Photos of Zhangye Danxia Geopark

The Zhangye Danxia landform was formed over 6 million years ago. It is located in Zhangye city, within Linze and Sunan counties. Zhangye Danxia is mainly composed of red gravel, sandstone and mudstone. Visitors can gaze upon its thousands of cliffs and mountains, dyed a beautiful shade of crimson. When the sun shines down on the mountains, they echo with even more fantastic colors! The Zhangye Danxia Scenic Area was the scene for Zhang Yimo's movie, "A Woman, A Gun, and a Noodle Shop" as well as the famous TV-show, "Amazing Detective Di Renjie".
