The Royal Mile is located at Edinburgh EH1 1QS, United Kingdom which is one of the top few attractions here. This is a long street(1.8km) long that stretches and join 4 connecting streets together for the king and Queens to do a procession with their guards.
From the street alone, you will be able to walk pass and sight the national monument of Scotland, the super popular Edinburgh Castle situated at the top of the hill top and of course be in the heard of the Edinburgh Old Town.
Royal Mile in the city of Edinburgh
Now is the perfect weather for a walk along the Royal Mile. For those who plan to visit Edinburgh for the first time, you don’t need a transport ticket, I assure you. The view along the way is spectacular and eye-catching, so that by the time you reach you destination, you won’t realise how far you’ve walked already.
The two ends of Royal Mile are the Scottish Parliament and Edinburgh Castle. The easier path to climb the Arthur Seat is right next to the Scottish Parliament. Be sure to check it out :D

I suppose we don’t appreciate how lucky we are that we can visit one of the worlds best streets within an hour or two of leaving our homes, from the gates of the Castle the thoroughfare stretches for 1 old Scottish mile to the palace of Holyrood which is the Queens official residence when in Edinburgh passing wonderful old buildings and closes full of history , bars , cafes and restaurants of all types crowd the street as well as lots of small unique shops that sell all types of stuff a visitor might want. A very enjoyable couple of hours can be had wandering down the Royal Mile.
The Edinburgh Royal Mile
If there is somewhere that you should not miss when visiting Edinburgh, it is definitely the Royal Mile. It is not just a straight road but a succession of streets in the Old Town of Edinburgh and runs between the Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace (the two royal residences).
Other than being a lovely area for shopping mainly aimed at tourists, the Royal Mile is also very historical. You can find many interesting monuments and statues here. I personally love the Adam Smith statue. Try looking for it!
The busiest time of the year would definitely be in August when the whole city is preoccupied with the Edinburgh International Festival.

I've always wanted to go to Scotland but the weather always discouraged me so I decided to go in November. That way I wouldn't be disappointed as it rains all the time.
Edinburgh is really a beautiful city that reminds us immediately of the atmosphere of Harry Potter, besides JK Rolling would have started his writing here.
There is not much specific thing to do or visit in Edinburgh. Just let your steps guide you through the streets and alleys of the historic center. I would also recommend visiting some of the cemeteries as they are really incredible, filled with tombstones worthy of horror movies. It is even hard to believe that they are real tombs. That's the charm of this beautiful city. #awesomepic #unforgettableexperiences #scenicspotguide #movielocations

Out of Edinburgh Castle is a street, from the east to the north, about a mile long, called "Royal One Lane", is the famous street in Edinburgh. There are many royal buildings on both sides of the street, which are magnificent. It is also the most prosperous street in Edinburgh. There are many shops and shopping paradise. But what attracts me the most is that there are many beggars on this street. Unlike the domestic clothes, this is either sleek, playing musical instruments, or exotic clothes. Dressing up as a mythical figure and taking pictures of tourists is not so much awkward as it is an art worker.
jacskson's wonderful world. Enchanted by Edinburgh: A Tale of Two Cities
Edinburgh, Scotland's storied capital, seamlessly blends ancient history with the vibrancy of a modern city. Known for its stunning architecture and dynamic cultural scene, Edinburgh stands as a city of contrasts, where medieval relics, Georgian grandeur, and modern life swirl together under the watchful eye of the iconic Edinburgh Castle.
What to Expect
Visitors to Edinburgh can explore the Old Town, a labyrinth of cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, and mysterious closes (alleyways) leading off the Royal Mile. Here, the history of Scotland is etched into every stone and statue, with highlights including St. Giles' Cathedral and the atmospheric Mary King’s Close. Contrastingly, the New Town dazzles with its neoclassical and Georgian elegance, offering spacious streets and the lush gardens of Princes Street.
Experiences and Recommendations
No visit to Edinburgh is complete without witnessing the grandeur of Edinburgh Castle, perched atop an ancient volcano, offering panoramic views of the city. Dive into Scotland's past at the National Museum of Scotland or enjoy the modern art at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. For a truly Scottish experience, attend a ceilidh (traditional Scottish dance) or explore the city’s literary history on a guided tour inspired by famous authors like Sir Walter Scott and J.K. Rowling.
Tips and Tricks
Edinburgh is famously hilly, with steps and steep inclines, so comfortable walking shoes are a must. The weather can change swiftly, so a waterproof jacket and layers are advisable year-round. If visiting in August, the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe transforms the city into a hub of performing arts that should not be missed, though it's wise to book accommodation well in advance during this period.
Personal Reflections
Walking through Edinburgh at dusk, with the lights casting a golden glow on the ancient stone buildings, was a magical experience. The blend of history, culture, and the warmth of Scottish hospitality made every moment memorable. Tasting traditional dishes like haggis while listening to bagpipe music provided a rich, immersive dive into Scottish culture.
Edinburgh offers a unique blend of past and present, making it a captivating destination for history buffs, culture vultures, and adventure seekers alike. It is a city that invites exploration with its rich tapestry of stories, from the dark tales of its medieval alleys to the enlightened avenues of the New Town.

How I met your Edinburgh
It was my first date with Edinburgh. We met at Waverley Station, she greeted me with her cold beautiful smile in a midwinter day. We began with a sharp climb up the staircase (the hotel was supposed to be 500m away, but failed to mention a sharp angled climb), exiting next to Pizza Hut on Cockburn Street. After checking in at Holiday Inn Royal Mile and ditching the backpack, we started our date. She showed me the best she had to offer: the Royal Mile, Bertie's Proper Fish & Chips, Victoria Street and introduced me to her dad, Edinburgh Castle. After 2 days, we had to say good bye, but suffice to say, I'm in love. Edinburgh, you will always have a special place in my heart. Can't wait to see you again. I've found the one.#royalmile #harrypotter
The Timeless Lure of Edinburgh's Royal Mile
My exploration of Edinburgh's Royal Mile was a captivating journey through Scotland's heart, where every cobblestone whispers tales of history, culture, and timeless intrigue. Stretching from the commanding Edinburgh Castle atop Castle Rock down to the regal Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Mile is not just a street but the lifeline of the Scottish capital's Old Town.
Walking down the Royal Mile, I was transported into a world where medieval buildings lean closely together, narrow closes (alleys) lead to hidden courtyards, and the air is thick with the legends of Scotland's past. The Mile buzzes with life, hosting street performers, traditional shops selling tartan and whisky, and cafes that offer a cozy refuge with a warm Scottish welcome.
The visit to Edinburgh Castle was a highlight, offering panoramic views of the city and a deep dive into Scotland's turbulent history. The Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny were particularly awe-inspiring, embodying the nation's pride and heritage.
Further along, St Giles' Cathedral stood as a beacon of Scottish Reformation, its stunning stained glass windows and intricate architecture offering a moment of reflection amidst the hustle and bustle of the Mile.
Delving into the closes revealed a different side of Edinburgh, where history felt alive and personal. Mary King’s Close, now an underground historical tour, offered a glimpse into 17th-century life in Edinburgh, complete with tales of plague, poverty, and everyday struggle.
Sampling traditional Scottish fare at a pub along the Mile, from haggis to Cullen skink, was both a culinary adventure and a warm embrace of local culture. Accompanied by a dram of fine Scotch whisky, it was a toast to the enduring spirit of Scotland.
As the day turned to dusk, the Royal Mile took on an ethereal quality, with the setting sun casting long shadows over the ancient stone. The sound of bagpipes filled the air, a soul-stirring end to a day spent in the heart of Scottish history.
Remember, the Royal Mile is best explored on foot, with an open mind and plenty of time to wander, explore, and soak in the atmosphere. Each turn and close holds a story, waiting to be discovered by those who look beyond the surface.
My journey along the Royal Mile was more than just a walk through Edinburgh; it was a voyage through time, where the past and present of Scotland intertwine, offering endless tales of heroism, heartbreak, and the undying allure of the Scottish capital.

Strolling through the cobblestone streets of the Old Town, I felt transported to a different era, with every alleyway and building whispering tales of the past🚶♀️.
The majestic Edinburgh Castle, perched atop a volcanic rock, offered not just a journey through Scotland's turbulent history, but also panoramic views of the city's skyline and beyond. The sight of the city spread out beneath a cloudy sky was both dramatic and awe-inspiring🌆.
For those exploring Edinburgh, a walk down the Royal Mile is a must. This historic thoroughfare is lined with quaint shops, traditional pubs, and hidden closes, each with its own story. Don't miss the chance to try some Scottish whisky or a hearty meal in one of the local pubs🥃.

A Fascinating Walk at Royal Mile🏴
#timetotravel
The Royal Mile is one of the tourist attractions in Edinburgh and is not to be missed. Love the architecture and the entire vibe of the high street. There are a lot going on, there are street performers, restaurants, cafes , souvenir shops and pubs. We really enjoyed walking down the Royal Mile. What more can a tourist want and need when Royal Mile has it all? Just be aware that everything here is a little pricey so prepare to spend more for food. Also, it requires a lot of walking and there is a steep incline so just take your time. You can just stop at a pub for a drink then resume a later. Enjoy your stroll!

Royal Mile High Street
#ediinsider
After my friend and I visited the Edinburgh Castle and had lunch, we went to the nearby streets to explore. We later came to know it as The Royal Mile High Street.
The street was very bubbly. We saw a crowd was gathering. The reason was that a juggler was performing. We stayed and watched his performance. We were truly entertained by him as he was very skilful and he was comical too.
The Royal Mile is a succession of streets forming the main thoroughfare of the Old Town of the city of Edinburgh in Scotland. Thus, we got to see many historical buildings over here.
Address: 109 The Royal Mile Royal Mile, Edinburgh EH1 1SG, United Kingdom
#109# [Second City Edinburgh] On the Royal Mile, I learned that the standard length of "One Mile" came from that street. It turns out that a Scottish man can wear a skirt. There is still a sea in the world like the North Sea, and the first candlelight dinner in Xiaotians life also takes place in Edinburgh. Why did I become today's me, this British trip 10 years ago, let me realize that the world is different, I want to discover.
