Hsinchu Military Dependents' Village Museum: Listen to Mom Talk About That Happy Time
#1月好去地方2025
This time, I came to the Hsinchu Military Dependents' Village Museum with my mother. I originally just wanted to see the life of the early military dependents' village, but I didn't expect to hear my mother's full of childhood memories. It was like opening a time tunnel and letting us travel back to that simple but happy era.
When we walked into the museum and saw the retro furniture, old-fashioned water tanks, and old military supplies, my mother started talking. She said that although her family was not rich when she was a child, she lived a happy life every day.
In the past, there were no washing machines in the military dependents’ village. Everyone squatted in the yard, scrubbed clothes with soap, and then carried the heavy basin to the faucet at the entrance of the alley to rinse them. They chatted with neighbors while washing. Life was simple but lively.
