Beautiful Wuzhen! Just 1.5h from Shanghai!
This beautiful well-preserved ancient water town is located in Zhejiang Province, not far from Hangzhou and Shanghai.( 1h30min-2h from Shanghai). The scenic spot is divided into Dongzha (East Scenic Zone 东栅) and Xizha (West Scenic Zone 西栅).
Xizha - it’s the most picturesque, elegant, and well-developed part of the town. It’s larger, quieter, and more modernized than Dongzha. The entire area is crisscrossed with canals, stone bridges, and old-style residences. Many traditional houses are now boutique hotels, cafés, bookstores, and tea houses, but still keep their old-world style.
Activities in Xizha
•Canal Boat Ride – A quiet, beautiful ride in a wooden boat with a boatman rowing.
•Wear Hanfu – Many shops offer rental of traditional Chinese costumes for photos.
•Paper-cutting or Dyeing Workshops – Try your hand at traditional crafts.

🍴 Food & Drink in Xizha
Sanbai Wine (三白酒) – Wuzhen’s traditional rice wine.
Tofu Dishes (臭豆腐, 豆腐花) – A specialty, even the smelly kind!
Wuzhen Pastries – Hand-made traditional cakes and sesame treats. My favourite is the 萝卜饼 - radish fried cake.
You’ll find teahouses, wine shops, and snack stalls all along the canals.
