🌄 Review of a 1-day trip to “Khao Yai Thiang Wind Turbine”
Last holiday, we planned to drive from Bangkok to check in at Khao Yai Thiang, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The highlight here is the “giant windmills” standing tall and lined up on the ridge above the Lam Takhong Reservoir. The view is amazing. 🌄💨
🚗 We left Bangkok in the morning, took the Mittraphap route, drove for about 2 and a half hours, and arrived at our destination just in time. The weather was nice, the wind was cool and comfortable, no need to turn on the air conditioner! The round-trip gas fee was about 600 baht (if there are 2 people, it would only be 300 baht per person).
🚙 There is no entrance fee here. It’s free! You can park your car. There is a very large parking lot. If you don’t want to walk, you can rent a golf cart or a bicycle.
• We chose to rent a bicycle for 40 baht and rode along the wind. The view on both sides of the road was amazing. 🌾💚 There were reservoirs, mountains, and green fields. It felt like you were abroad.
📸 There are so many places to take pictures! You can take pictures with the giant windmills, take a panoramic view of the dam, or take pictures on the tree-lined walkway. But if you want a sunset photo, I recommend coming in the evening to get a warm, romantic orange light. 🌅
🥤 If you're tired from walking, there's a small coffee shop by the parking lot. We ordered an iced honey Americano for 60 baht and sat there sipping while enjoying the view. It was so good. ☕
🍱 There are also other snacks for sale, such as fried chicken with sticky rice, meatballs, or local snacks. The prices are reasonable, starting at only 30–50 baht.
⸻
🎉 Rough summary of expenses per person:
• Gas + expressway (divided by 2 people): ~300 baht
• Bicycle rental: 40 baht
• Coffee + snacks: ~100 baht
Total cost: 400–450 baht. You can have a great trip all day long.
⸻
📍Additional recommendations:
• If you want to see some fog, come in the morning.
• If you want a sunset photo, come in the evening.
• The road up the mountain is quite winding. Drive slowly and be careful.
• Don't forget to wear a hat and bring water. Because the sun is strong at noon ☀️
⸻
This trip is 10/10 because I got to relax my mind, breathe fresh air, get beautiful photos, and the cost was not expensive at all 🍃📷 If anyone is looking for a natural place to visit near Bangkok, I highly recommend this place! 💚
