Our accommodation was cancelled as we were stood on the doorstep waiting for access codes! We had confirmed our preferred check in time with the landlord the day before arriving. We had travelled to London and were having lunch while we waited for 3pm, and I received access codes on WhatsApp. A short time later, we made our way to the apartment, but when I went to the WhatsApp conversation, all the codes and instructions had been deleted. When I called, I was told that there was a leak in the apartment and my booking had been cancelled. When I asked who they had spoken to to cancel and when, the lady simply said she didn't know (which was a lie, as I spoke to her on the same telephone number that the WhatsApp messages had come from, so she was in fact the person who'd sent, and deleted, the codes!). When Booking spoke with the landlord, there was in fact no leak, they had simply overbooked!! We were four women, stuck in the centre of London with no accommodation. I had undergone major surgery 7 days before this happened, having just finished almost 12 months of cancer treatment, and had been looking forward to a relaxing break, little did I know!!
