wide variety of functions. The modern Seoul Hanok stills holds true to the collective, multifunctional and communal focus value but the ingenuity evolution has infused greater creativity, diversity and three dimensionality whilst retaining its cultural identity. Highly recommend the experience.
Ddongbbang is really famous in Insadong! If you visit there, make sure to try this cute snack 💕 It is called Ddongbbang because it is shaped like poop, but don’t worry, the taste is not the same 😂 You can choose different fillings, such as chocolate, red bean, walnuts, etc.

In Seoul's place names, XX holes ("") are often seen, such as Myeongdong, Samcheong-dong, Insa-dong, and so on.
In fact, "hole" means street in South Korea, just like China's XX Street and XX Lane.
A few years ago, Insa-dong, which is still not famous, has become a place to visit in Seoul. Because it is not far from Sanqingdong, Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon, it can be arranged on the same day.

Korea's Insadong
It is said that Insadong was established during the Joseon Dynasty, and during the Joseon Dynasty, it was an area dense with government offices and private residences of the nobility. However, now it primarily sells cultural goods (Hanbok, crafts, ceramics, souvenirs, etc.), has a strong commercial atmosphere, and is a vibrant and youthful street. Around Everyone Square, there are many small shops, restaurants, and many restaurants worth checking in. There are also many galleries and handicraft shops here, and the environment of these shops is very well arranged, worth a visit.

Ssamziegil
#seoul
Ssamzigil which is opened on December 2004 in Insadong which is the iconic street well-known of line-up antique shops and folk art galleries. It is located in 44 Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul and is open daily from 1030-2030. The nearest subway stations are Anguk (Line3) and Jonggak (Line 1) with couple of minutes walk.
Ssamziegil is a uniquely designed spiral building which is probably the prettiest in Insadong, you do not require escalators or stairs to bring you up to next level, they connect each charming level together in the form of a spiraling beautifully decorated walkway. Enjoy window-shopping in the cozy stores until you reach the top, Sky Garden. There are over 70 shops including handicraft stores, souvenir shops, art galleries, restaurants and more.
If you take the staircase, notice the interesting rose stem that climbs from the basement to the roof of the building. There is also a lot of sloppy hand drawn writing and graffiti on the wall that add to the uniqueness of Ssamzigil.

Chill at Insa-dong!
인사동 Insa-dong @ Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
Main Street of Insa-dong is near the Anguk subway station.
Insa-dong is filled with alleys of traditional restaurants, teahouses, cafes as well as shops selling traditional items.
Head down to Insa-dong for a warm cup of tea during a rainy day or a cold dessert such as ice cream or bingsu on a sunny day. Great place to relax and unwind with friends!
Seoul | Insa-dong: A quaint cultural and creative food market
🇰🇷Just around the City Hall and Gyeongbokgung Palace, local friends took me on a walk to a famous shopping district nearby - Insadong, also a filming location for Korean movies and dramas.
🏠Insadong: Established during the Joseon Dynasty, this cultural street was mainly used for buying and selling cultural goods. It was a place where government officials and the nobility lived in close proximity during the Joseon Dynasty. It is referred to as "a place where you can buy Korean culture" by travel books and has now become a popular shopping district for young people.
📸Environment:
🌴On a beautiful day, the tall trees and blue sky on both sides of the road make people feel good. The most famous is the Ssamziegil Square with different styles. The stairs leading to the terrace are painted with murals.
🎨Unlike the area around Myeong-dong, here, although it has an old city atmosphere, it is full of various creative small markets and new-style cuisine restaurants. Renting a Hanbok can take many beautiful photos here.
🎬Many unique local shops are located in this area. If you take your time to explore, you can discover many cultural treasures, such as vinyl records and high-end art galleries. There are also occasional exhibitions held here.
🎻Tourists can choose to buy souvenirs from handicraft and handmade shops. Each small shop is decorated very warmly by the owner. Friends who like to buy these little things have already walked too much on the road.
🍽Food recommendation:
🍶Tea culture: One of the famous tea culture places in Korea, you can see a tea house every few minutes, from high-end to affordable. It's nice to take a break and warm up with a cup of hot tea when you're tired of walking.
🍚Red bean porridge: This should be the representative food of each district in Seoul. I had the impression from watching Korean variety shows and came to Insadong to try the famous "Bonjuk" red bean porridge. You can give it a try.
☕️Café: There are many stylish cafés here, where various Korean MVs or dramas are filmed. The café that IU visited before was very popular, and the owners would post photos for people to take pictures and check in.
🍲Korean food: My favorite authentic Korean food can be found here in many lesser-known but delicious restaurants, all recommended by local friends. This place preserves the most traditional culture, so many restaurants only have Korean menus, even Starbucks too.
🥘Just walk into a small restaurant and you can eat kimchi pancakes, army hot pot, spicy rice cakes, pan-fried dumplings, etc. For foodies who love Korean food, it's really full of surprises.
💰Price range: The prices at the restaurant and coffee shops are a bit cheaper than those in the Myeong-dong area, and some of the more famous ones may be a bit more upscale.
🆓Business hours: Open 24 hours.
📍Location: 62 Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul Special City.
🚇Transportation: Take exit 5 or 6 at the nearby subway station "Anguo Station".
Seoul shopping | A place with a strong artistic atmosphere - Insa-dong
Personally, I think the streets of South Korea are very artistic, with everything on the roadside.
The shop mainly sells handmade crafts, including paintings, embroidery,
Phone cases, stamps, ceramics, dolls, and so on, are all basically handmade.
"," too much of a money grab hahaha
A Traditional Village with a Modern Twist
This is a street with lots of Korean traditional buildings filled with modern restaurants and ecclectic handmade art.
Check out the tea houses and traditional food in the little ally next to Ssamjigil. It's also close to palaces.
