Seoul Museum of Art - Revisiting the Path
Seoul Museum of Art located in Seosomun-dong.
It is also very close to Deoksugung Palace, so it is often used as a day course from Deoksugung Palace to Jeongdong-gil to the Museum of Art. All exhibitions except for special exhibitions are free to view, but the quality of the exhibitions is so high that it belies the fact that they are free. Currently, they are showing "Re-Exploring the Path" and "Eternal Narcissist, Cheon Kyung-ja." "Re-Exploring the Path" acknowledges the uncertain foundation we are standing on in this reality, as the biological and economic constraints brought about by social distancing and border closures have revealed the vulnerability of our lives, and makes us reconsider the value of interdependence and learning to overcome this.
This exhibition was jointly planned by Seoul Museum of Art, Artspace, and Sydney, and it is an exhibition that takes 'learning', the institutional agenda of Seoul Museum of Art, as its main attitude and method of planning. This exhibition invited Australian artists, collectives, and Indigenous art centers that form one axis of the Asia-Pacific region, and broadly examined contemporary Australian art practices across generations. It reconsidered the images that come to mind when thinking of Australia and broke away from fixed perspectives. Through approximately 60 works, it “re-explores the path” to encounter various artists such as Nyapyayapha Yunupingu, Daniel Boyd, Leonard Walker, Leila Stevens, Laurence Pennington, Robert Fielding, Richard Bell, Madison Bycroft, Matthew Griffin, and Megan Cope.
Even if it is not this exhibition, I recommend the Seoul Museum of Art for couples who want to date near Deoksugung Palace, as it has high-quality and diverse exhibitions.
