Kunming City's Guide to Photographing Jacaranda Trees
Recently, the jacaranda trees in Kunming have been blooming competitively, and some areas have already reached their peak blooming period. The number of tourists has gradually increased, and the Jacaranda Market has been open for over a week now. Often, the places are crowded and the trees are so tall that it's hard to know how to take a good photo?
Here are a few spots and angles that I often go to for photography, which I believe will be helpful to you.
⛰【Travel Tips】
Photos 2-7: The Jacaranda Theme Park on Jiaochang Middle Road, just navigate there directly.
Photos 2.3: The highest slope in front of the Kunming University of Science and Technology Affiliated Middle School.
Photos 4567 are taken from the middle of the road, which is the market section.
🌟Highlights: The most Instagrammable street, where you can spend 25 yuan to take a double-decker bus for close-up photography, and there's also an ice cream. The downside is that it's super crowded!
Photos 89: Chun Cheng Road, navigate directly to the Tailong Hongrui Hotel.
🌟Highlights: You can get close to the flowers, but the downside is that you need to climb walls, so be careful.
Photos 10-14: Navigate directly to the Jiatai Hotel on Jiangbin West Road.
🌟Highlights: The flowers on the bridge are quite low and look very beautiful in photos, and it's not crowded. The only downside is that you need to find the right angle to take a good photo. These places are all easy to get good shots!
Photo 15: Cuihu Park.
🌟Highlights: There's a super big tree that hangs down to the water's edge and looks very beautiful!
You can also stroll around Cuihu Lake. The downside is that the angles are somewhat limited.
📷About Angles: The way to avoid crowds is to use various methods of obstruction.
First, use your own body, props, flower walls, and the principle of 'things appear smaller the further away they are.'
Second, use high and low angles, close-ups.
Third, shoot with a large aperture to blur the background.
📌Small Tips: Besides, it doesn't really matter if there are a few people, as long as they are in the distance and not right next to you. If you really don't like having passersby in your photos, you can edit them out later. Also, travel at off-peak times, go out for photography when others are still sleeping in, and you'll find very few people around.
Wishing everyone a happy photography experience and fun. If you really don't want to do it yourself, you can make an appointment with me.

The Jacarandas of 2023 are blooming beautifully
The approximate blooming period is from mid to late April until early May
The Labor Day of 2023 is the peak of the bloom (all pictures are taken in 2023)
Here are some recommended spots for Jacaranda in full bloom
Plan your trip for this year now📝
·
📍Location 1: Jiaochang Middle Road (Picture 1-Picture 10)
✅️Advantages: The whole street is dense with flourishing Jacarandas, and every year there will be a Jacaranda market or related activities here, with Jacaranda-related products, and even a Jacaranda-themed bus;
❗️Disadvantages: The trees are tall and there are many people and vehicles, making it a bit difficult to take portraits, it's best to bring a telephoto lens to find a spot. Do not drive there, as it gets very congested during the bloom season, it is recommended to get off the taxi early and walk nearby, and electric scooters are the most convenient;
·
📍Location 2: Tailong Hongrui Hotel
✅️Advantages: Suitable for taking portraits with Jacarandas;
❗️Disadvantages: You need to sit on the wall to take pictures, which is dangerous. It's a popular spot for social media, so it can get very crowded;
·
📍Other recommended Jacaranda photography spots: Along the Panlong River (Picture 11-Picture 12), Lianmeng Road (Picture 13-Picture 14, you can also visit Shangyi Flower Market), Yueyatang Community, etc
