Timor Leste... a country full of smiles
what is interesting in Timor Leste.? it is not famous like Bali and Lombok. but believe me... the people are friendly, friendship is established, the seafood is fresh, the coffee is delicious.
sharing my trip to Timor Leste This time via the Kupang Nusa Tenggara road to the Atambua border. the journey will take 2 days. So be prepared to prepare enough food...
what about toilets, places to stop? can be said to be none... So if you have a stomach ache.. behind a tree is the answer
along the way you will meet the native Timorese. It is a new experience. Timor uses the dollar currency. it is indeed quite expensive. but it is a PAYMENT for lifelong memories.

In the beautiful West Timor, there is a quaint and beautiful pastoral scenery. Driving through these faint and quaint villages, it seems to have returned to the old days, a romantic pastoral scene.
Into these ancient villages, without the breath of the modern city, but giving people a feeling of peace and harmony, immersed in such a life, makes people forget to return.

Entering T
Entering Timor's most pristine and most isolated village, the Timorese, who are located in the dense forests of the mountains, live quietly and peacefully.
They have almost no communication with the outside world. Modern civilization is also far from here. However, they are naturally optimistic and have no competition for the world, giving people a feeling of comfort and tranquility.
I went to see the Christ the Redeemer statue in Timor-Leste, a small island nation in Southeast Asia.
Timor-Leste's Cristo Rei is the second largest statue in the world after the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Sadly, Japan is not depicted on the globe under the statue.
[Access🚗]
It takes 30 minutes by car from the city center.
You can also travel by minibus called Miklolet.
You can view the statue up close by climbing the stairs for 15 to 20 minutes. Along the way, you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea and the capital city of Dili.

Dilicious Timor: Amazing local cuisine
This place was so good that I spent a few afternoons reading and eating here. I highly recommend the pumpkin curry and pumpkin spring rolls, I’m still thinking about them several months later!

Chega: A must visit museum in Dili
If you want to offer Timor-Leste’s traumatic past, I highly recommend visiting the museum of Chega to learn about it’s history. It was a sobering experience, but one of the most well curated museums I have ever been to.

Cristo Rei, Dili’s Jesus statue
Cristo Rei was a long drive outside of Dili but well worth the effort of getting there and back. I especially recommend visiting for sunset, it was really quiet and watching the sunset from the beach below was a nice way to end the evening. #Dili #timorleste

Largest Jesus statue in Asia
This is Cristo Rei statue in Dili, Timor Leste.
This 89-foot statue of Cristo Rei was constructed in 1996 as a present from Indonesia to Timor Leste. Indonesian President Suharto wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Indonesia invasion and annexation of Timor by half-apologizing to the Timorese people for Indonesia’s decades of occupation. To please the Catholic majority, Suharto built a giant statue of Jesus standing atop a globe, accessible by a 590-step staircase. The statue was built in the Indonesian city of Bandung, where nearly all of the workers carving the face of Jesus into copper were Muslim.
It sort of mimics Brazil’s Cristo Redentor or Christ the Redeemer statue, only it’s short of three meters in height and stands on a significantly lower mountain. And while Brazil’s Cristo is more geometrically sculptural, the one in Dili presents a more realistic version of Christ standing on a globe.
How to get there? Take microlet 12 to Cristo Rei beach, then climb up the stairs (about 20-30 minutes) to reach the statue.
