Jiangwan is named after the Lijiang River. Since the Song Dynasty, Jiangwan Town has become the most important port in Shanghai. The origin of the name "Tongjiang Bay" depends on Shanghai opening more than 170 years ago. Since Jiangwan Town is close to the concession, foreign businessmen are competing to set up a factory here. From the beginning of the Republic of China, there were more than 300 shops in the town. The knitting crafts, cotton knitting, brewing, chemical and other factories were established, especially the "model factory rubber factory" as the first rubber factory in Shanghai, and the market was quite prosperous.
