Best Things to DoNo.3 of Best Things to Do in Potosi
Natural scenery
Located in the Potosi Department in southwestern Bolivia, at an altitude of about 4,100 meters, Lake Edionda is a gem in the Andean salt lake chain. This alkaline lake was formed by volcanic activity and glacial erosion. The lake surface changes from emerald green to cobalt blue with the seasons. White borax crystal belts surround the lakeshore, forming a surreal landscape with the volcanoes in the distance. The rich plankton in the lake attracts a large number of James flamingos to inhabit, and the orange-pink bird flocks form a sharp contrast with the azure water. The lake area belongs to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. It is necessary to start from the Uyuni Salt Flats and drive about 3 hours along the southwest expedition route to arrive. It is recommended to participate in the local 2-3 day off-road vehicle itinerary, combined with the Red Lake, Green Lake and other attractions. It is easy to capture mirror reflections when the light is soft in the early morning, and a windproof jacket is required in the afternoon when there are strong winds. There is a simple viewing platform on the lakeshore, but no dining facilities, so you need to bring your own dry food.
