Stayed at Youzanso during late March 2023. It was during the cherry blossom season. We (family of four) had the room with the Lake Otsu view and private bath. The room was sufficient for 4 of us but I wouldn't call it spacious. However, the room and bathroom were clean. The room came with dinner and breakfast for 4 of us and costed about AUD800. The dinner and breakfast was quite good and would recommend to anyone considering the half board. It might get old if u were staying for few days but we were only there for one night. We toured Kyoto for the day and stayed here overnight then went back to kyoto for more sightseeing. It wasn't as convenient as if you stayed in Kyoto but the travel wasn't long or difficult. The property is bit dated and looks more like a hotel than a ryokan. The facilities are clean but also look dated as well. However, the public onsen is great, clean and the outdoor bath is a must. When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

Lake Biwa Marriott is a very pleasant hotel with a good location on the shores of Lake Biwa, with the enthusiasm of ... staff to please guests even a little. The guest room I was assigned was a hot spring suite with a view of Lake Biwa, and it was the best stay to enjoy the hot springs with a wonderful view to ... late check-out 4PM. In addition, there were plenty of facilities in the neighborhood and the building, such as Nagisa Park (Rapeseed field) and planetarium near the hotel, and there was no boring time for one second. I hope you can take care of me next time in the 2 night class of sightseeing main. I chose Daiwa because of its location is by the lake location and not too far away from Kurokabe distance. Daiwa is famous for good price performance ratio, meaning not expensive room rate yet providing quality room and service. The hotel lobby is grand, and you pick up the bathroom amenities at lobby yourselves. Check in was smooth but you have to bring your own luggage to your room. The hotel charge you Yen 500 for parking per night but give you Yen 500 voucher in return which you can spend in the hotel, not a bad deal. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus service to the Nagahama station for hotel guests if you are not driving. Even taking a taxi from the station to hotel is not more than 5 minutes. The station is just a few minutes walks to the famous Kurokabe Plaza and its surrounding waling streets. Yukata is available on each floor lobby where you pick your selection and size. We were allocated at the corner room which is very spacious, overlooking the lake and the pier, with windows on two sides, and therefore, very bright when the weather is sunny. We reserved a dinner in the booking with the hotel. The dinner is served in the function. It was a multi course dinner with various cooking method of Omi beef, including stew, hot pot and grill, plus a variety of other dishes such as sashimi. Server is very good and the staff are trying hard to communicate with us in English. The onsen on the ground floor is not very big, but the two nights we stayed are Friday and Saturday, so there were extremely many people. There is a souvenir shop which opens until 9pm, a bit early. After we checked out the hotel, we walked around the Nagahama Castle Park which is five minutes walk away from hotel. The castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the sixteen century but the current castle is a re-built. We dined at the hotel lobby tea lounge for lunch. But the meal was probably the worst meal I have ever had in Japan over the years. I think a tea should be fine with a good view of the lake. The location of the hotel, and the service quality makes an ideal choice when staying in Nagahama.

My partner and I thorougly enjoyed our stay at Biwako Hotel. All rooms face the beautiful Lake Biwako and the view was perfect. We even caught a snowfall on one of our mornings here. The staff was great and always friendly even when there was a slight language barrier. We tried their breakfast as well which was really good. Highly recommend renting their electric bikes and cycling around the lake during sunset. And also going for the Lake Biwako Cruise! The hotel onsen is wonderful as well, we will definitely be back

Came here with family during the Sakura season. It's easy to get to the onset hotel. After arriving at the Ogoto Onsen JR station, towards the south exit you will find a cell phone attached to a board with explanation how to use the phone to call one of the onsen hotels. After the call, their shuttle bus will then come and pick you up between 2pm to 6pm I think. The hotel staff in general are very welcoming. Our family scored a deal with their penthouse suite with private indoor and outdoor onsen. Four of us stayed in the suite and the price is only slightly more than four of us staying in 2 regular rooms. It also came with a beautiful fruit platter for you to enjoy. The suite is very spacious with 2 separate toilets. The bath area has 2 sinks, a shower stall as well as a japanese style bathing area connected to the 2 onsen baths (indoor one is a hinoki wood tub and the outdoor one is a stone one. The outdoor onsen does have a slight privacy issue as there are some residential buildings in a distance. While my mom was a bit too modest to use the outdoor one (which I am not and fully enjoyed it), she did take full advantage of the indoor private onsen. Of course the hotel also has a public onsen for the guests. In fact they have two. One in each towers. I used the one on the top floor in the morning and it was a bless seeing the sunrise while soaking in the hot onsen water. Our package also included both dinner and breakfast that were served at their private dining room. Both meals were done in kaiseki style. We were particularly impressed by their dinner. Not only was it cooked with high quality ingredients and with beautiful presentation, they did not skimp on the quantity as well. Often after eating dinner at other onsen hotel, I would not feel full and actually felt a bit hungry later at night, at Yumotokan the courses kept coming and I was completely stuffed at the end. In fact I did not finish the rice even though it was so yummy (cooked from scratch in front of us with a flamed mini-stove). All in all, a very satisfactory experience. I can recommend anyone who comes to Kyoto/Osaka and wants an excursion and experiences the traditional Japanese onsen.

I occasionally stay at love hotels. I think it's natural for two people to take a bath together. The bathtub was a single-person tub (my first experience). It was disappointing that it was too big for two people. The hair dryer was so worn out that the plating around the switch had peeled off. That's fine, but it wouldn't turn on and I couldn't use it. My wife's hair ended up being half-dried when we left the hotel. I didn't want to have to call the front desk to have it replaced. There was a step of about 10cm when going to the bath, toilet, and washroom. I wish it was barrier-free. The price when I applied for and made the reservation on this site, the amount charged by the credit card company, and the price list in the room (for weekdays up to Thursday) were all different, which I found strange. The difference in price was small, so I didn't mind. Overall, I understood that the room was worth the price and left satisfied. (Room only) Thank you.

There is a small lobby-like desk on the second floor where you can check in. You have to carry your luggage up the concrete stairs to the second floor. I think it's a repurposed staircase from another facility, but I'd like an escalator. I guess not having an escalator is a cost-saving concept. As soon as you enter the security area with your card, you'll be in the common area. Guests are hanging out in their roomwear on sofas, chairs, and counter seats by the windows. The security area one step further is for women. The room with the capsule beds (bunk) lined up by the door is dimly lit, and the beds you'll be staying in are lit up with white LEDs. There are also beds with TVs. I felt a sense of self-restraint when climbing up to the top bunk bed. It's difficult to climb up when you're drunk, and quite dangerous. The shower room, washbasin, toilet, and laundry space are all in one room. The layout is rational. There is a smoking room for both men and women next to the common area. I think it's very cost-effective to stay in front of the station at a low price. There was one problem, there was something left in the washing machine that hadn't been washed yet (curtains? some kind of cover?) so I had to give up on doing the laundry. The next day, it was left in exactly the same state, and it turned out that no one had checked it during the morning cleaning. I called a hotel staff member and insisted that they deal with it immediately.

I stayed in a semi-double room for a long time. Since it is directly connected to the south exit of JR Otsu Station, I used it for work that involved taking the train. I didn't feel any inconvenience even though I was built at the south exit, where the houses were spread out, because I could use the nearby underground passage to go to the north exit where there are shops and convenience stores. It's a typical city hotel and the rooms aren't very large, but I appreciate that they have separate shampoo and conditioner, and that they have coffee service that you can take back to your room.

I stayed here because they offered free co-sleeping. The room was clean and the hotel was stylish, but they gave me a printed explanation of how to use the hotel, and it said that pillows and other items for co-sleeping children would be provided free of charge if you told the front desk, but in reality they don't lend them to co-sleeping children. That's just an excuse, and in reality they probably don't have enough pillows because there are so many guests. Please be careful if you are traveling with children during peak season. I decided to stay here after reading the reviews on Google, and the description of the separate bath was good, so I decided to stay here, but it wasn't until I stayed there that I realized that unit bath types are also common. I wish there were more clear options when making reservations. Also, small children were using the elevator by themselves and playing around the drink bar and the front desk. The 'Setre Marina Biwako' oozes luxury. From the moment you arrive at the entrance & check-in, to the moment you depart, you will be spoilt rotten. Everything about this facility is total perfection - the staff, although very formal, are also casual & friendly, the room is very well appointed with great views across the lake with the Hira Mountains in the distance, the facilities are top rate and the food is what you would experience at any top class restaurant anywhere in the world. Tip-1 - when you check-in you are given a card telling you the sunset time and I suggest, if the weather is fine-&-clear, you absorb the great view as the sun sets behind the mountain rage. Tip-2 - pour yourself a glass of red wine, get a plate with some nibbles and head to the roof and check-out the view. Tip-3 - don't be in a hurry at dinner, savor the food, wash it down with a nice wine (it took my wife and I 2.5-hours to make our way through the menu). Tip-4 - have your breakfast in your room. Tip-5 - bring some cycling gear and take advantage of the free cycles and head-off over the Biwako-ohashi (bridge) and check-out the view from the top. Everything is included in the cost of your stay so, whatever your purpose for staying at the 'Setre Marina Biwako, you will come-away totally refreshed.
