Treasure of Malaysia Textiles
National Textile Museum, divided into 2 floors with 4 different galleries. On the first floor, there is the Pohon Budi Gallery, which houses an exhibition of materials and textile manufacturing techniques since ancient times.
Then at the Rainbow Gallery there is an exhibition of different types of batik as well as collections of textiles from the Chinese, and the Baba Nyonya community as well as textiles from Sabah and Sarawak.
At Teluk Berantai Gallery you can see an exhibition of Malay textile motifs and others. In the last section, the Ratna Sari Gallery, there is an exhibition of traditional accessories used by the communities that exist in Malaysia. A lot can be learned at this museum, especially about the rich culture that exists in Malaysia. Very interesting to visit.

Address:26, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, City Centre, 50000 Kuala Lumpur.
Getting there: It is around 8 minutes walk from the Masjid Jamek LRT station.
Highlights: The National Textiles Museum is a very nicely arranged and well-preserved museum. There are a lots of explanation on history here. There are actual artifacts on display along with historical photos. The functional looms were a highlight for me. A bit dim light in some places but it is understandable as it will be required to preserve the original plant based colors.
The workers here are helpful as well. They will guide you the way you need to go. Entrance fee is RM2.
Opening hours: 9am to 5pm daily.

It is not far from the Independence Square. It is also in a historic building. The building is very Islamic and Arabian in style. The exterior walls are mainly white and brick, simple and elegant. It can be visited free of charge. However, if you have to register, you have to fill out a questionnaire and be satisfied with the exhibition hall. The door is a bird. People who travel in general will not come here. The interior of the building is full of white walls, very quiet. The exhibition hall has two floors, not big. There are three or four exhibition areas on each floor. There are automatic doors and air conditioning. Introduced the development history of the textile industry and has a lot to do with the Silk Road. There is still development now. The exhibits are very detailed, and there are many imitation equipment, fabrics, jewelry, wax figures, very vivid image. On the one hand, there is on-site production of fabric dyeing, of course, there is a charge. It was because of the interest in the building to visit. If you have time, you may wish to take a look.
