So I spent a week in Western Australia because Chicago was getting too hot and I needed an escape. August is apparently late winter there. My brain still hurts trying to process that. Definitely had to pack a jacket. First stop was this place called York Town Hall. Super cool historic building, very vintage vibes. Then we saw Wave Rock. It is literally just a massive rock that looks like a wave. I did the fake surfing pose. Classic tourist behavior. But Rottnest Island was the real highlight. The quokkas are actually real and they actually smile. One of them looked at me like it knew all my secrets. 10/10 experience. Also went to Hutt Lagoon, which is a pink lake. It literally looks like giant Pepto-Bismol but in a pretty way. The Pinnacles desert also felt like a sci-fi movie set. Very dusty, very alien. Oh, and Busselton Jetty is ridiculously long. Walked all the way down it just to say I did. Rewarded myself with a massive local lobster at the end of the trip. Best thing I've eaten in a minute. If you go, get a plug adapter. Their outlets are weird.
