Jinggang was originally named Lujiang, Tang Dynasty general Li Jing once stationed here, because of its good military management, never harassing people, so later people changed the name of Jinggang. Jinggang Town is located on the west bank of the Xiangjiang River, and has the advantage of water transportation since ancient times. It was once a prosperous merchant port for the distribution of Sanxiang materials. It is known as "Xiaohankou". Jinggang Town was once one of the four rice cities in Hunan, and one of the main distribution ports in Huaiyan in the province. The merchants gathered and the market was active. At that time, there was a folk song saying: "The boat to Jingjiangkou, the wind is not going", indicating the prosperity of Jinggang Town at that time. Jinggang Town has retained a lot of Qing Dynasty buildings, there are ancient station, ancient street, ancient workshop, etc., of which the most eye-catching is the ancient Qinglou known as Hongtaifang. It is said that the tax of Qinglou was once the second largest income of Jinggang Town. The renovation of the Qinglou has caused a lot of controversy, and finally, in the spirit of restoring history and respecting history, the Qinglou has been repaired more thoroughly. The layout of the ancient town is "Eighth Street, Four Lanes and Seven Wharf", most of the attractions are along an old street along the river bank, the old street east-west, composed of "food security street", "half street", "health street", "security street" from west to east, the total length of 1275 meters. Eight of the ten attractions in Jinggang Ancient Town are on the old street, which are: Guanyin Temple, Ironware Cultural Museum, former site of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the former Communist Party of China, Hongtaifang, Jinggang Shadow Puppet Art Museum, Bayuantang, Jiangnan Folk Cultural Relics, Wuyuan.
