Small-City Travel in Japan / Takamatsu -> Okayama
It's been years since I've been to Japan...🤗
I searched and searched beforehand to travel to a city I'd never been to before ~
Japan, in particular, requires careful consideration of passes, so I pre-purchased the "Kagawa Wide Pass" on the website and bookmarked it on my phone beforehand~
Day 1>
Sanuki Udon Ueharaya Main Branch -> Ritsurin Park ->
Kid Coffee -> Kuishinbo (Yakisoba and Okonomiyaki Izakaya) -> Symbol Tower
Day 2>
🍜Yamagoe Udon (Why didn't I take a picture of the udon?? Yamagoe Udon is a must. It's even tastier than the udon I had the day before. The tempura is different too~) I really wanted to go here, so I took public transportation. It was exhausting~ㅋㅋㅋ
The udon bus tour is also fine~
-> Kotohira Shrine (It's a long walk... It's a hellish staircase, so it's a great thigh workout. The view is worth it, right~~??) To the right of the entrance to the stairs at the beginning is "Akaboshi Cafe" I was going to come down and have coffee... but when I came down, it was just before closing 😅~ I took a bite of the canelé while getting takeout and it was so delicious 😋 I regret not buying a box.. They make it themselves!! It was a famous canelé restaurant..
The coffee was also delicious~~
-> Chunpungdang Minamishinmachi Branch (Before going out for dinner, I took some bread to go because it was famous.. A snack to eat on the boat the next day)
-> Unagi Nosuke Takamatsu Branch (The eel rice bowl is so delicious)
🌟My number one pick is the eel rice bowl restaurant.. I want to go back because of this and the peach wine~~~ Why did I only buy one bottle~~ 🍑 The wine was so delicious. (My husband bought alcohol without telling me, so I thought he only bought it for himself, but I found out in Korea he bought it for me!!)
Day 3>
Takamatsu was a 3-day, 2-night trip...
I took a boat to Olive Park in the morning~~ I bought some bread the day before and had lunch at a convenience store...
(I had to take a boat and a bus to Takamatsu because of the time schedule, which was a bit disappointing~ Check the bus schedule carefully.)
I want to go again... The udon pass was sold out when I went, so I'd love to go again.
I left my luggage in Okayama and headed to the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. On the way, I stopped by the famous Michelin-starred "Miso Katsu Umenoki" 🍛 The tonkatsu was really delicious!! I arrived late, so all the shops in Kurashiki were closed... lol
I'll go again the next day.
Day 4>
Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter had a lot to see, so I spent a day wandering around.
I bought a bag along the way ~ I heard they make them themselves, and they even gave me a business card.
They were unique and each one was uniquely colored. This place is famous for their peach 🍑, so I bought some jam, and as a gift, I also bought a Moomin collaboration (cute Moomin design on the case). I bought an udon magnet, but I should have bought it in Takamatsu. I just bought it at the 🐰 Miffy character shop. I also bought some sake. I also had coffee, but I can't remember the name of the place, but there are so many places in Japan that serve delicious coffee.
☕️GjG Espresso - The coffee was really good!!
🍚🧈 Kamataya (Tofu Cuisine) Run by an elderly couple, everything is delicious! The tofu disguised as fish was a bit shocking. I thought it was real fish.
☕️ The Coffee House Daiku Honmachi - Another cup of coffee before dinner. I looked it up on Google and it was just okay.
There are too many photos to upload, but since our hotel is connected to the train station in Okayama, we were able to get around easily. Since we were mainly going to sights and shopping, I thought it would be good to stay somewhere close, so I tried to make it as convenient as possible for our trip home.
Before taking the tram to Okayama Castle (Crow Castle) and Korakuen, my husband found this Blue Ribbon Omelette restaurant. But the locals also seem to order a lot of ramen. It's a shame we couldn't get the ramen. We waited in line to get in.
On the left side of the alley leading to this restaurant is a kitchen select shop (Lifestyle). The dishes are pretty, but they're restrained. Because of the weight... If my husband hadn't bought a lot of alcohol, he might have bought it!! Hahahaha~
And if you go down a little further, there's a famous bakery. The locals were buying a lot of bread🥐.. I should've bought all the bread in the fridge.
It was so so delicious!! When you come out of the store, there's also a fruit shop where you can buy 🍊 tangerines for a bit cheaper~ It's much cheaper than the supermarket. So I bought some on the way out after eating and went to Okayama Castle~~~ I bought some fruit and walked happily👫👣
☕️ Cafe Kitsune - This place only does takeout. I deliberately went to a roastery cafe, but there were no seats, so I took a quick break outside in a Mercedes Benz... The coffee was delicious!
For the rest of my trip, I wandered around Aeon Mall, stopping by Uniqlo, Muji, and Don Quijote. Okayama is so delicious that I went to "Yakitori Mugen" twice for dinner. 🍢 Every single piece was delicious, and it was perfect. 🍻 It went perfectly with a cold beer👍🏻 The owner grilled it so deliciously~~
It was so delicious that I came back two days in a row. I don't think he charged me any service or tax.
I ate more than the first day, but I noticed they undercharged. Since you order through an app, there's no way the price is wrong!! They asked me when I was going to Korea... The staff were all so friendly~
It was a week-long trip, but I was so sad~~ I want to go again
🍑 I'll buy some drinks and have some fun.
During this trip, the train was suddenly delayed and I had to wait for almost two hours... Even when I went to eat Yamagoe Udon, the bus was so late, lol. It might have gone as planned, but it could have changed, but this trip made me realize the allure of visiting other small Japanese cities~~ It was great!!😊
