A short ride from Osaka and very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere with deers!
A massive park in the middle of Nara. Tons of human-friendly deers roaming around and you can pet and feed them with deer biscuits.
So much fun feeding the deer which run wild throughout Nara but are well behaved. These are wild animals that live in the outdoors so I wouldn’t go petting them for risk of mites etc. feeding them is fun. Hold the cracker at shoulder height and the deer will bow for you!
One of my favorite experiences in Japan, Nara Park is home to hundreds of wild sika deer that roam freely and have become accustom to approaching visitors. Locals around the park sell wafer-like cookies to tourists that you can feed to the deer - and some deer have even learned to bow in order to receive a treat. Do be aware that the moment they see or hear food, the deer will swarm to the person who has it. My friend was eating ice cream and a deer literally got desperately up in her face trying to get a bite for himself. The video is pretty hilarious. This place makes for great selfies, but don't forget these are wild animals - be respectful of their space and their land.
Great place to visit for the day. So beautiful parks and castle /temple. Worth a visit however only for a day since there is not much to do in Nara itself . so many deer all over the place , can bite but nice to see them roaming around everywhere . Certainly worth to see.
