I almost walked out of Jury's Inn when I arrived in Brighton; I was already irritated by their 16:00 check-in time, and the place felt grubby and tired when I walked in. However, it redeemed itself quite quickly when I dealt with the staff. The ladies on the reception desk were incredibly helpful, friendly and efficient, and Ken at the bag storage made my day with his calm and affable personality. The room itself was clean and comfortable, and even though I was close to the lifts, there was little noise. I never ate at the dining room so cannot comment, but I did have a drink at the bar area, which I found to be a little sterile. It was a busy weekend with many people and families in and out, but the hotel managed exceptionally well. Even when one of the lifts was out, I didn't feel that the staff dropped their pace or professionalism. The hotel is in a great location as a springboard for Brighton. My ”Jury” is still out regarding value for money, but I have no hesitation in appreciating the staff.

This hotel is something completely different than what the pictures show! The rooms are worn, old, and dirty. There was a sweater from a previous guest hanging in the closet. Stayed here for a conference and wasn’t overly impressed. I appreciate they are going through a refit but there was an unacceptable amount of disruption. Long wait at reception to check in. Long queue and only 2 receptionists. Workmen noise during breakout sessions of the conference meant it was difficult to hear speakers. Main lifts out of action and signposting from small lifts to rooms was very poor and I struggled to find my room. Room smelled strongly of paint and had to open window as air con unit didn’t appear to be wired in. Came back after being at dinner to find my towels had been replaced (surprised but thank you) but my facecloth had been removed (it was my own one) and I had nothing to wash my face with. But probably worst of all was being woken by workmen shouting right outside my window at 6.45am. Not what I wanted after a late night. I’m just glad I wasn’t paying for it!

The hotel location is amazing - just 2 minutes from the station (if that) and a 10 minute stroll to the beach. The Hotel was exceptionally clean with brilliant welcoming staff. As other have mentioned, the only negative is that the breakfast choices were very limited. Small single portion omelettes, tinned tomatoes and sausages, as well as cereals etc. However - don't let this distract you. Loved the additional facilities of the hotel (washing machines, the Den) etc. The room was silent - no noise from anywhere. Good powerful but quiet air con.

We stayed in a standard king room. The room looked like it needed a lot of work done (walls, door, windows). The walls are so thin that I could hear the next rooms conversation clearly. The staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was good but I don’t think i would stay here again. Parking was awful, there are hardly any spaces as most the spaces have pillars in them and they are very small to get in to. They also share the car park with another building so there’s not many spaces available considering how many rooms they have. It was better to park in the nearest car park. I’ve stayed in other holiday inns and they were so clean and lovely rooms to stay in. I just think that this hotel is outdated and needs work.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights at the Kings. We enjoyed every minute. The staff were all friendly, helpful and did everything to make our stay just perfect. Our double room was large, beautifully clean and very comfortable. Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice and in a delightful bright breakfast room. The Kings is ideally located on the seafront. We will definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff at the Kings Hotel.

Great little hotel by the train station. Comfy beds and good sized room. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Only quibble is that the room felt a little tired and could do with a spruce up, but overall good value and I’d stay here again.
With incredible seafront views, the 4 star Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel is the ideal place to stay when visiting this historic city. The Grade 2 listed hotel is a grand Victorian landmark with period features, including stuccoes Regency frontage, original mirrors, chandeliers and a high ceilinged ballroom for celebrations. An ideal stay for both families and couples, it brings some 19th century elegance to your stay in Brighton.

Location is absolutely great, the sea is direct in front of the hotel. Everything is at walking distance. The staff is very kind and friendly. When we check in, there is a small promotion where we can get free wine, beer or sodas. Cleanliness is great, the room is spotless although there is a little funky smell but not a big issue. As for the amenities, their shampoo and body wash are in bottles fixed to the wall. But their shampoo and body wash are of quality with meroli and bergamot smell which i just fall in love with. They did provide hand wash and lotion in bottles and fixed to the wall as well. No bar soap, no toothpaste, no toothbrush, no shower cap. Their does provide iron, hair dryer and tea/coffee as well as two bottles of water.

Excellent
GGuest UserLovely hotel and perfect location for shopping restaurants beach. Was very clean and had most of what you need. Bathroom was clean and shower powerful and hot. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty. Staff helpful and friendly. Only negatives were being overlooked by the houses behind so blind had to stay down (room32) bed and room were comfortable but small no vanity or shelf for makeup. A lot of noise from room above and doors slamming. Would recommend and stay here again as the price I felt was reasonable.
GGuest UserAt this price, it's very cost-effective. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the seaside. You will pass by many delicious restaurants and there is a supermarket next door. And the breakfast was very good. I asked for an omelette and the waiter asked if I wanted it soft (medium-cooked). Except for some temporary circumstances, the WIFI was broken and was later repaired.
GGuest UserMy second stay at Selina with my partner, last valentines it was great but this time we had our anniversary. They had a better room available so upgraded us to a seafront room.
But the room was absolutely freezing and the radiator was on a timer so it was off when we got back to the room around 11pm onward. The windows were really drafty and loud from the wind and rain outside and the duvet was thin.
Pretty room and nice staff but pity about the stay. Not the best for a winter anniversary trip.
GGuest UserWe were due to stay here on the 12th August 2022 for 2 nights but just less than 48 hours before we had to rush our son into hospital due to appendicitis! I tried to cancel the room and get our money back but it was too late and I just thought in the scheme of things I was happy that we had taken my son into hospital just in time and he had his operation Saturday morning. I spent 4 days in hospital devastated for my son but also that he missed his holiday too. I thought I’d try and email the owner and appeal to them regarding how unfortunate we were that due to no fault of our own that we’d have to lose our money. Mark could not have been more accommodating. He responded to my messages/emails and helped me receive a refund through the booking agent. If you’re looking for a reliable, dependable and customer focused place to stay - then Ei8ht Brighton is a fantastic place to start.
GGuest UserThere is breakfast, but it is very simple, things are less than the average British hotel, and the price is not cheap, it costs 12 pounds a person. The room is still quite large and belongs to the simple and comfortable one. Walk to the beach for about 25 minutes and there are many bars nearby. I lived on Saturday, so it was very noisy at night. The parking lot is small and has to be booked.
TTravelogue1926If you're looking for a beachfront location with breathtaking sunrise and sunset views, this is the place for you. Our room was on the 5th floor, so be ready for narrow stairs and no elevator if you have heavy luggage. We visited during warm weather and were surprised to find no AC or fan, which is essential for us as Asians. It was our oversight for not checking beforehand. Otherwise, the room was good, and the place was secure for our belongings.
We stayed for 3 nights and The room was a lot nicer than expected. We was in room 14 which was downstairs. We could hear literally every sound, the walls are paper thin but didn’t really bother us. The beds were comfy surprisingly. The room was lovely but could have been a lot cleaner. There was no tea/coffee which I was really surprised at. Had no problems with the shower. The kitchen was big but we didn’t use this. However, one night (long story short) my partner stayed up later than Me, came to bed and shortly after, heard lots of noise at the door, went to have a look and a random stranger came into our room, said oh sorry and walked out. Whether this was a misunderstanding or not, we really felt unsafe after this. Luckily this was the last night. We really want to know how the man got into our room. There is a key safe to every room with a spare key with a Number on a card to open it which you receive at check in. Maybe it’s the same number for every room - if it is this definitely isn’t safe. Anything could have happened, ain’t worth thinking about. We could have been robbed of all our belongings while we was sleeping and/or while we was out. Awaiting a response from the hotel.
LLivesofrealexpatsThis is my favorite place to stay in Brighton! It’s quiet and laid back, the location is amazing and it’s cheaper to stay here than anywhere else. Definitely recommend.
