Qingdao is served by Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, located about 55 km from the historic centre, and several train stations that connect the city to the rest of the country. The airport has shuttle buses that connect to the main districts and hotel areas, costing around £3.

The high-speed rail network is key to getting to and from Qingdao. Qingdao Station, with its German Renaissance style, is the main one and is located right in the centre, near Zhanqiao Pier and the old town. Qingdao North Station mainly operates high-speed trains to destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan or Changsha.

The metro is the most practical and affordable way to get around the city. The usual operating hours are from 5:30 to 22:00-23:00. To pay, you can use the Alipay or WeChat app, or purchase single tickets at the machines, which accept cash and international cards at the main stations.
