If Intramuros is Manila's most important attraction, then Manila Cathedral is the most worthwhile place to visit in Intramuros. The cathedral with a totally European architectural style has a very beautiful appearance and occasional carriages passing through the doorway. The magnificent feeling is self-evident. Stepping into it, a feeling of the Holy Spirit immediately arrives, holy and beautiful, pious people are bowing their heads to meditate, and stained glass makes the sunshine sprinkled in more colorful. After taking pictures and finding a row of vacancies, just like the followers, sitting for a while, the mood will gradually quiet down with the Manila Church, which was first built in the Philippines during Spanish rule in 1581. In the years that followed, churches were constantly destroyed and rebuilt by typhoons, earthquakes, and the flames of war. The church is now the sixth time that it has been built. It was designed by architects Fernando Ocampo and Archbishop Rufino J Santos in the second half of the 1950s, drawing on the stone carvings and rose-shaped windows of the old church.

Manila Church (Manila Cathedral) is the largest and oldest Catholic church in the Philippines, belonging to the Romanesque church building, showing the authority of the church in a strong, heavy, thick and unbreakable image. The original church was built in 1581, and was destroyed and rebuilt due to typhoons, earthquakes and fighting. The current church was completed in 1958 and is dedicated to the Virgin of the Original Sin. Even after five damages and reconstructions, the church is still beautiful. The majestic interior of the church blends beautiful light and shadow with stained glass, the sound of the largest organ in the Philippines rings in the ears, and the relief of the bronze gate records the history of the church. Every stained glass window inside the church is a biblical story. For non-religious tourists, they can also sit quietly for a while, feel the piety of the church, and seek a touch of peace for the impetuous heart. The funerals of two Filipino presidents have been held here, and they have a sacred and undeniable status. The church is directly opposite the Roman Square (see my notes for details). 🏰 Open hours: Tuesday to Saturday 8:00-16:30, Sunday 8:00-11:30; Mass hours are not allowed for non-Catholics. 💐 Mass hours: Monday to Friday 7:30, 12:10; Saturday 7:30; Tickets: Free on Sundays 7:00, 8:30, 10:00, 11:30, 18:00 💰

Manila Cathedral is a Romanesque church building with a typical Romanesque arch structure. It evolved from the Basilica style of the ancient Roman era. The Romanesque church is a hill-shaped roof with stone and a round arch. It resembles a castle of feudal lords, and shows the authority of the church in a strong, heavy, thick, unbreakable image.

Manila Cathedral is recognized as the main Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines. Located in the Plaza de Roma, Intramuros, its official name is Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica and is the seat of the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila. When Catholicism arrived in the Philippines in 1521, it brought with it the western church architecture. One of the most significant and magnificent churches built during the Spanish colonization is the Manila Cathedral.
