#Orange Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Finally took a photo with Chairman Mao at the head of Orange Island~|||The big screen at May 1st Square is good for taking pictures
|||The big screen at May 1st Square is good for taking pictures. It's really beautiful to catch the afterglow of the sunset🌇
We took the sightseeing car to the statue and then walked back. There are many parks along the way and the scenery is very beautiful. It's really comfortable to take a walk after dusk🎀
📍The atmosphere of taking pictures at the big screen of May 1st Square at the intersection of IFS International Finance Center and Huangxing Pedestrian Street is very strong💗
The sunset in Changsha is also romantically unswerving
In Changsha, there is a romantic appointment with the sunset. When the sunlight gently falls, the entire city seems to be surrounded by warm colors. 💖✨
The sunset is like a poem, gradually setting, dyeing the sky into a golden color. Its afterglow gently touches the earth, as if giving all life endless warmth and strength. At this moment, time seems to freeze, leaving only this beautiful moment. 🌅💞
With the setting of the sunset, the entire city gradually fell into tranquility. The busy streets quieted down, people stopped their hurried footsteps, and looked up at this beautiful sunset. It seems that at this moment, all troubles and fatigue are taken away by the sunset, leaving only purity and beauty. 😍💕
The sunset in Changsha is a feast for the eyes and the soul. It makes us feel the beauty and power of life, and also makes us full of expectations and hopes for tomorrow. 💪✨
Mao Zedong 🗿
Changsha, the capital of central China’s Hunan province, is a large city with a history dating to the Zhou dynasty (1046–256 B.C.). Today it’s known for its rare collection of excavated Western Han dynasty tombs, known as the Mawangdui. It’s also associated with Mao Zedong, who studied and lived here before joining the Chinese Communist Party in the 1920s.
Orange Island 🇨🇳 Changsha
A tourist spot with lots of Chinese characteristics.
Massive political statues ✅
Temples ✅
Local famous tea chain ✅
Gardens ✅
Famous residences ✅
A random tourist activity centre with buggies and caravans, and a shooting range ✅
A petit tram✅
What more could you want, it's a fun touristy day out.
Getting There- It's easiest to get a taxi to the main car parks on the island. Then you'll need to walk or use the petit trams to navigate the island and its many tourist spots. There is a main island path and a prominade too. For the massive figure head you'll need to register to get in with your passport or/and QR code.
You could spend an hour or a day here, but I would recommend an early start as the crowds can be quite big.
#lightthecity It was very hot when we went (we had to buy a manually powered fan for 25 yuan) and there were tons of people visiting so you have to queue up to wait but the lines are fast. You can walk the island yourself or take a tram. It is a few kilometers to walk and we were lazy so we took the tram. The highlight of the place is a giant statue of Young Mao. There is also a museum right by but it was closed. There are plenty of parks and other smaller attractions as well. Wish we would have spent a little more time here as there is a beach at the other end of the island that we missed. You can easily spend the bulk of the day here seeing all the different attractions.

Nice place to visit #tripaway #triplocal
Merry Christmas...

After visiting Hunan University, I walked along the archway road to the Xiangjiang River. When I walked to the riverside, I could see a archway. At this time, I understood the meaning of the name of the archway road. I think this should be the location of the original Yuelu Academy archway ~
through the dyke of the river, down the stairs to the greenway, you can slowly walk along the river, there are many walks and rides The person who walks. Next to Xiangjiang River is the Changsha Xiangjiang Scenic Belt, which consists of more than ten leisure fitness squares, green belts and historical and cultural landscapes. It integrates functions such as flood control, sightseeing, tourism, leisure and fitness.
Unconsciously, the sundial is coming quietly. The shadow of the sun shines on the river, sparkling.
Working people, gradually returning home to rest; the traffic on the Orange Island Bridge gradually increased; the high-rise buildings on the shore gradually staged a gorgeous light show...
Orange is the Chairman Maos poem "Independent cold autumn, Xiangjiang North, oranges, head, see Wanshan red, layered forest to dye" in the orange continent. First Time in Changsha.
Juzizhou Island
Open from 07:00-22:00
Metro Line 2 Juzizhou Station, exit 1 or 2
Ideal for a leisurely walk, very shady, or buy a ticket to take the train for 40 yuan per person (round trip)
I enjoyed walking here very much because the weather was very cool
There are many activities, walking, cycling
Admire various kinds of trees and flowers
The highlight is the statue of 'Mao Zedong'
Finally checked in at the Orange Isle Head! The panoramic view is really stunning
I advise everyone to go to Changsha's Orange Isle, do not take the sightseeing bus
because the road in the park is just too beautiful! After the rain, the weather is so refreshing, and it feels so comfortable to walk on the road
Moreover, since everyone takes the sightseeing bus, there are hardly any people walking on the road
Just enjoy the surrounding scenery leisurely
Changsha Tourism
I went for two days and one night, walked twenty thousand steps a day, and felt that I had enough fun.
Travel Tips⚠️
1️⃣ Do not casually arrange photo shoots with people online, many are there to rip off newcomers, they don't need repeat customers! Here's an experience of being ripped off: The customer photos displayed are beautiful, but the actual skill is disappointing. Initially, the title of 10 yuan for 4 photos is attractive, but it turns out it doesn't include satisfaction guarantee. In the end, we chose the 100 yuan package for individual and couple photos, which was supposed to be until we were satisfied. We got about thirty photos in total, taken carelessly and perfunctorily, with as many as ten blurry or shaky ones, very poor quality, hardly two were usable, and they didn't allow retakes! It would have been better to choose the 10 yuan for 4 photos package, so annoying.
2️⃣ It's best to bring your own power bank or charger when going out. It's easy for your phone to run out of battery after a day of taking photos and checking in at places, and the shared power banks on the streets are quite expensive, 3 yuan for half an hour, costing 12 yuan for two hours.
3️⃣ It's best to take the mini train at Orange Island, but it's 40 yuan per person, which is a bit expensive. There's a half-price student ticket available with a student ID and registration on the student network. It's said to be a six-kilometer round trip, so if you have plenty of time and energy, you can choose to walk.
4️⃣ If you want to eat 'stupid radish', it's better to make a reservation in advance. We made a reservation around 3:30 PM, waited for more than two hundred and eighty tables, and got to eat at 5 PM. During the wait, we strolled around Wuyi Road, checked in at the top floor of IFS, and came back just in time for the meal.
5️⃣ If you want to drink TeaYan, register as a TeaYan member the day before. Set your birthday to the day of registration, as there are no coupons for registering on the actual day. Birthday coupons allow you to choose a free cup of TeaYan's Yuanyang coffee, Gude Lemon, or any other TeaYan drink.
Orange Island Head 🌸😍
#cherryblossom2024
Orange Island Head, go ahead and squeeze people! The subway here provides direct access to Changsha for free, and you won't miss the opportunity to take a group photo of Zhang Weiren's sculpture at Orange Island. While walking, you want to dress up beautifully and take photos, but the result is that there are many people and you have to walk tricks. When you were a child, you would have to charge other fees. This weekend, the park personally measured the location of this machine. The subway is direct, and it's easy to take photos with fewer people. After taking photos, you are satisfied (you can come out of Exit 5 of Bishahu subway station, cross the street from the subway station to see the key location, pass through the fence railing, and before going, there is a sightseeing platform suitable for taking portraits and sculpting photos. Tips belt telephoto camera, perhaps among apples, so it's across the river, you need to zoom in and take photos. Near 6 pm in the afternoon, the distance and photos taken are in a blue-green tone, and the orange tone at sunset is heartfelt

3️⃣ Baisha Road Changsha Wall
This wall hidden in the Atour parking lot on Baisha Road
The words "Changsha" written here can be said to be
One of the most beautiful I've seen in Changsha!
🚗 It's in the Atour courtyard next to May 1st Square on Baisha Road, a few minutes by 🚗 from May 1st Square Station or Nanmenkou Station on the subway
-
4️⃣ Wen He You
Because it's an indoor retro street scene
What you see during the day and night is exactly the same!
So just go there when you have time during the day!
There will be fewer people and it's easier to take photos without waiting~
🚗 Subway Line 2 Xiangjiang Middle Road Station, walk or take a 🚗 to Hisense Plaza
-

This should be a niche place that only many locals know about

Buy a ticket to the sunset
Is it worth it to take a night cruise on the Xiang River in Changsha?
I went to Changsha and took the night cruise on the Xiang River that very evening. To be honest, I personally don't think it's very worthwhile! The price is a bit expensive, and there's always a queue! However, for those who are visiting Changsha for the first time and want to check out Orange Isle, it's still worth experiencing. After all, I refuse to go to Orange Isle in such hot weather during the day, haha, just sharing my itinerary with everyone~
🛳️Travel Tips:
Night cruise times: 19:00-19:30-20:30-21:00
Route: Orange Isle Wharf→Statue of Mao Zedong at Orange Isle→Du Fu Pavilion→Wanda Plaza→Fisherman's Wharf→Orange Isle Wharf
(I personally recommend the 20:30 slot, as it's completely dark by then, and the main attraction of the night cruise is the lights and night view~ The whole journey lasts about an hour, and if you go at 21:00, it ends quite late)
🎫Ticket purchase: 💰180 RMB per person, sisters who want to go should try to buy tickets 1-2 days in advance, as it's very likely you won't be able to get them on the day!
Note: The night cruise ticket includes the Orange Isle train ticket.
Specific itinerary:
Be sure to arrive at least half an hour in advance, as you need to take the train to the wharf where you board the ship! Otherwise, you won't make it! If you have plenty of time, it's best to arrive an hour early, so you can take the train leisurely and enjoy Orange Isle in the evening~
📍Transportation: You can take Metro Line 2 to 'Orange Isle' station, and following the crowd when you exit the station is basically correct
📍Ticket collection: Note that if you purchase tickets online, you can directly scan the electronic code to take the train and board the ship! There's no need to exchange tickets at the window!!! Silly me queued for a long time...
📍Taking the train: Walk inside from the ticket exchange, where you queue for the train. After boarding the train, move forward, and the staff will remind you where to get off for the cruise ship wharf;
📍Boarding: Queue for boarding, the ship has 3 levels, the first level is indoors (viewing outside through glass windows) but has seats and air conditioning~ The second floor is a small platform, but personally, I think the smell of gasoline is quite strong; the third floor is a more open platform.
⭐️I suggest everyone first take pictures of the night view on the third floor, then go back to the first floor to find a seat and rest~ There are performances downstairs~~.
💥Pitfall to avoid: The best area on the third floor is cordoned off, and you have to pay to enter, with seats, mineral water, and some snacks provided, the price is about 200 RMB for 3-4 people (we didn't buy, not sure), which feels quite expensive, and the staff's attitude is very bad!!!
Overall feeling:
The night view is just that, a view of the lights at night, and you can see it without taking the cruise!!! On the contrary, I feel that just taking the train around Orange Isle is quite a good deal~
Orange Isle 'Plum': A Poetic Winter Scroll, A Journey to Seek Fragrance in the Snow
📍🔥In the land of Hunan, there lies a place where culture and nature blend harmoniously—Orange Isle. With the seasons changing, Orange Isle presents different charms, and in winter, it becomes particularly enchanting due to the blooming plum blossoms. At this moment, let us step into this vivid scene named 'Orange Isle 'Plum',' and experience the quiet poetry and vibrant life of winter.
1️⃣ Plum fragrance at the head of the isle, a picturesque winter scene
🏝️ At the head of Orange Isle, the waves of the Xiang River ripple, and the cold wind gently brushes, but it cannot dampen the enthusiasm of the plum blossoms blooming proudly against the frost. Thousands of plum trees stand along the river, casting sparse shadows, with a subtle fragrance wafting through the air, like a natural ink painting scroll.
🌸 The red plums are as passionate as fire, the white plums as elegant as snow, and the green plums stand out uniquely, with various colors of plum blossoms reflecting each other, weaving a colorful sea of flowers. Walking among them is like being in a dream woven by plum blossoms, with every breath filled with the delicate fragrance of plums, intoxicating the senses.
2️⃣ The soul of poetry resides in the plum, where history and culture converge
👨🏫 Orange Isle is not only a treasure of natural landscapes but also a cultural landmark with a rich historical background. Comrade Mao Zedong, in his youth, penned 'Qinyuanchun·Changsha' here, with the magnificent lines 'Standing alone in the cold autumn, the Xiang River flowing north, at the head of Orange Isle' deeply ingrained in people's hearts.
🌨️ In winter, the plum blossoms of Orange Isle bloom, vividly echoing the heroic sentiments in the great man's poetry. Visitors can, besides enjoying the plum blossoms, visit the sculpture of the young Mao Zedong on Orange Isle, imagining how the young talent of that time expressed his aspirations facing the Xiang River.
♣️ The resilience and pride of the plum blossoms complement the spirit of the revolutionary pioneers, adding a noble cultural connotation to the plum scenery of Orange Isle.
3️⃣ Seeking plums in the snow, winter fun abounds
❄️ In winter, Orange Isle occasionally sees snowflakes falling, dressing the plum grove in silver. Seeking plums in the snow becomes a great joy of winter visits to Orange Isle. On the clean snow, the plum blossoms dot the landscape like stars scattered on earth, contrasting with the snowflakes on the branches, creating a beautiful scene 'In the snow, we know spring is coming; plum blossoms adorn the jade branches.'
🧥 Why not put on warm winter clothes, walk along the winding stone paths, listen to the crunching sound of the snow underfoot, and savor the poetic 'Sparse shadows slant across the shallow water, subtle fragrance floats in the moonlit dusk.' In addition, the scenic area regularly holds events such as Plum Blossom Festivals, including photography competitions, poetry recitations, calligraphy and painting exhibitions, offering a variety of cultural activities that allow visitors to deeply experience the charm of Hunan culture while enjoying the plum blossoms.
4️⃣ Leisure and relaxation, enjoying the slow life of winter
🍵 The winter days on Orange Isle are not only a good time for plum appreciation but also an ideal place for enjoying a slow life. Choose a riverside tea house, brew a pot of hot tea, gaze out the window at the vast misty waves of the river, and the picturesque plum grove on the isle, how pleasant it is.
🛶 Or rent a boat, sail on the Xiang River, and admire the beauty of the plum blossoms on Orange Isle up close, experiencing the wonderful feeling of 'being in a painting.' As night falls and the lights come on, the plum blossoms on Orange Isle appear even more delicate under the light, and walking on the isle with the interplay of light and shadow brings a unique sense of quiet romance.

Changsha | Alone in the cold autumn, the Xiang River flows north, at the head of Orange Isle
The poem 'Qin Yuan Chun - Changsha' from the textbook is memorized by heart, and for so many years I've only seen these black characters on white paper, never truly experiencing every word of the poem. This trip to Changsha, I finally got my wish to come to the banks of the Xiang River, to see Orange Isle for myself.
Alone in the cold autumn, the Xiang River flows north, at the head of Orange Isle.
Seeing the mountains all red, the layered forests dyed; the river so clear, the boats racing.
Eagles soaring high, fish gliding in shallow waters, all creatures under the frosty sky vying for freedom.
Feeling melancholy and vast, I ask the endless earth, who determines rise and fall?
We arrived at Orange Isle just as the sun was about to set. This large park covers a vast area, and its most famous feature is the statue of Chairman Mao. It would take about an hour to walk there. The park offers electric carts for 20 yuan per person, with a total of 5 stops where you can get on and off five times. On one side there's a large green lawn and gardens, on the other the scenery of the Xiang River and the brightly lit opposite shore. Due to time constraints, we got off at the third stop. The map showed many garden houses, but it was getting dark, so we just strolled along the path at random, then walked towards the group of stone sculptures of Chairman Mao.
We didn't stay long, it was a quick visit!
I can't help but marvel, having a large park by the river is really great. Coming here for a walk in the evening, the air, environment, greenery, and scenery are all wonderful.
Rainy days at the isle
Who got caught in the heavy rain yesterday at 🍊 Isle? The rain wasn't too bad when I was taking photos, but in just a few minutes, a downpour started. I guess many people there got soaked yesterday, and I was no exception. I even took photos for several beautiful ladies, which made me so happy ^_^ The Orange Isle is truly beautiful. The moment I saw Chairman Mao's statue, I was deeply moved. But after the rain, it was so cold that I didn't get to explore much. I really want to go there again!!!
Changsha is great! Come visit next time!!
Changsha has been visited, saw Chairman Mao's statue, ate stinky tofu, drank at Tea Yan Yue Se, ate the silly radish, strolled on the pedestrian street, took photos with dolls, went to Wuyi Square, checked in at Wen He You, and took pictures of the Xiangjiang River night view.
📍Statue of Chairman Mao at Orange Isle
Reserve three days in advance on the official WeChat account, buy the mini-train ticket in advance for 40 RMB per person, take the mini-train to Chairman Mao's statue, and walk about 200 meters to get there. We went at 12 o'clock, and it was super crowded. When taking photos, we could only wait in line for others to finish before squeezing in. In the middle, there was a souvenir photo service charging 20 RMB per photo, and around the corner, facing Chairman Mao's statue, there were many photographers offering to take photos for 10 RMB each, but we didn't have enough time to get one.
The Xiangjiang River night view is right at the Orange Isle subway station exit.
You must take a number for the silly radish; on the first day, there were over 500 people in line!! So we gave up directly, and on the second day at noon, we called a runner to take a number for us. We had to wait about two hours, and we timed it so that we only had to wait a few minutes when we got there!
Tea Yan Yue Se, two cups every day!
There are too many photo spots and check-in places to share them all.
I left Guangdong, but not completely
After leaving Guangdong, it feels like I haven't left at all; I hear Cantonese everywhere in Changsha, as if many people from Guangdong are here having fun.
In the early hours around one or two o'clock, the streets of Changsha are still bustling with people and many food stalls.
You almost always have to queue for a drink at 'TeaYanYueSe'.
The happiest thing for me was visiting Changsha's 5A-rated scenic spots.
For the little train to Orange Isle, it's best not to skimp on the fare; even sitting down, the journey is quite long, let alone walking.
My first visit to Changsha turned out to be like this
I came to Changsha for the first time and it snowed, so does it always snow in Changsha in winter? I experienced a contrast of ice and fire from Xiamen to Changsha. But it's really beautiful! (Forgive me for being a southerner who has never seen snow) Hahaha
On the first day of coming to Changsha, I visited the May 1st Square (Cha Yan is a must NO.1), checked in at the IFS's SEEING and WATCHING. I tasted Changsha's stinky tofu, and sugar rice cake. On the second day, it snowed in Changsha, and I went to check in at the Orange Island, and went to Jiefang West in the evening to experience Changsha's city that never sleeps. Did any of you go to the top floor of Wanjiali? I didn't have time to go. It is said to be a luxurious decoration, very photogenic, and there is also the super Wenheyou (Hisense Plaza), this time is a bit rushed, leaving the expectation to the next Changsha station!
Also, the night view of Changsha is really beautiful!
(Does anyone have any good recommendations? Non-mainstream attractions!)

🧋Tea Yan Yue Se: The milk cap of 'One Ask Three Not Zhi' is so delicious😍Zither Kite is also good
🥘Su Kitchen Stir-fry: The chopped pepper fish head I wanted to eat was sold out, the stir-fried beef is very delicious. Next is sour radish stir-fried beef tripe, I feel that sour cabbage vermicelli is average
💣Black Classic Stinky Tofu: There is a not delicious one on Jiefang West Road, it's dry and only has tofu flavor, the one I ate the next day is delicious
👮Liberation West: I specifically went to the police station on Pozijie Street to punch in haha, I do not recommend squatting down and taking pictures with your head in your arms
DAY-2:
Hunan Provincial Museum➡️May 1st Square➡️Changsha South Station
🗿Provincial Museum: Open for reservation 7 days in advance, be sure to make an appointment early, otherwise the free ones will be gone soon. Life advice: You haven't really been to Changsha until you've visited this place!!|||Always hearing about Changsha

As a seasoned traveler, how can you not check in at Orange Island!
As a photographer, I have taken many shots of Orange Island for clients, this is the first time I came to Orange Island with a national flag!🍊Although it's a posed shot, my heart is full of pride and faith as a Chinese. How fortunate to be born in China! I sincerely wish our motherland prosperity.🌿🌸👌
Below are some tips I have summarized for taking photos at the head of Orange Island:
💖Suggestion: Arrive at Orange Island at 7.30 in the morning to take the first train, it's cooler in the morning and there are fewer people, no one is fighting for the spot📷🌸, casually take beautiful shots!😍In the evening: it is suggested to go to Orange Island at 9.00 when there are not many people (the last train back is at 10.30, don't ❗️miss it, otherwise you will have to walk back
💖On sunny days after six o'clock, if you are lucky, you can catch the sunset or evening glow, it's beautiful!!!(just a bit hot)😍🌿
💖Night view: Be sure to turn on the flash or the constant fill light✨
💖Angle: That is, the Jiangwang Pavilion facing Chairman Mao, there are fewer people, and no one is fighting with you for the spot📷👏.
It's been dismantled! Coming to Changsha for a tour in December is definitely a way to repay!|||
|||. How lucky! The fence around the statue on Orange Island was removed ahead of schedule
It was originally planned to be cleaned up by December 20
But when I went to see it on November 30, there was no fence at all
It's clean and you can check in again!
I've sorted out 3️⃣ places to take pictures of the statue
It's not crowded at all, it's not only niche, but also more out of the picture
-
1️⃣Orange Island Head Wangjiang Pavilion and nearby
To take a photo with the great man on Orange Island, besides the statue directly below
You can also go to Wangjiang Pavilion and take pictures with the frame structure of pavilions, terraces and pavilions
📍Metro Line 2 Orange Island Station Exit 2, it is recommended to take a sightseeing car to the statue
-
2️⃣Bisha Lake Metro Exit
Every time I come to Changsha with friends and don't have time to go to Orange Island, I will come to this location
Just cross the road as soon as you get out of the subway
First take a picture through the fence with the phone's telephoto lens❺
Then continue to the left, there will be a viewing platform
You can take a picture of the Xiangjiang River and the statue
📍Metro Line 4 Bisha Lake Station Exit 5, cross the road when you come out
-
3️⃣Xiangjiang River Beach Park
You can directly step on the water of Xiangjiang River and take a photo with the statue!
It's even more beautiful when the lights are on at night!
📍Metro Line 3/4 Fubu River Station Exit 5, walk a few minutes to reach the river
-
📷Photo tips
✔️The pictures are all taken with a mobile phone, the focal length is completely enough!
✔When shooting a distant view, let the photographer step back a few steps, then zoom in a few times to use telephoto shooting, so that the statue and the portrait appear the same size
✔️It's cloudy in Changsha these days, you can change the sky with magic sky in post-production, the picture will look better
