Fantastic Experience!
We had a fantastic experience at the Abe Eishiro Memorial Hall! Upon arrival, we were immediately ushered into the washi making room where we met with Shinchiro Abe, the eldest grandson of Eishiro ...
This is a memorial to Abe Eishiro (1902- 1984) a world renowned expert in the ancient art of Washi paper making. Mr Abe has been listed as a National Treasure of Japan and had one man shows every year...
Admission fee is 500 yen for adults and 500 yen for paper-loving experience fee. Those who are watching can actually make Japanese paper, so I don't have such a good opportunity, so I would like to take a positive challenge.
There is an exchange with Shiko Munakata, and fine prints remain. In addition, I was able to experience making paper and made a Japanese paper postcard. After the experience, you can see vivid works at the gallery.
A memorial hall for Eishiro Abe, a living national treasure of Izumo Washi, which was awarded by Shiko Munakata. Matsue City is located in a mountainous area in an area built in the Heisei merger. It really feels like a production area of Japanese paper. In addition to materials related to Japanese paper, there are exhibits related to Soetsu Yanagi and Shiko Munakata. Art is not only in the center, but there are many examples in which it blooms when pursuing local characteristics like Japanese paper. The traces of such local art and central artists interacting with each other are big e ... for people living there.
