The Dai Basil store on the rue de Barker in the 7th arrondissement of Paris specializes in taxidermy. This store has a small facade. In the window at the door, there are small animal taxidermy such as chickens, geese, and rabbits on one side, and two upright deer wearing jackets and overalls on the other side. The store has been around for over 100 years. Back in 1831, a natural history enthusiast named Jean Bapatis de Basil started a company. In 1888, the store settled at its current location, dedicated to collecting animal and fossil specimens. The Daibasil store is the only one in EU countries and has a great reputation. It not only provides physical objects and wall charts to French primary and secondary schools and universities, but also publishes many color books on animal and plant science knowledge. The store also operates a rental business to cater for special needs such as filming and advertising production. The rental fee is generally 15% to 20% of the selling price of the specimen. A wide variety of prices are not cheap, a floor area is not large. The spacious second floor is eye-opening, with hundreds of taxidermy animals flying in the sky, running on the ground and swimming in the water. As big as lions, tigers and bears, as small as insects and butterflies, they are lifelike, like a "pocket zoo". The store strictly abides by French and international animal protection laws and regulations, and none of the specimens are hunted animals. Large animals are made from animals that died in zoos or farms, and are detailed with birth and death dates, etc. Stores do not sell banned butterflies.
