I recently
I recently visited Xixi National Wetland Park in Hangzhou, and it was a tranquil and refreshing experience. The park's vast network of waterways, lush greenery, and serene ambiance make it a perfect escape from the bustling city. The boat ride through the wetlands was a highlight, offering stunning views of the natural beauty and giving insight into the park's unique ecosystem.
The park also has cultural significance, with displays of traditional silk production and historical dragon boat contests. I appreciated the blend of nature and history. However, navigating the park can be tricky for non-Chinese speakers since most signs and maps are in Chinese. Starting with an electric boat tour is a great way to get oriented.
Overall, Xixi is a must-visit for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful day out. Allocate at least 3-4 hours to fully explore, and don't forget comfortable walking shoes and a camera!

Xixi Wetland, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Xixi Wetland is a large marshland near Hangzhou. It is a national 5A-level scenic area, accessible by bus and subway. There are several entrances, with the main entrance at Zhoujia Village.
We bought boat tickets at the Zhoujia Village Visitor Center and boarded the boat at Zhoujia Village Pier. The boat circled Xixi Wetland, stopping at Yanshui Fishing Village, Shentankou (the filming location of "If You Are the One"), and Jiaolu Tianzhuang, before returning to Zhoujia Village Pier and exiting the scenic area.
It is best to disembark at Jiaolu Tianzhuang and visit Gaozhuang (which hosted Emperor Kangxi), Xixi Wetland Museum, and Xixi Paradise. You can then return to the scenic area with your ticket for the day and take the boat back to Zhoujia Village Pier.
It is best to plan a full day here. Unfortunately, it rained all day when we visited, which diminished the scenery.
