Lingyin Temple

4.7/5
21.1k reviews

Lingyin Temple, also known as "Yunlin Temple," is located at the foot of Lingyin Mountain on the west side of West Lake. With its serene environment, it is the oldest renowned temple in Hangzhou, preserving numerous exquisite cultural relics from various dynasties. This is the place where Jigong became a monk, and it is said that prayers made here are very efficacious, attracting a continuous stream of worshippers every day. Seventeen hundred years of trials have made Lingyin Temple a treasure trove of history and culture: the plaque inscribed "Yunlin Chan Temple" hanging in the heavenly king hall was written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty; the stone pagoda in front of the main hall and the stone sutra pillar in front of the heavenly king hall are relics from the Wuyue period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms; the temple houses precious Buddhist artifacts such as ancient palm-leaf scriptures, a gilded statue from the Eastern Wei dynasty, a handwritten copy of the "Diamond Sutra" by Dong Qichang of the Ming dynasty, and the wooden dragon sutra from the Yongzheng era of the Qing dynasty. Lingyin Temple is also where the monk "Jigong" (Daoji) was ordained. In the Daoji Chan Master Hall of Lingyin Temple, a statue of Jigong is enshrined, holding a broken fan in his right hand, prayer beads in his left, and resting his right foot on a wine jar. Lingyin Temple is nestled against the Northern Peak and faces Feilai Peak. Though Feilai Peak is not tall, it features numerous fantastically shaped caves and over 340 Buddhist rock carvings dating back to the Five Dynasties period, making it a rare gem of ancient grotto art in southern China. The temple enjoys year-round bustling incense offerings, especially on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month or major Buddhist festivals, when devotees flock from all directions, creating massive crowds.

Tangjiangyan Camp

Zhuji Tangjiangyan is located by the beautiful Anhua Lake in the southwest of Tongshan Town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province. It is an outdoor development training base with a large area and complete facilities in East China. The high-altitude projects in the base are very thrilling, the ground projects are wonderful, and children's development is full of childlike interest. There are also supporting facilities such as fruit base, tent camping, self-service barbecue, bonfire party and so on. Tangjiangyan got its name from the surname Tang who lived in the nearby village; and because of the steep cliffs, it was shaped like a muddy congratulations. The height of the rock is 300 meters. From the south, the rock peaks are extremely dangerous. The vertical lines cut the Tangjiang Rock into cliff groups, like hundreds of rivers returning to the sea. When looking at the west, the rock walls slump up and down, forming grottoes. There is a red-walled temple built under the rock, protected from wind and rain. There is a water pool on the wall of the temple, and you can get several load of drinking water every day. According to historical records, this spring is white and sweet, and it is named Yudaiquan, but the origin is unknown. Tangjiangyan is mainly composed of dangerous peaks, strange rocks, strange rocks, secluded caves and deep pools. There are six dangerous peaks, six strange rocks, and sixteen strange rocks. One of the mountains is shaped like a big Buddha, like a man-made chisel, and tourists are all amazed. The main rock protrudes up and down, forming a natural cave. Later generations built temples in the caves, which is very distinctive. There is a water pool in the temple, named Jade Belt Spring, the spring water is clear and does not dry up all year round. There is another cave on the side of the temple, where visitors can rest and eat. The cave is suitable for viewing from afar, with a wide field of vision. There are Tangjiang River near, fields and hills far away. Although the main peak is only more than 330 meters, it gives people the feeling of "I am the only one". The six dangerous peaks are Mantis Peak, Shiao Peak, Lotus Peak, Xianzhang Peak, Cockfighting Peak, and Stone Monkey Peak. In addition to Tangjiang Rock, there are also Feizhu Rock, Yingsheng Rock, Yujing Rock, Chengdao Rock and Guiqi Rock. The 16 strange stones are Dengyun Stone, Rat Stone, Sleeping Bull Stone, Wooden Fish Stone, Lion Stone, Platform Stone, Bingxin Stone, Ling Turtle Stone, Cihang Stone, Dragon Ball Stone, Luo Umbrella Stone, Grinding Stone, and Big Knife. Stone, Wanggu Stone, Tilong Stone, Screen Stone, etc. There is also a deep pool in the mountain, which is called Jade Bottle Pool, and it is named after two jade bottles in the pool. The peaks, rocks, rocks, and caves in the Tangjiangyan Scenic Spot are very wonderful, but in order to enjoy the Range Rover, there should be careful guidance from the locals, especially the labyrinth-like caves, which are inseparable from the guidance of the guide. Pillowing on the Motian Tangjiangyan, standing against the wind, surrounded by green mountains and green forests. Not far from the foot is Anhua Lake, which is full of glaze. There is an island in the lake, which looks like a turtle swallowing rice balls, and there are orange orchards and other scenic spots around. In the face of such beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, you can't help but sigh at the ingenious workmanship of nature.

Shaoxing Keyan Scenic Area

Shaoxing Keyan Scenic Area

7
4.7/5
16.4k reviews

Shaoxing Keyan Scenic Area is located at the foot of Ke Mountain west of Shaoxing city, comprising three sections—Keyan, Jian Lake, and Luzhen Town—all close to downtown. Keyan forms the core attraction, having served as a quarry since the Three Kingdoms period. Generations of stonemasons carved mountains for materials, leaving behind diverse stone pits, caves, pools, and cliffs now divided into four main attractions: Stone Buddha, Mirror Water Bay, Yuezhong Celebrity Garden, and Yuanshan Garden. Among these, the "Divine Craftsman Great Buddha" and "Cloud Stone" stand out: the former is a 20-plus-meter-tall Maitreya stone Buddha carved during the Sui dynasty through three generations of stonemasons' century-long efforts, exuding grandeur; the latter soars over 30 m with a top-heavy, inverted pagoda-like form narrowing to a mere few-meter-wide base, yet has stood unshaken for millennia. Yuezhong Celebrity Garden showcases Shaoxing's historical figures like Yu the Great, Wang Xizhi, Lu You, Qiu Jin, and Lu Xun through stone carvings, while Yuanshan Garden features Tang-style architecture cascading along mountain contours—both worth leisurely exploration. Jian Lake, hailed as Shaoxing's "mother lake," has four lakeside attractions: Eastern Han Flute Pavilion, Nanyang autumn boating, Five Bridges moonlit stroll, and Gourd Drunk Isle. Visitors can stroll across marble causeway bridges or cruise on painted pleasure boats and black-canopied sampans to experience "floating through a mirror," with the Gourd Drunk Isle offering huangjiu tastings and opera performances showcasing local wine culture. Luzhen Town physically recreates Lu Xun's fictional setting, with flagstone streets flanked by black-tiled white walls, interspersed with traditional gatehouses, stone bridges, waterways, and opera stages. Street performances like "Xianglin's wife searching for Amao," "Ah Q's rebellion," and "Kong Yiji teasing children" allow interactive photo opportunities with actors. The typical route progresses sequentially through Keyan, Jian Lake, and Luzhen without backtracking, requiring half a day for thorough exploration.

Shen's Garden

7.1
4.4/5
4.8k reviews

Shen's Garden, also known as "Shen's private garden," is a Southern Song dynasty private garden within the ancient city of Shaoxing. It gained fame through the story of Lu You and Tang Wan's reunion here, where Lu inscribed the poem "Phoenix hairpin." His later verse—"Beneath the heartbreak bridge, spring waves gleam green, once reflecting her fleeting grace"—was written about this very place. This tale of star-crossed lovers has made the garden a symbol of romantic longing for many. While original Song dynasty structures no longer remain, current pavilions were mostly reconstructed or expanded on their original foundations in recent decades. The garden's authentic antiquities include a Six Dynasties-era well and the Song-period gourd-shaped pond and earthen hill. Divided into three sections—historic area, east garden, and south garden—the compact site can be thoroughly explored in about two hours, with the historic area as the highlight. Visitors enter to find Taihu rocks engraved with "Poetic realm," marking the start of the tour. The left corridor walls display numerous stone inscriptions of Lu You's poetry, with wind chimes and wish-bearing wooden plaques hanging from eaves. Passing Plum inquiry pavilion and Eight odes tower leads to Six Dynasties well pavilion, where the adjacent gourd pond dates to the Song dynasty. Nearby, Solitary crane pavilion forms the garden's focal point, with visitors often pausing at the "Phoenix hairpin" stele south of it to softly recite verses and reflect on Lu You and Tang Wan's story. The south garden's Lu You memorial hall and Twin trees garden exchange melancholy for scholarly ambiance, exhibiting rubbings of Lu's calligraphy. The east garden, alternatively called "Garden of love," features a "What is love?"-engraved inquiry stone at its entrance, with heart-shaped Qiongyao pond, Magpie bridge, and other love-themed scenery perfect for couples to explore. Shen's Garden shines at night when lantern light casts an ethereal glow. The "Shen's Garden night" performance at Double osmanthus hall recreates Lu and Tang's story through Shaoxing opera, worth staying late for enthusiasts. Adjacent to Lu Xun's former residence just minutes away on foot, pairing daytime visits there with evening garden performances makes a classic Shaoxing itinerary.

Hengdian World Studios

8.1
4.7/5
35.9k reviews

Hengdian World Studios is located in Hengdian Town, Dongyang, in central Zhejiang Province, adjacent to Yiwu, which is famous for its small commodity market. It is one of the largest film and television shooting bases in China and is known as "China's Hollywood." It is not actually a single city, but rather composed of multiple attractions scattered throughout and around the town, such as the Qin Palace, Ming and Qing Palace Garden, Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, Guangzhou Street/Hong Kong Street, and Dream Valley. Qin and Han palaces, Song Dynasty streets, Ming and Qing palaces, and modern trading ports are all gathered in one town, making walking through it feel like traveling back and forth between different dynasties. Films such as "Hero," "The Promise," and "Curse of the Golden Flower" were born in the Qin Palace, while hit palace dramas like "Palace," "Empresses in the Palace," and "Scarlet Heart" were mostly filmed in the Ming and Qing Palace Garden. It is a unique daily scene here to frequently bump into film crews at work on the streets and see extras dressed in ancient costumes passing by. Each attraction has distinct highlights: The Qin palace was built for filming "The emperor and the assassin," featuring imposing high platforms and grand halls—the iconic sword duel scene from "Hero" was shot here, now adapted into the live stunt show "Heroes' duel." The riverside scene at Qingming festival attraction brings Zhang Zeduan's Northern Song Bianliang to life, with rainbow bridges, Bian river, and Song-dressed NPCs roaming among taverns and teahouses; its signature performance "Dream of Bianliang" recreates bustling street life through ancient magic tricks. The Ming-Qing palace emulates Beijing's forbidden city with layered vermilion walls and golden roofs—familiar sights for fans of Qing dynasty dramas—while the multimedia show "Forbidden city chronicles" condenses centuries of imperial history. Guangzhou street·Hong Kong street revives old Canton and colonial Hong Kong (1840s-early 20th century), featuring the lively aquatic action show "Raging sea rivalry." Other areas include Dazhi temple, Pingyan cave dwellings, and Chinese cultural park—each offering unique exploration. The attractions are some distance apart, so you can usually only visit two or three in a day. If you have enough time, consider staying overnight: explore palaces and encounter film crews during the day, then head to the dream valley themed around nightlife in the evening. Besides amusement facilities, it features live performances, "The dream of Taiji" and "Mountain torrents", which are the highlights of Hengdian at night. The film studio has so many attractions that a 1-day tour may only cover 2-3 attractions. If time permits, we recommend staying overnight to explore at a leisurely pace and catch more shows—only then can you truly experience the charm of Hengdian.

Mount Huangshan Scenic Area

9
4.8/5
73.5k reviews

Mount Huangshan Scenic Area is located in Tangkou Town, Huangshan District, Huangshan City. Since ancient times, Mount Huangshan has been one of China's most renowned mountains. Its peculiar pines, strange rocks, sea of clouds, and hot springs are known as the "Four Wonders" of Mount Huangshan. In addition to these, rime, snowscapes, and sunrises are also views that visitors will not miss. There is an ancient saying: "Having visited the Five Great Mountains, one need not look at any other mountains; having visited Mount Huangshan, one need not look at the Five Great Mountains." The attraction is divided into the south gate, west gate, and north gate. The vast majority of visitors enter and exit through the south gate, which has two entrances and exits—front mountain and back mountain—both close to Tangkou Town at the foot of the mountain. The town has also become a transfer hub for visiting Huangshan, and many visitors arrive here in advance to stay overnight. From Tangkou Town to the attraction entrance, you need to take the Huangshan New National Line shuttle bus, which stops at the front mountain gate (Ciguang Pavilion), the back mountain gate (Yungu Temple), and the Huangshan-Hot Spring attraction. Visiting the attraction mainly involves two routes up the mountain, the front mountain and the back mountain, both leading to one of the main peaks, Bright Summit. On the other side of Bright Summit, there is also a loop route — the West Sea Grand Canyon. Front mountain The front mountain refers to the hiking route starting from Ciguang Pavilion to Yuping Tower at the summit (accessible directly by the Yuping Cable Car), as well as the Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak and Tiandu Peak areas at the summit. The scenery of the front mountain is grand and majestic, making it very suitable for enjoying panoramic views from the cable car. Both the highest peak, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak, and the other main peak, Tiandu Peak, are located here (the two peaks open alternately). There are also classic attractions such as the Guest-Greeting Pine, Jiulong Peak - Carp Back, Hundred-Step Ladder, One-Line Sky, and Tianhai. Back mountain The back mountain refers to the hiking route from Yungu Temple to Bai'e Ridge (accessible directly by the Mount Huangshan Yungu Cableway), as well as the mountaintop areas behind Bai'e Ridge such as Shixin Peak, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Shizi Peak, and West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion. The scenery of the back mountain consists mostly of exquisite mountain views, suitable for enjoying on foot along the way. Flying Stone and Monkey Watching the Sea are both located here. West sea grand canyon West sea grand canyon officially opened in 2000. The canyon is deep and the scenery is very magnificent, and it is known as the true gathering place of Huangshan's essential scenery. West sea grand canyon can be entered from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion in the summit area of the back mountain, and after looping around inside the canyon, you return to the main peak area of Tianhai. It takes about 2 hours to walk down from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion to the bottom of the canyon, and then you can take a cable car to Tianhai. Route recommendations The standard way to visit Huangshan is a two-day tour, with routes divided into ascending via the front mountain and descending via the back mountain (front mountain - West Sea Grand Canyon - back mountain) or ascending via the back mountain and descending via the front mountain (back mountain - West Sea Grand Canyon - front mountain). Ascending via the front mountain and descending via the back mountain is suitable for taking the cable car up and walking down, which is both relaxing and allows you to enjoy the exquisite scenery of the latter half. However, since the essential route of the West Sea Grand Canyon runs from West Sea Grand Canyon - Paiyun Pavilion to Tianhai, you will have to backtrack along a section of the trail. It is possible to visit Huangshan in just one day, but the itinerary will be tight. It is recommended to ascend via the rear mountain and descend via the front mountain, taking the cable car both ways, and to either skip climbing the main peaks of the front mountain (Mount Huangshan Scenic Area - Lotus Peak / Tiandu Peak) or skip the West Sea Grand Canyon. Stay selection There are several accommodation options at the summit, mainly concentrated in areas such as Guangming Peak Tianhai, West Sea Grand Canyon-Paiyun Pavilion, Bai'e Ridge, and North Sea. Guangming Peak Tianhai is a great spot for watching the sunrise, and it is also suitable for storing luggage while exploring the West Sea Grand Canyon. Bai'e Ridge is the upper station of the Huangshan Yungu Cableway on the rear mountain; if you typically enter the attraction from the rear mountain in the afternoon, staying here is quite convenient.

There was no real guide at the pinned location, only two person that gave me a qr code to picture it so i could have it for the next temple visit. Also the lady that will accompany to the gate to get through temple security check will tell you that you have to buy flowers to get inside the temple. Flowers cost 39¥. Everything else beside the guide persons was incredible. Totally worth visiting

Perhaps because this is a mountainous area, it has been less affected by modern economic development. A large number of ancient Jiangnan dwellings from the Ming and Qing dynasties are preserved here, where you can see what life in Jiangnan was like a hundred years ago, and it has become a popular online tourist attraction.

The cliffs in Tangjiangyan Scenic Area are very steep. The whole mountain is more than 300 meters high. There is an outdoor expansion base in the scenic area, where you can participate in activities such as rock climbing and camping. There is a temple built on the mountain. Now the scenery in the distance from the top of the mountain is still good.

The West Lake Cruise is a beautiful, splendid journey. Watch the shimmering waters and many passersby. Sit on the boat and enjoy the lakes and mountains. Island Tour Leisure Boats: CNY 70 per person (stops at Three Pools Mirroring the Moon / Santan Yingyue). Recommended Duration: 1 to 3 hours. Walking completely around the entire circumference of West Lake in Hangzhou takes about 3 to 4 hours of continuous walking, covering a distance of roughly 15 kilometers (9.3 miles). Hangzhou's West Lake is famous because it blends natural landscape beauty with over a thousand years of human shaping, poetry, and Chinese cultural tradition. Folklore and Legends: It is the backdrop for famous Chinese myths like the Tale of the White Snake (tied to Leifeng Pagoda).

Douyan, the main peak of Douyan Scenic Area, was originally named Douyan, which means it stands steeply and is rugged and steep. Later generations changed its name to Douyan because its four surrounding peaks resemble the arrangement of stars in the sky. The fun of visiting Douyan lies in climbing. Douyan is famous for its strange peaks, steep rocks, strange stones, secluded caves and clear springs. The huge mountain is formed by hundreds of rocks. "From a distance, Douyan looks like Buddha, and from a close distance, thousands of Buddhas look like rocks." The climate is warm in winter and cool in summer. It is surrounded by clouds and mist all year round, and the mountain is looming, giving people a sense of mystery.

This may be the most beautiful hike I've done in China. The ticket is pricey, with no buses or cable cars included, but the scenery is so extraordinary I'd happily do it again.Catch the first shuttle at 6:40 (it leaves when full), register with your passport, and start up the quiet lower footpat. I saw only three hikers heading up. Once at the top, it's fairly flat to Beihai and Lion's Peak, where the "stone monkey viewing the sea of clouds" is a fantastic photo spot. The West Grand Canyon is the crown jewel. Even in rain, I loved every minute, photos can't capture its grandeur. From Tianhai, follow signs to Bright Summit, then Yuping Tower and down to Ciguang Pavilion. The descent is stunning: streams, waterfalls, and autumn colors everywhere. Skip the bus and take the 1.4 km path to the hot springs, quieter and rewarding, though slippery. It rained for all but 30 minutes of my 9-hour hike, yet visibility held beautifully, truly magical. It's endless steps so pace yourself
