Goslar Royal Palace (Kaiserpfalz Goslar), located in the southern part of the Old Town of Goslar in Lower Saxony, Germany, is one of the most important medieval royal palaces in Germany and an important part of the Goslar World Heritage Site. Construction of the palace began in the 11th century. Due to the rich silver resources of the nearby Lamersberg mines, Goslar became an important city in the Holy Roman Empire, where emperors frequently conducted state affairs and held imperial assemblies. The most famous feature of the palace is the magnificent Emperor's Hall (Kaisersaal), decorated with large historical frescoes painted in the 19th century, depicting important historical events of the Holy Roman Empire. The St. Ulrich Court Church next to the palace and the surrounding buildings also embody the solemnity of medieval royal architecture. Today, Goslar Royal Palace, along with the well-preserved Old Town and the Lamersberg mines, constitutes a World Heritage Site, an important site for understanding German medieval history and the Holy Roman Empire.

Wernigerode is located in the northern foothills of the Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, about 90 kilometers from the state capital Magdeburg and about 35 kilometers from Goslar. It has a permanent population of approximately 33,000. The town's history dates back to the early 12th century, initially as the territory of the Counts of Wernigerode, gaining city status in 1229. After World War II, Wernigerode was incorporated into the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). After German reunification in 1990, it gradually developed into a renowned tourist destination in Germany, thanks to its well-preserved medieval cityscape, fairytale-like castle, and beautiful natural scenery of the Harz Mountains. Wernigerode Castle, originally built in the 12th century, has undergone several expansions and renovations, and now presents a Neo-Historicist style. The castle houses a museum showcasing local aristocratic life, historical artifacts, and art collections. Visitors can also climb to the top for panoramic views of the entire town and the surrounding Harz Mountains.
