西双版纳是云南最大的热带雨林城市，这里有着浓浓的傣族风情，甚至还交织着很多东南亚氛围。中午到达西双版纳，住在告庄西双景旅游区东部面对澜沧江的一个不大的酒店。告庄西双景是景洪市一处新型旅游综合体。安顿好住处，沿着店铺林立的街道西行，一座金碧辉煌寺庙映入眼帘，它就是告庄西双景的景洪大金塔寺。景洪市大金塔寺，也称缅甸大金塔，是景洪市的总佛寺，主管了景洪市内二百零五座寺院。这座高大的建筑非常有异域风情。塔的高度超过了60米，是告庄西双景最高的建筑物，建筑风格是经典的东南亚风格。大金塔采用的是四边形结构，据了解，这四个面的每个面朝向的不同方向，代表的是四个国家，分别是中国、泰国、老挝与缅甸。大金塔前是伍巴古达长老雕像，大金塔寺的组成部分，民间称其为“降魔消灾罗汉”。此尊伍巴古达长老雕像由泰国工匠塑造。在大金塔寺广场上还有钟楼，人身象首雕像，南传佛教文化的一部分，坐落于景洪市大金塔寺的一侧。大金塔寺金碧辉煌、美轮美奂的造型，是南传佛教建筑的经典之作。
