We stayed here for a wedding. The room itself was prefect. (Family room) Large bathroom and very spacious bedroom area. We had a mini fridge with water and milk in, tea coffee facilities etc. iron, hairdryer. Unfortunately we didn’t think the beds or pillows were very comfy. Very large bed but it was 2 beds put together and me and my partner could feel the gap between the beds! Not what we expected. The venue is absolutely stunning! We had the best time. All staff were friendly polite and welcoming. The food was excellent. We had pork/chicken/beef over 2 courses then a cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious!

Each cottage has been meticulously thought-out with décor, furnishings, fixtures and art work. Some of the furniture, lights, ornaments and prints are available to purchase.We have a strong sustainability ethos, although very much on a journey. This ethos has a principle of where ever possible only using local trades, shops and produce. The cottages have ground source heating and all the properties are supplied with Green electricity. We can provide locally sourced meats from our butcher or you can go and meet Carl yourself. Responsibly sourced fish from our Fish Monger and again you can meet Richard if you would like. Milk (in returnable glass bottles) from a small dairy in the Yorkshire Dales (no super herds) along with local Eggs, Butter, Cream and Orange Juice (again in returnable glass bottles) can be provided by our Milk lady, Christine. There are also numerous small Artisan Bakeries, Pâtissier, Green Grocers and other great food and drink businesses in the local area.We realise there is more to do on being sustainable, this is our journey and if you have any ideas on how we could improve whilst staying with us we’d love to hear them. We are more than happy to discuss any requirements you may have for your luxury break and make it personal to you. Most pieces in the cottage have a story such as the wall telephone that is converted to work on modern exchanges, the print of the Darley Arabian that was brought to the UK by a local family or prints from the local world-renowned wildlife artist Robert E Fuller. The cottage stands in the grounds of the main house. The property is gated and you will be provided with your own unique code to allow you to come and go as you please. Sleeping up to 6 adults (2 bedrooms with and a sofa bed in the living area), this cottage has everything you need for an unforgettable break that has the ethos of ‘collect memories not things’. There are two SMART televisions that have Netflix, iPlayer etc and the facility for other pay to view services such as Amazon Prime and Now TV. There is a Bose speaker that can connect to your SMART device via Bluetooth and of course WiFi throughout with your own unique access code. There is a downstairs and upstairs bathroom with fittings by Burlington and a . There is also a large luxury Whirl and Air Pool Spa Bath fitted that will maintain a constant temperature for as long as your in it. The main bedroom has a Super King Size bed specially made here in York along with wardrobe and dressing table. The second bedroom can be set up with either two Single beds or a King Size bed. The settee in the main living area pulls out to a very comfortable bed. There is emergency lighting and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.The cottage benefits from beautiful views of the Yorkshire Wolds and is situated in a peaceful traditional farming village. Its location is ideal for visiting Malton and York (which are circa eight miles away) as well as the Yorkshire Wolds, North Yorkshire Moors and the fabulous East Coast. We also have electric car charging facilities, should you require. Stamford Bridge is only one and a half miles away and has all the amenities you could want, Butcher, Baker, Farm Shop, Pubs that serve food, Bistro, Cash Machine, Takeaways, Doctors, Dentist etc. Stamford Bridge also has a regular bus service to York. Malton is a must for food lovers and is also the place that gave Charles Dickens’ the inspiration for 'A Christmas Carol' whilst staying with his friend Charles Smithson. Charles Dickens’ close link with Malton stemmed from his friendship with Charles Smithson, a member of a Solicitor’s family who practised in Chancery Lane, Malton and shared also in the London firm Smithson and Dunn. Very pleasant staff on check in. Parking free and could spill into Toby Carvery car park next door with no fear of being stung for parking charges. Room had everything we needed and was accessible - hairdryer attached to mirror. Places to hang towels on walls. Plenty of hanging space. Spacious shower and Dove toiletries. Comfy beds. Excellent breakfast. Staff were brilliant. Dealt with spillages efficiently and with a smile and tables were cleared promptly. Only negative was decor was perhaps a little tired. Perhaps a key card entry to access bedrooms although reception was 24 hour. Would recommend 👍

They say Britain has the best countryside in the world. I'm not sure if it's ”best,” but it's definitely good. This house was probably converted from the stables on the owner's estate. Next to it is the owner's own English-style mansion, and at the doorstep is a vast field... It's a shame I only stayed one night and didn't get to fully enjoy it.

From the train station, I walked around half a city. When I left the station, I turned left and passed the cathedral, and then turned right to the meat shop street. Traveled with friends and booked three rooms. We had a very satisfying stay. It's about a 5-minute walk from Shambles and just a 1-minute walk from the new York Ghost Merchants store. The hotel has a trendy, youthful design and a lively atmosphere. On the ground floor, there are arcade games, a pool table, and foosball. Our kids absolutely loved it and didn't want to leave.

Although it feels like a very old house, it's been beautifully maintained! The house is absolutely stunning! All the furniture, bathroom fixtures, and hardware are of high quality. The towels are incredibly soft, so I loved them. It seems to have been renovated. (Before moving in, I was worried about the lack of cleanliness and darkness in old houses, but there were absolutely no issues here.) The breakfast was also excellent, and the staff were very nice.

Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station. Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor. Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out. Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though. I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

We stayed for 1 night, tbe room was lovely, comfy carpet and beds, tea and coffee facilities were provided. The hotel was on a bus route so was ideal, bus stop was right outside the hotel. Would like to stay again.

Very nice guest house! Friendly and helpful guy managing it, high quality and clean rooms, quick check in and check out, excellent stuff. Mind that the walls are a bit thin - no problem for me personally, but if you absolutely cannot stand any form of noise from neighbours you might be disappointed.

We stayed here for a wedding. The room itself was prefect. (Family room) Large bathroom and very spacious bedroom area. We had a mini fridge with water and milk in, tea coffee facilities etc. iron, hairdryer. Unfortunately we didn’t think the beds or pillows were very comfy. Very large bed but it was 2 beds put together and me and my partner could feel the gap between the beds! Not what we expected. The venue is absolutely stunning! We had the best time. All staff were friendly polite and welcoming. The food was excellent. We had pork/chicken/beef over 2 courses then a cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious!

Room was nice and not too far walk from the city centre. But after checking my bank account the day after I noticed the hotel had taken £50.00 from my account. When I called to check, I was told it was a deposit to protect against damage to the room. I was not made aware this was being taken and did not give any authority for them to take the payment. I found this very concerning and I now have to wait a few days to receive the refund. So please be warned before booking..

A few steps away from various monuments,2.5 kilometers away from York University on foot. The boss and his wife were warm and thoughtful, helping to move things, because they checked out later by train, and they readily agreed. The room is small, two small beds, one big bed, up to 4 people, if the family is playing outside during the day, it is OK to sleep.
