This time, I deliberately tried the local mode of transportation. I casually swiped my card and boarded a bus I'd never ridden before. It slowly swayed along the route, stop by stop. The bus was full of local residents; an old lady carried a plastic bag full of groceries, chatting with her neighbor about everyday life; a child with a backpack yawned in their mother's arms; the driver drove steadily, even stopping to wait for a cat crossing the street. The scenery outside the window rushed past, slowly swaying from bustling streets to quiet residential areas. The roadside trees grew lush and verdant, turning the entire road into a green corridor. I randomly chose a stop I'd never heard of before and got off. The area is brimming with the vibrancy of daily life. The dessert stall at the alley entrance is packed with people, an uncle scooping up generous spoonfuls of sesame paste, the aroma wafting far and wide. Order a bowl of hot taro sago pudding; the smooth taro blends perfectly with the chewy sago, leaving you feeling completely refreshed. Stroll slowly through the alleyways, watching residents set up small tables outside their doors for dinner, cats lying by the tables waiting for their owners to toss them dried fish. You might take several different buses, getting off and wandering aimlessly, without a destination or fear of getting lost. This random, wandering way allows you to witness the city's most authentic daily life. The ordinary scenery hidden along the bus routes is more captivating than any deliberately sought-after tourist attraction. #NewYearDestinations2026
