Wiang Kum Kam

It is a remarkably interesting place with an interesting history. The ancient temples stretch over a large area where you can easily get lost without a guide.
So, the opportunity to be driven around in a horse-drawn carriage, where the driver knew the area well and could tell you about all the places you visited, was what made the experience complete. We are lucky actually i am lucky to experience this without any cents since it was a school trip and we had provided with tour guide☺️☺️
This place was also known as 'Ruined City', the former capital of the Mon Kingdom. It is very easy to drive straight past on the way to the airport, not realizing it is there. Once inside you can drive around or take a pony and trap. There is a working wat still on site. The abandonment is believed to have been caused by frequent flooding, as happened in 2005 locals and guide said it.
Not to be missed, if you're interested in Thai history. Surely one of the prime sites to visit in all of Thailand, and certainly in Chiang Mai.
Best done over a number of visits as there are many individual areas within the overall site. It's best to go to the recently opened museum (opened in 2016 I believe), first to get a good taste of what Wiang Kum Kam has to offer. I would advise going round the site on your own using a cycle or motorcycle. Don't miss out on Chedi Liam, a superb stupa built around 1287. An outstanding area, and thoroughly recommended.

Searching for the lost civilization, the ancient city of Wei Gangong was once the first capital of the Lana Dynasty. It was built in 1289 and then submerged by water. It was not discovered until 1984. Before coming to Chiang Mai, I just felt the voice calling from this side. Until the first two days, the name of this ancient city suddenly appeared, and then I yearned for it infinitely in my heart. And I came here because of a fate. On my first night in Chiang Mai, on the way from the Corning Night Market to the hotel, just around the corner, a small open-air bar actually said that the bar was exaggerated. It was a roadside stall, but other roadside stalls sold food and wine. I was stopped by a voice who greeted me warmly. Looking back, it's a warm, warm smile. In this way, I met SAK. SAK is a Turnout driver. Unlike other people's conversations, SAK naturally tells me about the temples and history of Chiang Mai. Well, he likes these temples very much. Yes, I like it very much. There are more than 300 different temples in Chiang Mai, and SAK helped me select several very special ones. Later, I naturally asked him about the ancient city of Wei Gangong. God, he really knew this place. So I made an appointment with him and he took me there. It's 300 baht by Turbo. Less than 10 kilometers from the ancient city, it's in a village. Those ancient bricks, those underground cities that can't speak with words, can't help touching and touching, looking and looking. That piece of instrument carrying historical memory, will feel so familiar. Sak said he planned to go back later and add 500 baht to him. SAK happily agreed. Wei Gangong Temple is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. Because nobody knows, it's so comfortable here. Occasionally, there are Chinese tour groups, and it only takes less than ten minutes to watch the flowers on horseback, so they are not afraid of being disturbed. In the temple, I massaged my local mother, just in the nature. Originally intended to experience horse-killing in women's prisons, SAK told me that they were not professional and that those who really engaged in horse-killing had decades of experience. It's really insight. Originally scheduled for a clock, because it is too surprising and comfortable, but also want to overtime, but there have been local people and other women massage treatment for a long time, unfortunately not continued. It's only 150 baht a minute. It's touching to death. When you go to the temple of Wei Gangong, you can pay attention to Xiaha. In the courtyard of the temple, there are Ma's horses killing chickens. If you encounter them, you must try them. You will feel overvalued. On that day, I spent a very quiet, joyful and in-depth contact with nature in Wei Gangong. Wei Gangong, I will return to the ancient city of Wei Gonggan travel tips - "1, 7 kilometers away from the ancient city of Chiang Mai, you can make a sudden breakthrough
