Ta Prohm: Jungle temple enveloped by nature
Ta Prohm Temple is a small but atmospheric temple located in the Angkor Archaeological Park in Cambodia. It was built in the late 12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, and is dedicated to his father, Dharanindravarman II. The temple is located in a remote area of the park, and is relatively untouched by restoration efforts. This gives it a wild and overgrown feel, with trees and other vegetation growing freely among the ruins.

Tomb Raider Temple
Ta Prohm is the modern name of a temple near the city of Siem Reap, Cambodia, approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray.
It was built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th century and early 13th century.
The temple was built without mortar and, after it was abandoned, trees took root in the loosened stones.
The trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of the most popular temples with visitors to the area.
It has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992.
Almost 80,000 people were required to live in or visit the temple, including over 2,700 officials and 615 dancers.

Incredible Siem Reap Cambodia ✨😍🇰🇭🙌🏼
I have recently traveled to Siem Reap Cambodia and explored Angkor Wat and other incredible stunning temples, such as Ta Prohm Temple (Tomb Raider) honestly, I have never ever seen as stunning temples as the ones in Cambodia, it is highly recommended. 🙌🏼 I also went to the biggest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia - Tonle Sap Lake. In my 8 days there, I had an amazing time to interact with the friendly locals, I guess this beautiful city will be my go-to hideaway place, it’s so close from Bangkok, I’m sure I’m gonna be back one day. I booked my flight from Trip and as early as now, I have been checking flights going back there. 🛫 Have you been here before? 😉 #timetotravel #cambodia #siemreap #angkorwat #bayontemple #templerun #taprohm

Ta Prohm Temple - Where trees have dominated
Ta Prohm's state of ruin is a state of beauty, which is investigated with delight and left with regret. Ta Prohm is locating southwest of the East Mebon and east of Angkor Thom. Its outer enclosure is near the corner of Banteay Kdei. It can be accessed by enter the monument from the west and leave from the east entrance. Ta Prohm is the undisputed capital of the kingdom of the Trees'. It has been left untouched by archaeologists except for the clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration. Because of its natural state, it is possible to experience at this temple the wonder of the early explorers when they came upon these monuments in the middle of the nineteenth century. #taprohm #angkor #hindu #hindutemple #angkorwat

The Ta Prohm temple was the setting for the film "Tomb Raider" and what practically put Cambodia on the tourism map.
⠀
This temple was abandoned for around 300 years and nature showed all its power by "embracing" the stones.
⠀
Several trees could not be removed because the roots were embedded in the foundation of the temple. #historicallandmarks
This temple, made famous by the film "Laura Croft: Tomb Raider," is truly magnificent, iconic, and Instagram-ready monument and testament to blooming life and forces of nature amidst the ruins of the now extinct Khmer Civilization. Highly recommended!
#happynewyear
This is the temple made famous by films such as Tomb Raider where the jungle has encroached so far onto the temple as to all but destroy it. It is amazing to see how the trees have taken root into the walls and how nature will ultimately win out. Do not missed to visit this place!

Tabu Cage Temple "Tomb Raider" location
1186, Khmer King Jayavarman built a classical Bashu style Tabu Cage Temple in the southeast of the Victory Gate in Angkor City to sacrifice his mother. The Tabu Cage Temple was built entirely in accordance with the temple with dual functions of temples and monasteries, and was also equipped with stilts, priests and dancers.
After seven hundred years of change, the ancient city that had already decayed was discovered by the French, but the ancient temple was not in the past, even the century-old tree had to compete with it. The ancient stone walls and corridors had already been worn by the roots. Throughout, the ancient temple had to linger in the roots of the big trees and insisted on not being crushed. The winding of the roots and the persistence of the ancient temple became a stark contrast, and it also brought shock to the world. The photos of the shocking people in the Hollywood movie Tomb Raider are shot here, which is one of the reasons why many fans come to feel mysterious.
Today's Tabu Cage Temple is still under the roots of the tree, and it is bound to be a fan of the century. Because the roots and the temple are closely combined, people can't protect the cultural relics, and they can't think of it. The method of wilting old trees and not damaging ancient temples can only see the deeper combination of the two...
The popular movie "Tomb Raider" has taken the scene here. The entanglement of nature and faith makes this the third most popular attraction of Angkor after Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple. Its really hard to express the kind of shock in your heart. The Tabulung Temple has to come to Cambodia to have a card.
In 1186, Khmer king Jayavarman built a Tabu cage temple with a classical Bayu style in the southeast of the Victory Gate in Angkor Thom to worship his mother. The Tabu Cage Temple was built entirely in accordance with the temple with dual functions of temples and monasteries, and was also equipped with stilts, priests and dancers.
A few hundred years later, the dynasty was destroyed and the Ta Prohm temple was submerged in the rain forest until it was discovered again. The stone-built temples are intertwined with the towering ancient trees. The ancient temples are proudly maintained in this way, but the ancient temples are also damaged in this way, especially compared to the first time I came to Angkor ten years ago. The destruction of the Ta Prohm temple has become more and more serious. Nowadays, in the Ta Prohm temple, it is a collapsed stone to eat, scaffolding everywhere, and there is an urgent need for protection and repair.
【Cambodia】The filming location of that movie! The Ta Prohm ruins.
The ruins of Ta Prohm, covered with banyan and silk-cotton trees, offer a world view reminiscent of Laputa.
I went on a day trip from Siem Reap, where Angkor Wat is located, by car🚗
Ta Prohm is a temple that was built at the end of the 12th century as a Buddhist temple and is believed to have been later converted into a Hindu temple.
It is actually famous for being the filming location of the movie 'Tomb Raider'!
It's more fun to visit after watching the movie, so be sure to watch it before you go🎞️

Ta Prohm Temple 🇰🇭
#2024wish
During my recent journey, I embarked on a captivating expedition to explore the renowned Ta Prohm Temple nestled in the enchanting Siem Reap Province. This awe-inspiring destination boasts a breathtaking panorama that left me in awe. As I ventured through the ancient temple grounds, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and grandeur of Cambodia's rich history.
Ta Prohm was originally named “Rajavihara” which means “Monastery of the King.” Different aspects are dedicated to important figures in the King’s life such as his mother, guru and elder brother. As such, this temple forms a complementary pair with the temple monastery of Preah Khan which was modeled on the King’s father.
When it was new and thriving, the site hosted more than 12,500 people (including 18 high priests and 615 dancers) and a further 800,000 people in surrounding villages made their living working there. Expansions and additions to the temple continued through into the rule of Srindravarman at the end of the 15th century.
Your trip to Cambodia will be truly meaningful and leave you with unforgettable memories. I am already excited about visiting this remarkable place once more in 2024. #familytrip #localguides #mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #taprohmgemple #ancienttemples
Ta Promh Temple 🤍
My recent trip to Ta Prohm Temple was an unforgettable adventure that immersed me in the mystical allure of ancient Cambodia. Known for its magnificent fusion of history and nature, Ta Prohm Temple offers a captivating experience that transports visitors to a bygone era.
As I stepped into the temple grounds, I was immediately struck by the ethereal atmosphere. The temple's crumbling stone structures, entwined with massive tree roots, create a mesmerizing sight that evokes a sense of awe and wonder. Walking through the temple's corridors and courtyards felt like exploring a lost kingdom, with each corner revealing hidden chambers and intricate carvings.
What sets Ta Prohm apart is its harmonious coexistence with nature. Towering trees, their branches reaching out like protective arms, cast dappled sunlight onto the moss-covered stones, creating a dreamlike ambiance. The interplay between the ancient architecture and the relentless embrace of nature is a sight to behold, leaving visitors spellbound.
Exploring the temple's labyrinthine passageways was a highlight of my visit. Walking through narrow corridors and being surrounded by towering stone walls made me feel like an explorer uncovering long-forgotten secrets. The temple's mysterious aura and the serene beauty of the surrounding jungle made it a truly immersive experience.
It's worth noting that Ta Prohm Temple can attract a significant number of tourists, especially during peak hours. This popularity can detract from the tranquility and contemplative atmosphere that the temple offers. To fully appreciate its mystical allure, I recommend visiting early in the morning or during less crowded periods.
While Ta Prohm Temple may lack some of the extensive restoration seen in other temples, it is precisely this "ruined" state that adds to its charm. It allows visitors to witness the delicate balance between human history and nature's relentless march, creating a hauntingly beautiful scene that truly transports you to another time.
In conclusion, a trip to Ta Prohm Temple is an enchanting and awe-inspiring experience. Its unique blend of ancient architecture and nature's embrace offers a glimpse into the past and a connection to the natural world. For those seeking a journey through time and a chance to marvel at the symbiosis of history and the environment, Ta Prohm Temple is an absolute must-visit.

Ta Prohm, a mesmerizing 12th-century Buddhist temple nestled within the UNESCO World Heritage site, captivated me during my visit last year. The temple, adorned with intricate stone carvings, stands as a testament to ancient Khmer architecture. What truly sets Ta Prohm apart is its enchanting fusion with nature. Giant trees, their roots intertwining with the temple's ruins, create an awe-inspiring scene.
As I explored the corridors, the play of light and shadow added a mystical touch to the historical ambiance. The jungle that surrounds Ta Prohm provides an immersive experience, making it a unique destination among Cambodia's archaeological wonders. The delicate balance between ancient architecture and nature's reclamation left an indelible impression, offering a glimpse into the ever-evolving tapestry of history at this exceptional UNESCO site.
In 2024, I wish to visit Sibu.

Ta Phrom Temple is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This is one if the 3 popular temple being visited by more than 1.5 million people a year. This temples are built in between of 12th and 13th century and has its uniqueness among the other 3 temples.
You ask me which is my favourite, it will be definitely the Ta Phrom Temple as this place has many photogenic spots with tree roots growing through the temple making it looks like a place out in a romantic forest.
Entrance fees to Ta Phrom comes together with the visit to the 2 other temples of ankor wat and bayon which will be explained in another post.
Why should we visit Ta Prohm?
Ta Prohm is a beautiful and unique temple located in Angkor, Cambodia. It is known for its stunning architecture and the way it has been overtaken by nature. The temple has been left in much the same condition as it was when it was rediscovered and this makes it a fascinating place to visit. The trees and roots growing through the temple walls give it an almost mystical feel. Ta Prohm is also a popular filming location, having been used in the movie Tomb Raider. It is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in history, architecture, or just want to take some stunning photos in a unique setting.

If you are thinking of what to do in siemreap, you have to definitely visit the temples here. They are more than 1000 over years old and these temples are still standing tall and strong.
I recommend to book a tour guide to explain each temple story and the crafting on the walls. Most tours here covers 3 popular temple, The Ankor wat, Byron temple and Ta Prohm Temple. I will dedicate a post dedicated to ankor wat alone as its an amazing must visit temple. Above are the temple from Byron and Prohm Temple.
For me, Ta Prohm Temple is my favourite as you see all these overgrown trees growing thru the temple making this uniquely special and beautiful. Oh and also, this is where the Tomb Raider film was also filmed at.
The Trees Roots Temple

Ta Prohm was built in Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries by King Jayavarman VII to dedicate his mother.
It is located 1.2 kilometers 4 minutes drive from Ta Keo. Ta Prohm is a temple of towers, closed courtyards and narrow corridors. Many of the corridors are impassable, clogged with carved stone blocks dislodged by the roots of the trees.
Ta Prohm is one of the three most visited sites by the tourists, because it is in much the same condition in which it was found. The combination of trees, roots growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings make it become more photogenic.
A history place to visit 💙 #siemreap
Time to grow some roots here at Ta Prohm aka "Tomb Raider" temple.
This is well known as the Tomb Raider temple. Again, very busy but a place you should visit if visiting the area. We even managed to take some photos without other tourists in - you have to wait for this so maybe not viable if you are on a tour. Make sure your guide/driver drops you at one entrance and collects from the other side so you can experience the whole complex. #wintergetaway

Ta Prohm has very interesting temples as well. Easily doable on your trip to Siem Reap by tuk-tuk. You canot help but wonder about the lives of those who walked these same paths so very many years ago. Humbling to say the least. Who cannot help but be impressed? #givethanks #taprohmtemple

[Buddhist Footprint] Ta Prohm Temple, if you have seen Tomb Raider, you may remember here.
, built in 1186 to commemorate the mother. It used to be a shrine. Over time, it was invaded by tropical trees that grew wildly. The roots of a python like a python filled the temple and went deep into the building. The walls of the stone tower collapsed. The whole temple was intertwined with gravel and plants. A "maze."
Located on the east side of Angkor Wat, Tabu Cage Temple is a large stone-built Buddhist temple, one of the main buildings in the Angkor ruins, and the location of the movie Tomb Raider. Built at the end of the 12th century, it was built by the seventh king of mo to commemorate his mother, also known as the mother temple. At that time there were 3,000 monks in the temple, including 18 sorghums.
Tabu Cage Temple is undoubtedly the most artistic relic of Angkor and an indispensable visit for every traveler. Unlike other temples, its appeal is that the temple has been swallowed up by the jungle and looks like the first time an European explorer discovered the Angkor temple.
In fact, the forests around the temple have been cleaned up, and only the largest old trees remain in place, and people regularly pruned them instead of being as primitive as the collapsed columns. But in any case, visiting the Tabu Cage Temple is a unique experience.
entrance, the stone is everywhere, as if you have just discovered this place. The tall trees in the Tabu Cage Temple cover the sky, so the tour group will visit at noon, and the shade will make the tour easier and cooler, so the crowd will be rolling. To see the most memorable views of the Tabu Cage Temple, come in the morning when most travelers don't arrive. If you especially want to turn around in a maze-like corridor, and then take a closer look at the tree roots that are quite characteristic, it will take at least 2 hours.
The thick and thick roots of the tree stems reach the roof, wrap the stone beams, explore the stone seams, wrap the corridors, climb the doors and windows, they are everywhere, almost integrated with the temple, you have me I have you. Exquisite stone carvings can be seen everywhere, and the light and shadow are mottled, depicting the scenes of the past.
The collapsed cloister, visitors may have climbed the ruined corridor before, but now this behavior has been banned, both to protect the temple and to take into account the safety of visitors. Many places now have signs prohibiting climbing. Many of the boulders here weigh more than 1 ton and are in an unstable equilibrium. Once collapsed, the consequences are unimaginable.
Among the many intricate root systems, the tree in the easternmost tower of the courtyard center is the most popular, and the nickname "crocodile tree". This scene is very well-known, and many photos of the travel notes and descriptions of the Tabu Cage Temple will use this scene. There is a viewing platform under the tree to take photos with the trees. Wide angle is a must, otherwise it is difficult to put on a big tree.
