Luang Prabang hidden turquoise GEM!
Kuang Si waterfall is located less than an hour from Luang Prabang and is well known for its turquoise waters. There are multiple pools scattered throughout the area where the main pool has rope swings and an overhanging tree limb where you can jump into the pool water.
The waterfall is easily accessible but be sure to bring along picnic mat, food and towels. Changing room and toilet are available. There are some eateries around the area where one can relax, take a swim and take in the magnificent views! Best to visit early of the day when the crowd is less. #waterfall #luangprabang #laos #Hiddengen #travelinspiration
A breathtaking sight in Luang Prabang, Laos
I’ll never forget this place in Laos, it was simply breathtaking. The hike was definitely worth it, it was quite hard for me, and it was even harder to hike back down. Quite slippery at the top, you need to be careful, because you will fall if you don’t. Overall, it’s definitely worth it. The pictures you can take here are simply priceless.
Will come back and I definitely recommend visiting. Cheers!

The Kuang Si Falls
The Kuang Si Falls is probably the most famous and visited place in the city of Luang Prabang. It is not near so I will take you about an hour’s drive from the city center. The waterfalls are gorgeous so no wonder why is so popular among tourists. It is totally safe to swim, even for children as it consists of several shallow pools. The water has such a beautiful light bluish-greenish shade, I though the pics about this place were photoshopped but in person you will see those true beautiful colours.

Magical looking waterfall in the Land of Laos
Kuang Si Waterfall: If you only have time for one activity in Laos, then this is the place you MUST visit.
Located nearest to the city of Luang Prabang in Laos, it is about 45mins drive away from the centre of town. Depending on your budget, there are several ways transport options like shared/private tuktuk, van, motorbike etc. I will recommend to get some help from your hotel to arrange a tuktuk for you.
Like the usual attraction, get there early if you prefer less crowd!
Swimming are allowed at certain parts of the waterfall, so bring along your swimming gears if you are up for an adventure swim! And respect the “no swimming” zone.
And like the photos shown, the water are turquoise in color, and together with the whole foresty background setting, the whole place just looks really magical!
This will be a trip you will never forget!

Best thing to do in Luang Prabang!
Visiting the Kuang Si waterfalls is the best thing I’ve done in Luang Prabang, Laos. The turquoise waters cascading into the these tiered pools made of limestone makes it really Insta-worthy!
The best part is that you can also take a dip in the turquoise waters at certain allocated areas! But please take note of the signs that says no swimming in certain areas as some of the pools are considered sacred to the locals. There are toilets at the lower levels of the waterfall for you to change. You can also bring some snacks and drinks to picnic at one of the tables there after your swim. Remember to bring along some mosquito repellent though!
Opening Hours: Daily from 8am to 5.30pm
Entrance fee: 20,000 kip
Hike from bottom to top: Takes around 15-20 mins and it’s a easy hike.

I Loved stopping at this place to see the Laos forest, the falls and the sun bears. I would have loved to have gone for a swim in the pools, but the crowds were intense ( and this was in February 2020 before COVID changed everything). Go early and take your time at the sun bear sanctuary...fantastic. great outing , as always loved the lush green and foliage growing on the way to the waterfalls . Great day with a bit of cloudness and cool weather . Then hot again but as we got there the kids jumped in . Water still cold .
We love it the small quietness during this time not a lot of people .
Good for family and kids

Kuang Si waterfall is one of the most famous attraction in Luang Prabang. It has many small waterfalls and pool where you can swim in. It’s reachable by the city by any kind of transportation including tuktuk for about an hour #happynewyear

Kuang Si falls must be the original Garden of Eden ?? Just a magical day. Irridescant blue waters cascade down the hills with multiple drops and pools. Swimming is allowed in several areas so take your swimmers !! Great meal options at the Park gates. Only slight disappointment was having to walk through the bear sanctuary on path to the falls, I'm not a fan of wildlife tourism but they looked happy and healthy. A MUST SEE when in Luang Prabang.

The Gwangsai Waterfall consists of a large waterfall and several small waterfalls under the mountain. The total height of the waterfall is 100 meters. It falls from the limestone peaks and forms a pool under the mountain. It is a fairy-like blue-blue, dreamlike.
Just because of the infinite pool naturally formed at the top of the waterfall near the height of 100 meters, the Gwangsai Waterfall has two titles at the same time. It is the world's three "devil pools" and the world's top ten natural worlds. The swimming pool has become a favorite among many tourists.
Qishan, jungle, waterfall, the most uneasy wind, disturbing the dream of the pool, blowing the summer aroma, and giving the world a cool world.
The Gwangju Waterfall in Luang Prabang is one of the city's most famous tourist attractions. It has plenty of water and humid air and is a natural oxygen bar. Although the waterfalls in the scenic area are not the most spectacular, you can swim under the waterfall.
Due to calcification, the pool that flows down from the Gwangsi Waterfall shows milk green. Therefore, there is a Jiuzhaigou called the mini version. Of course, it cannot be compared with the real Jiuzhaigou, but in Laos. In the landlocked country that does not rely on the sea, the Qishan Xiushui here is more beautiful than the seascape.

Kuang Si Falls: High cost performance
On February 18, 2024, we visited the Kuang Si Falls located more than 20 kilometers south of Luang Prabang city in Laos.
After buying tickets at the visitor center (25,000 kip per person, about 7.3 yuan), we took a scenic bus (about 800 meters, no extra charge) to the entrance of the waterfall scenic area.
The vertical height of the waterfall scenic area is about 2 kilometers, and there are 4 waterfall groups from the foot of the mountain to near the top.
We slowly walked up from the right side of the waterfall group (facing the waterfall mountain), and saw that the winding and winding, some places need to use hands and feet, the vegetation around the small road is very beautiful. We went up all the way, and then admired the 4 waterfalls along the way.
About 60 minutes later, we arrived at the lake on the top of the mountain (it is the source of water for the 4 waterfalls in the mountains). At this moment, the T-shirt has been soaked in sweat.
After a short rest, waiting for "sweat collection" (to avoid getting sick), I jumped into the lake for a swim.
After eating the food we brought, we replenished our energy, and then we went down to the waterfall group closest to the lake on the top of the mountain (from bottom to top, it is the 4th waterfall group) with the help of the steel frame stairs on the left side of the waterfall group.
The waterfall with the largest drop and area in this scenic area is in the shape of a right triangle, with a drop of about 200 meters, which is quite spectacular (photos 2, 5, 11-13)!
With the help of the tourist road slowly down, we admired the other 3 waterfall groups from another angle, took the scenic bus to the exit, and the whole journey took 3 hours.
Overall, Luang Prabang, the most famous tourist holy land, the cost of the scenic area plus the round-trip scenic bus, a total of only 25,000 kip per person, high cost performance!
The Guangxi Waterfall, a 'natural oxygen bar' in the primeval forest of a fairyland on earth
After the National Day holiday in 2023, I went with my friends to the legendary Guangxi Waterfall, located 30 kilometers south of Luang Prabang in Laos, a multi-tiered and expansive group of waterfalls. Finally, my friends and I got to witness its splendor. Its beauty can be fully appreciated without the need for any filters~

Wonderful, no more words needed. The area is quite big including a rescue camp for bears and a butterfly park (additional costs will occure). When you arrive at the waterfalls, you take a kind of golf cart to the actual area. When you arrive there, you can explore the waterfalls, swim or climb up. Swimming is allowed in certain places. We really enjoyed it, such a beautiful place!
