Punnamada Resort

We stayed a few weeks ago in pleasant surroundings of this lakeside hotel. Good food, pool and rooms at a reasonable price. The best thing was the lake traditional boat which we hired for 4 nights with driver, cook and all food. It also included some excursions. We explored the lake and backwater canals. Normally accommodation for 2 people but we had 4 with some put me up beds. Viewing gallery on top to watch the world go by. We finished with a night back in the hotel before departing.

Punnamada Resort felt like a serene escape into a world where time stands still. Quiet, not overcrowded, good value for $ for that area. Very nice heritage style buildings. Well laid out. Empty pool. May be different in season. By midrange Indian standards property is well maintained (which is often not the case) and cared for. Staff were unassuming, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We were very pleased with the lake view room. It was spacious and comfortable and we loved the outdoor shower. Staff here were always attentive and polite and clearly well-trained. The grounds were a. Bit run-down, but the pool area was lovely. The highlight was our private houseboat cruise which was one of our favorite parts of our India trip, which was over 2 weeks in South India.

absolutely fantastic arrangements.. Such a beautiful property, very warm and welcoming staff and awesome food... all 17 of us enjoyed thoroughly.. we stayed at the duple villa, which can accomodate four ppl.. big rooms and lots of space..special mention to all the staff who went above and beyond with hospitality and our expectations.. they catered to all our needs and de***ds very promptly and politely... Houseboat arrangements wad spectacular.. spa which we all used was superb, and rejuvenating.. children enjoyed the swimming pool which as pleasantly warm and super clean... rooms were also so well made... the best part was the surprise cake organised the f&b.. my mother in law was so happy.. all in all this was the best vacation that all of us had together.. so thank u to Mr Ajit from the reservatiom team for all the flawless arrangements and Mr Srikanth for the F&B arrangements...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Had a lovely stay, if only for a night. We did a house boat afternoon trip and then stayed in the resort.

Hotel location on bank of river. Very scenic. Room was very difficult to access. The room had a wooden step over a foot high which you had to swing over. The same thing at entrance to bathroom. Bathroom open to outside but staff wanted us to close doors because of insects so no use being open. We had asked for twin beds not provided but housekeeping did a very quick and efficient job of separating beds, getting linen. Lady at reception not helpful at all with regard to getting coffee or a sandwich at 730 am. Breakfast here was starting at eight am only. It was only after another kitchen staff member intervened that sandwiches juice given. He was very helpful. Walkways very dimly lit after 630 pm.

Punnamada happened to us by chance after our initial hotel asked for an unreasonable charge.....and I must thank them for that :-) Right from the get go, everything just clicked. The resort offered us a special rate for directly booking with them and gave great inputs on how to plan our Allapuzha stay. The approach road to the hotel is quite narrow and through a village, but there's a reason, because as soon as you're here, you're literally hugging the lake! The rooms are exquisitely built and appointed. The exteriors are in the traditional style, down to the raised threshold and double locks. We were really excited about the oh-so-pretty, open to the sky washrooms. The pool is large enough for laps, the rec centre equipped enough to keep you busy, and the spa... truly rejuvenating with their vast array of treatments. The food quality was consistent through most of our stay and catered to every palate. Honestly, I was only disappointed by the Christmas dinner. A special shout out to Anu who was our point of contact. Anything we needed, she was there, even giving us great trips for the rest of our Kerala vacation. She took the trouble of coming down on her day off to meet us before we left. Some things to note: You're in the middle of nature, by a water body. The four poster beds have mosquito nets... please use them. Follow the instructions of the staff and shut the door to your open-to-sky washroom at all times. But don't miss out on the resort for these small reasons!

Fantastic location, with ou room giving on the lake. A chartered boat could pick us up just there. Interesting room, antique style, interesting private outside bathroom and shower. The breakfast and meals were delicious (Indian style mostly) Great two handed full body massage for my wife with steam, oil, performed by 2 skillet therapists. Only imperfections would be the difficulty to communicate with the staff in English. We asked the lodge to organise a traditional dances show, outstanding, An excellent place to stop for 2 nights. ***y amenities are offered, a large pool, ***y sport possibilities.
