O2 Villas Ella

"This was the most perfect hotel I stayed in during my trip to Sri Lanka; it definitely deserves a five-star rating. We booked an executive villa. Downstairs was a large bed, and upstairs were two slightly smaller mattresses. The electric curtains opened onto a nearly panoramic glass balcony with views of the tea plantations, the Three Arch Bridge, and passing trains. The mini-bar was complimentary, with dozens of tea bags and four free glass bottles of water. Alcohol and other drinks were chargeable. The swimming pool was beautiful and photogenic, like an infinity pool. Definitely choose the option that includes dinner. Dinner was a five-course à la carte meal, very delicious and unique, but drinks were not included. Breakfast also included a very special crispy egg bun. The path to the restaurant offered many beautiful photo opportunities. The only downside was the abundance of mosquitoes. The only two bites I got during the entire trip were from mosquito bites I received while sleeping here at night."

"The most outstanding view in Ella along with the most friendly and happy staff! We couldn’t believe our luck when we arrived at Misty Hills. Greeted by the manager and owner quite late, they were so accommodating and welcoming. We had the most beautiful room with a bed that was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! The food here is outstanding! If you want traditional Sri Lankan food, this is the place. Everything we ate was delicious. I cannot thank the staff enough, so lovely. But the view is the star of the show!!! Breathtaking!"

"Friendly hostesses, very kind and welcoming, no problems. Balcony with a beautiful view of the sights of Ella. The only downside is a slightly dirty bed and something black was constantly falling from the roof and something was running there at night) but this is Sri Lanka, problems with the floor and ceiling are common here."

"Stay away from this hotel! The hotel rooms isn’t what’s pictured on booking sites, the entrance is through a forest on a mountain and through other buildings. The walls is stained, door is leaking, and the room are nasty. The entrance pathway crumbled under me so a nail went through my foot and got several scratches. It is NOT a hotel, not even a bungalow. I would rather sleep with the homeless dogs than stay there one night. We checked out 30 minutes after we checked in. At least the manager was nice enough to give a full refund and drive us to another hotel."

"We stayed here two nights. It is a small ride to get to the hotel, but the hotel itself is totally worth it! We were welcomed friendly and they provide you with a whatsapp number to provide your dinner/breakfast preferences. If you need anything, they respond quickly. Food is good and plenty of choice. For breakfast you can choose between western and Sri Lankan food."

"Great hotel, with unbeatable view of Ella rock on the balcony. However the room did not have universal plug sockets, the hotel provided a hairdryer but did not fit the plug socket. It is also very difficult to get to with suitcases. Fine if you’re backpacking, but carrying suitcases up the massive hill is very difficult. Perhaps the hotel should look into purchasing their own tuktuk to ferry customers up and down the hill. Not everyone is a backpacker!"

"For the price this place was definitely worth it! Is was super close to the Main Street in Ella, though is was a bit of a climb to get there, our tuktuk couldn’t even make it to the top! The rooms were good, though very moist. Nothing really dried, but I guess that’s pretty normal for this climate. I would recommend this place to anyone who’s not that picky with heat and humidity!"
