We found this pub after a lovely walk around nearby cliffe pools natue park and needed a pub lunch .We was very impressed with the service from kayleigh and the food served was very good at very competitive prices with a good choice winter menu. We were full up with the generous portions served here so there was no room for dessert but the lovely kayleigh boxed up a honeycomb chocolate cheese cake to take home with us this also being enjoyable. We would definitely revisit this excellent pub again

It's a pub with rooms above. The stair carpet and decor upto the rooms is shabby. Our room was OK but that's it. Yes it had nice touches with miniature cleaning products, a bottle of water and tea&coffee but....the room needs a serious makeover. The bedding is not good and I felt uneasy getting into it. The furniture is tatty and it just felt very 2*. However the manager hospitality was fantastic and the nice touch taking and collecting from Cooling Castle was very appreciated. (Although I feel there is a cost for this just hidden and built into the room cost). The lady who seems to do everything was very friendly and makes a great breakfast. She couldn't be nicer.

Went for a business trip, the staff were warm welcoming. I had a massive bedroom with a separate walk in shower and corner bath. Food was great and when they found out I was leaving each day before breakfast, they made me a packed lunch instead. Would definitely return.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay on Thursday and Friday night last week. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome ! Staff couldn’t do enough for us! We were a party of 6 attending a wedding at the local Cooling Castle Barn on the Friday. We had travelled all the way from Newcastle , and never been in this area of the country before ! The owner dropped us off at the wedding and picked us up at midnight - at no extra charge! Fantastic! The rooms were bright and clean ! The breakfast was included and was fabulous! Lovely pub, lovely food and lovely people ! Thank you for having us ! Would definitely recommend!

Attending a wedding at nearby Cooling Barn. On arrival to this lovely country pub, situated in a lovely little village we were greeted very friendly by the locals in the bar. The room was lovely, clean and bright and very comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the publican even offered to take us to the wedding venue in his car and pick us up, which he did in his very comfortable vehicle and refused to take any payment. Next morning we were served a very good breakfast by a very charming and friendly young lady. All of the staff were impeccable and could not have done more or been more accommodating if they tried. On leaving we left recompense for the publican and a generous tip for the breakfast waitress as we were so impressed. On top of all this it is extremely good value for money. On leaving we decided we would like to visit again, if not to stay but to partake in some of their delicious sounding pub grub.

This pub/hotel was warm and friendly right from when we got there. We enjoyed a lovely meal on the Sunday and breakfasts on the 2 days we stayed (excellent). They also had transport (both ways) to the venue (Cooling Barn). please pass on our thanks to everyone for making our memorable.

I visited The Six Bells with my husband, for lunch, after walking part of the Saxon Shore Way. We received a warm, friendly welcome on arrival. The pub has seating in the bar area, where food can be eaten and there is also an informal restaurant section. All very clean, warm and nicely decorated. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. We both had the burgers and they were excellent. Service was very good. We really liked the atmosphere and the pub is well supported by the locals. We will definitely return. We did not stay in the pub so can only comment on the food.
