For me, the Ladakh road trip is the adventure of a lifetime. Known for its rugged mountains, serene monasteries, and crystal-clear lakes, Ladakh is the perfect destination for road trip enthusiasts. Here’s my suggested itinerary: Day 1: Fly to Delhi Day 2: Early morning flight to Leh. Take time to rest and acclimate to the high altitude to avoid acute mountain sickness. Take a slow walk around the town center. Day 3: Explore Leh and the nearby monasteries. Day 4: Leh - Khardung-La Pass - Nubra Valley Day 5: Nubra Valley - Turtuk Village - Nubra Valley Day 6: Nubra Valley - Pangong Lake Day 7: Pangong Lake - Changla Pass - Leh Day 8: Leh - Tso Moriri Lake (or go directly from Pangong to Tso Moriri to save time—the road is beautiful). Day 9: Tso Moriri - Tanglang La Pass - Leh Day 10: Fly out from Leh. The Ladakh road trip offers countless opportunities for breathtaking photography. Be sure to bring a good camera and plenty of memory cards! You can also use a drone (flycam) in certain spots for stunning aerial shots. #roadtrips

The trip to Ladakh is one of my most memorable experiences. I visited Ladakh in autumn because I had heard that the region is especially beautiful during this season. Indeed, that proved to be true. With its golden landscapes and crisp air, late September to early October is the perfect time to witness how the region transforms as the vibrant greenery fades into shades of gold, orange, and brown. Here are the places where I experienced the beauty of autumn: Leh: When we arrived in Leh, the trees in the city were still mostly green, so we decided to head to the Hemis Monastery. Fortunately, the trees there were beginning to turn yellow. Pangong Lake and Tso Moriri: In autumn, the stark contrast of barren mountains, shimmering lakes, and golden poplar trees creates stunning views. The colors of the lakes were truly amazing. Changthang Valley: On the road from Leh to Tso Moriri, we saw an abundance of yellow and red trees, turning the desert landscape into a bright and vibrant picture. #autumnbeauty

From my inn yesterday, it was only 5 minutes by foot but it felt far because it was cold hehe. Every time I pass by here I am always greeted with the word "Juleh" which means Hello, in Leh I am mistaken for a Malaysian while in Jammu and Jaipur it is mistaken for a Ladakh. Operational hours are around 9/10 am to 7 pm the market is already quiet and dark. Have you ever enjoyed hanging out at a travel agent until 8 pm I was afraid to go home until I forgot the way home because it was dark. The place is very quiet and away from the noise of the streets and the market. My room was comfy and they provide hot drinking water as well as simple breakfast. The added bonus is hot shower with good water pressure. While foreigners can't actually enter the army camp itself, the drive there is spectacular. The road ends right at this dramatic point where you're surrounded by these ancient, weathered mountains that look like they've been there forever. What makes it worth the trip is the view over the Nubra Valley on the way - wide open landscapes with that classic Ladakh beauty. At the base camp area, there's a small memorial and a shrine. The air feels thin and clean, and there's this quiet sense of being at the edge of something vast. I only stayed about 30 minutes because it's seriously high altitude and gets cold fast, but it was a cool experience just to stand where the road runs out, knowing the glacier begins beyond what you can see. Not your typical tourist spot, but interesting if you're already exploring Nubra Valley. Just don't expect facilities - it's very much a functional military zone with basic roadside stops.

Leh market, a walking street market in Leh, has a lot of clothes, restaurants, and things to sell. You can walk around and relax. The atmosphere is nice. You can see the tall mountains in the background. The first 2 days when you arrive in Leh Ladakh, you have to adjust your body to the high altitude first. Nubra Valley Nubra Valley has a central city of Disket. The population is mostly Tibetan. Along the way, you will pass Khardong La Pass and Viewpoint along the way The car can stop to take pictures along the way at any time. The view along the way is very beautiful. There are Sanddune Silver (Silver Desert), Cemel Rider Atv Archery Etc We rode a camel for 500 rupees per person. It was fun and the view was beautiful. You should experience it yourself at least once. Then we will see India in a different perspective. 😃 We traveled to Leh Ladakh on April 14-21, 2025. Day 1: Travel from Bkk-Delhi, then take a connecting flight to Leh by Air India. Day 2: We arrived at Leh Airport around 8 am. A guide was waiting to pick us up at the airport. We took us to rest and adjust our bodies first. Around 3 pm, the guide picked us up and took us to a nearby place in Leh. 📍Leh Palace It is a very beautiful viewpoint of the city. 📍Tsemo Gompa 📍Sunti stupa 📍Leh Main Market Day 3: Depart at 9 am 📍Magnetic Hills, a high hill in the middle of the road 📍Indus and Zangsker River (Indus River, 2-colored water) 📍Moonland (Moon Rock Mountain) 📍Lamayuru Today, we will stay at the hotel in Leh for another day. Day 4: Today, we will travel to Nubra. 📍Khardung La Pass is the highest road in the world that cars can drive on, 5602 meters above sea level. 📍Diskit Gompa, Tibetan Buddhist monastery (Yellow Hat Lama) 📍Nubra Valley has camel riding, archery, ATV. We rode a camel for 500 rupees each. It was fun.😆 Day 5: Travel to Pangong Lake, a lake that is as beautiful as a painting. It was very windy and cold. Day 6: Travel to Tsomoriri. The journey was very beautiful, even though the drive was quite long. But the view on both sides of the road is so enjoyable and never boring. It's so cold here. Day 7: Travel back to Leh But because of heavy snowfall, today we didn't go to the planned places, Taglang La pass - Hemis gonpa. Today we stayed at the same hotel in Leh. Day 8: Travel back to Bkk 🤗 Our 8-day journey, the beauty of the mountains and lakes that healed our hearts and are unforgettable memories. This is the first trip and best trip, Since I was born. and takes 10 days for this trip. Both happy, memories, tired, dangerous and very difficult because of traveling without internet. Can't make incoming and outgoing calls, can only use Wi-Fi when staying at the hotel. And we was getting sick, Because we had reached a very high point. Shortness of breath, fever due to insufficient oxygen in the body. But we made it through until the 10th and arrived home safely😊 There are a lot of pictures but I can't post them all. Nubra, also called Dumra, is a historical region of Ladakh, that is currently administered as a subdivision and a tehsil in the Leh district. Its inhabited areas form a tri-armed valley cut by the Nubra and Shyok rivers. Its Tibetan name Dumra means a "valley of flowers". Khardung La is situated at an elevation of 5,359 meters. It is hailed to be the highest motorable pass all across the globe. Khardung La is located 39.7 Kms from Leh by road. It does not have an airport so you’ll have to take a flight to leh and from there you can board a taxi to reach Khardung La Pass. Here are few other options to reach Khardung La Pass From Leh. March-May and September -October are the best to visit the Mountain Pass. Oxygen and air pressure Levels are extremely low at Khardung La Pass. Nubra valley sub-district lies north-east of Ladakh with Deskit village as its main headquarters. It takes about 5 -6 hrs to reach Nubra from Leh (115 km). The valley is beautiful in with its breath-taking backdrop, clear skies, flowing water and transiting landscape. The valley is however closed in the winter. It was quite surprising to see empty barren land that were all sand dunes! Well it proved to be really fun since I rode an ATV! And let me tell you it was just thrilling! Funny thing is though you find rivers and water in plenty you will see Sand Dunes just like any desert and camels (called Bactrian Camels) as well. This peculiar climate of lack of rainfall, cold, dry and high altitude makes inhabitable for very few animals. This is also provided to be a great place for camel rides!
