Qimei Township is located at the southernmost tip of the Penghu Archipelago. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was known as "Nanyu" or "Dayu." Later, to commemorate the virtuous and touching deeds of the Seven Beauties, it was renamed "Qimei Township" as a permanent tribute. Qimei Island is a dissected plateau shaped by water erosion and geological rock formations. The northern Xihu Village and western Pinghe Village feature valley terrain. The island itself is a sloping plateau, higher in the northeast and lower in the southwest. A mountain ridge running east to west, commonly known as Zhongqi Mountain, divides the island into northern and southern parts. Qimei Island has the second-highest elevation in the Penghu Archipelago, second only to "Mao Island." Thirty nautical miles southwest of Qimei Island lies the renowned "Nanqian Fishing Ground," famous throughout Taiwan. The island boasts abundant marine resources, with most residents engaged in fishing and seafood processing, while agriculture plays a secondary role. Archaeological discoveries in areas like Nangang and Donghu have uncovered stone tool workshops dating back approximately 4,000 years, indicating early development and making the island an important cultural site. Additionally, the island is known for its unique specialty, "Qimei Grass," a single-ingredient herbal remedy said to treat rheumatism, arthritis, and muscle pain. This herb grows deep underground in the wild, requiring excavation several feet deep to reach its roots. Due to the difficulty of harvesting, wild "Qimei Grass" is nearly extinct and extremely rare, making it highly valuable.

Taiwan. Penghu Island Tour. Wangan-Qimei-Niaoyu||There are more than 90 islands of all sizes in Penghu. Due to time constraints, we arranged a two-day island tour. The first day is Wangan + Qimei. In the middle, the captain will drive the boat to other islands where people are not allowed to go ashore for tourists to watch from the sea. Those who can ride a bike can rent a scooter to ride around Wangan and Chimei Island. It is very free and you can ride leisurely because there are not many people. Wangan is relatively boring for us who came back from Australia. But Chimei has the Twin Hearts Stone Fishing Port, Little Taiwan, and Wangfu Stone, so there are still some attractions to see. There is a row of stalls in front of Shuangxin Stone Weir. I won’t tell you which one they are, but if you are not very hungry, it is not recommended to buy food here. I never knew there were such bad sausages in Taiwan, the mackerel was super fishy🤢🤢 Niaoyu has the second largest Tudigong Temple in Taiwan. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t seen a temple in Taiwan for too long, but I always feel that the temples in Penghu are very delicate, with many small details, and they are all beautiful.

The 4-day cruise trip to Hong Kong and Taiwan (Kaohsiung and Penghu) at Resorts World One is really worth remembering. Although 4 days is not a long time, it is very fulfilling and enjoyable. First, the cruise ship arrives at Kaohsiung Port. The cruise company has provided different types of shore visits and tourism activities for passengers to choose from. This time I chose to travel independently to the small island of Cijin in Kaohsiung. The scenery on the island is charming, and it is worth renting a motorcycle to slowly appreciate the scenery and try the local snacks. On the morning of the third day, everyone took the shuttle boat to Penghu in a happy mood. There are many tourist attractions in Penghu, and 7 to 8 hours is really not enough, but we are grateful that we can visit Penghu in just 4 days. If you have an international license plate, you can rent a motorcycle to tour Penghu, eat local seafood, and drink a cactus drink.
