Gaudi's masterpiece in his lifetime: Sagrada Familia
Sagrada Familia is the most famous tourist attraction in Barcelona, and the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world, designed by Gaudi.
He combined Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, and Gaudi spent basically 43 years of his life on the design and construction of the Sagrada Familia, where he was also buried in the basement. Some people questioned why the church took so long to build, Gaudi said: 'My client is not in a hurry.' The client here refers to 'God'. By the time Gaudi died in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was completed.
The current architect is already the fourth generation in charge. The Sagrada Familia has three facades - the 'Nativity Facade', the 'Passion Facade', and the 'Glory Facade', of which the 'Glory Facade' is still under construction; there are eighteen towers, representing the twelve apostles, the Virgin Mary, the four archangels in the Bible, and Jesus Christ. As of January 2023, eleven have been completed.
Art critic Reiner Zerbst once said when describing the Sagrada Familia: 'There may not be any similar church buildings in the entire history of art', Paul Goldberger described it as: 'the most extraordinary personal interpretation since Gothic architecture'.
cassia_serenity_valentine Nothing is Art if it doesn’t come from Nature
Sagrada Familia is one of the most iconic art piece designed by Antoni Gaudi.
It is the largest unfinished Catholic Church in the world.
To date, the church still under construction and it would take many years to complete.
Maybe many people could not wait for the church to be built on that day.
I hope I got a chance to revisit this magical place again when it is fully built.

Barcelona is located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea. It is the second largest city in Spain, the capital of the Catalonia Autonomous Community, and the capital of the province of Barcelona (belonging to the Catalonia Autonomous Community). The Catalan Autonomous Community Parliament, administrative agencies, and high court are all located here.

Its main ethnic group is the Catalan people. [1]
Barcelona became the capital of Catalonia and the Kingdom of Aragon in 1137, and in the early 15th century, Barcelona and its territories were incorporated into Spain.

The Sagrada Familia cannot be missed!
The biggest landmark in Barcelona is undoubtedly the Sagrada Familia. It was designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi, and remains unfinished to this day! It started in 1883 and remains a construction site today.
The interior features beautiful stain glassed windows that allow for an unparalleled atmosphere. The roof of the nave has amazing details while the columns were made to resemble branches and trees.

Sagrada Familia - grandest church in Spain
Sagrada Familia was the most astonishing chapels I’ve been to in the world. Stepping into the church was a feast for your eyes - the church was intricately designed in Gaudi’s distinct style. I paid 26Euros for the entry ticket that comes with an audio tour.
Tip: Enter during the dusk period to see the sunlight shine through the stained glass and fill the chapel in the colours of rainbow. #spain #barcelona #lasagradafamilia

Seeing Sagrada Familia and actually experiencing Gaudi’s genius workmanship is amazing! It was truly a dream come true going inside this work of craftsmanship. Going inside was like wandering through a forest due to the numerous architectural intricacies you can find. The whole facade literally tells a story of Jesus’ birth, death, etc. Everywhere we looked, there was history#history

The ONE and ONLY in Centuries if not in millenniums.
Gaudi’s legendary masterpiece.
Got awed and stunned even before entering.
As I wandered around, just can’t help constantly ‘wowing’ about every single brick and angle tailored by the architect.
Grandest church in Spain 🇪🇸
Everyone I talked to recommended Sangrada Familia to me when I said I was going to Spain. At first I was reluctant to go, because it is under construction and some parts of the church building were covered outside, also it restricted your entry time so you had to book in advance and go at the reserved time only. (I saw two tourists with a ticket of 4pm arriving at 5pm and were denied access and asked to buy mew tickets again). It was ABSOLUTELY worth it and the design and details will blow you away! #sangradafamilia #barcelona #architecture

140 Years of History
It is definitely worth visiting the Sagrada Familia towers for a breathtaking view of both the Basilica and Barcelona. The four towers of the Nativity are the oldest, the only ones Gaudi knew of in his lifetime. The four towers of the Passion are the most recent. On each side, a walkway connects the central towers.
It received the designation mostly because of its unique architecture and Gaudí's ability to create something so innovative and artistic
It takes about 2 hours to visit the Sagrada Familia including the towers, the small museum in the basement, and the store. Please note that once inside the basilica, you can stay as long as you like!

Amazing architecture
#bucketlistreboot
As you enter the cathedral you will notice how this building is like no other. This is because of Antoni Gaudi’s philosophy that in nature there are no straight lines. He drew a lot of his inspiration from mother nature and hence his buildings reflect that all across Barcelona. His work showed a lot of promise but also wow-ed many potential critics from quite early on in his career. It is said that his very own architecture lecturer said that “I don’t know if I gave this degree to a madman or a genius.”. I guess some people’s work take years for us to understand it. Back to the cathedral. Whilst there, sit down on one of the benches. You will notice how the stained glass colours beautifully the arches and columns designed as trees. Or how the various cement flowers decorate the walls giving an impression that we are in a concrete forest.

Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) The History Of The Sagrada Família In 1 Minut
Perhaps the most famous Barcelona landmark of all, the Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, more commonly known as simply the ‘Sagrada Família’ is a Roman Catholic church designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. It attracts over 2.8 million visitors each year and is one the world’s most iconic churches.
The Sagrada Família is famous for being one of the most iconic examples of Antoni Gaudí’s unique style, combining elements of Art Nouveau, Catalan Modernism and Spanish Late Gothic design. The theme of nature figures prominently in Gaudí’s design, both in terms of symbolism and the use of organic shapes and forms. The church, when completed, will have three facades each with their own theme and style: the Nativity Facade (dedicated to the birth of Jesus), the Passion Facade (dedicated to the passion of Christ) and the Glory Facade (dedicated to the glory of Jesus). The original designs calls for 18 spires in total, representing the 12 Apostles, the four Evangelists, Mary and Jesus. So far, only eight spires have been completed and it is expected that when the building is complete, it will be the tallest church in the world.
La Sagrada Família - a truly exceptional

Hotels - many close by to choose from.
Food & Restaurants - it’s a tourist area so you have the usual fast food options, plus some nice cafes and restaurants.
Barcelona
Art lovers should all visit Barcelona to see beautiful art by Gaudi and even the only Picasso painted outdoors. Whether you appreciate art or just want a great postable picture, Barcelona should be on your list of places in Europe to visit and explore. Highly recommended to try local tapas and sangria while you're there!

"Basílica de la Sagrada Família" in Barcelona, a building that has been here since 1852 and now is facing a huge renovation expected to be finished by 2026. The Light and Shadow Magic of the Sagrada Familia
If you can only visit one attraction in Barcelona, it must be the Sagrada Familia. After more than 100 years of construction, Sagrada Familia has not yet been completed. It is the most spectacular unfinished building in the world and the only building that has been listed as a World Heritage Site. The design of this church still carries the strong natural color of Gaud. There are many elements in the form of animals and plants designed in blue. Especially the use of light in the church is a sigh of Gaudi's genius. In short, every detail of the church is moving. Gaudi said: "The light of the church is just right, not blind." The stained glass of the Sagrada Familia is made up of geometric patterns, creating a Mediterranean atmosphere that is different from traditional religious figures. He once said: "Art must come from nature.
It is a pity that this is a Gaud work that has not been completed yet.
is also the world's most reputable unfinished building.
The most optimistic estimate is more than 10 years, but according to the lazy personality of the Spaniard, I feel that this number is multiplied by 2.
There are not many people visiting the Sagrada Familia. There is no distinction between the off-season and the peak season. It is recommended to buy tickets in advance, and it is recommended to buy the earliest tickets on the day. Buy a full set of tickets including the tower and the audio guide, and be sure to Line up early.
The construction began on March 19, 1882, and the church that has not yet been completed is still a classic. Many people think that Europe has gone a lot. When the church is too much, it will start to get tired. But no matter how many times you walked in Europe, how many classic churches and castles you have seen, you will be amazed when you come to the Sagrada Familia. go away. The completion of the tower will make the Sagrada Familia the tallest church in the world. The Sagrada Familia has three facades: the "born facade" facing the east, the "difficult facade" facing the west, and the "glory facade" facing the south. A variety of beautiful and unique carvings on the birth face. Use a lot of natural elements, shells, plants and so on. The birth faade was completed as early as 1935 before the church construction was interrupted, and the Gaud-style infection was the most direct. The faade was built in accordance with Gaudi's 1917 design concept. It was started on a brief plan in 1954 and was completed in 1976. The overall character of the crucifixion facade is simple and weather-beaten, and the image of the crucifix on the cross on the top of the tower is paralyzed. These controversial designs come from the sculptor Josep Maria Subirachs. The construction of the glory facade began in 2002 and will be the largest and most memorable of the three faades, symbolizing the ascension of Jesus. The facade will also depict scenes such as hell and purgatory, as well as seven sins and seven virtues.
