The Silk Lakehouse, Shangri-La Hangzhou

Based on the former Hangxiang East Building, the hotel underwent a major renovation. Opening this year, the Shuizhixinju is poised to quickly become a strong contender for Hangzhou's luxury hotel scene. Located on the shores of West Lake at the foot of Baoshishan Mountain, the hotel's maximalist Rococo style incorporates local elements. The décor, dominated by the emerald blue of the sky and water, is a refreshing departure from Hangzhou's established hotels. Attention is paid to detail, maintaining a consistent tone and atmosphere from public areas to rooms, making the experience even more stunning in person than in photos. For dining, the Western restaurant offers afternoon tea and drinks in addition to main meals. The restaurant collaborates with the Miaoqian Group, which this year ranked among the top seven bars in the world. The Chinese restaurant specializes in Zhejiang cuisine (mainly Ningbo cuisine) and features a tea room specializing in Chinese tea. The rooftop terrace, which is not fully open to the public, offers panoramic views of Hangzhou's West Lake. The wellness center features a standard gym and swimming pool, whose Balinese-inspired design makes it a photogenic spot. Although the basic room is only a little over 40 square meters, it's beautifully decorated, and the upgrades are generous. The attention to detail, from the soft and hard furnishings that match the main color scheme to the custom amenities and hairdryers, speaks volumes about the meticulous renovation. The entire room has been upgraded with smart technology, maintaining the luxury feel while also offering added convenience. The newly opened hotel also generously provides various benefits and experiences, making it a truly worthwhile experience. With its prime location and luxuriously renovated hardware and software, this hotel is more than just a photogenic destination; every detail has been meticulously thought out. It's a truly worthwhile stay, and I look forward to seeing it continue to improve. :)

A perfect weekend getaway! Besides being able to travel with loved ones, the hotel's amenities are also fundamental to a good mood. I really love the renovation of this old hotel. The feel of a former state-owned hotel is evident everywhere, from the stairwell leading to the second floor to the door curtains in the rooms – it feels like a century of prosperity. The decor is truly intriguing, with a flourishing atmosphere yet never gaudy. Flowers and plants adorn the entire hotel, demonstrating Shangri-La's commitment to style even in today's economic downturn. The room's overall layout is stunning, facing the entire West Lake. Although partially obscured by trees, the connection between the lake and the sky is still visible in the morning and evening sunsets. Wait until the leaves have fallen to return, and not only will the atmosphere change, but the view will also remain unobstructed. The bar is truly unique, perhaps pioneering a joint venture between bars in China. It's a bold yet thoughtful experiment, and the pricing and presentation are exceptionally cost-effective. I visited the pool and gym twice, but didn't try them this time. They were excellent, especially the equipment, the management, the layout, and the dry and wet steaming options. The restaurant was excellent. The chicken rolls and the shrimp angel hair pasta were both delicious. Finally, a huge thank you to the entire Shangri-La service team, including Ms. Iris Zhao, who took us to the rooftop bar, the breakfast team who kept us fed and explained the food, the bar staff who waited for us until opening time, and so on. The entire service team felt like a collection of Shangri-La hotels from around the world. They were enthusiastic and professional. I will definitely come back again, hoping to get a more satisfying room next time. I recommend staying 2-3 nights to fully experience the experience. I wish the influencers would visit less often. After all, they're just passing through. They've been there, but they've never been there.

The hotel's location is excellent, right on the shores of West Lake, surrounded by numerous attractions. The lotus flowers are in full bloom this season. Peter, the hotel concierge, was incredibly helpful, patiently answering every question and helping with luggage. The semi-buffet breakfast was generous, each item exquisite and delicious, and the calorie count was well-controlled. I loved the terrace's sky garden, which offered sweeping views of West Lake. It was an unforgettable and wonderful vacation!

The front desk was friendly and efficient, with quick check-in and check-out. The concierge was attentive and helpful, proactively helping with luggage and providing accurate local information and transportation recommendations. Room service was also responsive, clean, and respectful of guests' privacy. The rooms offered comfortable bedding, excellent soundproofing, a well-planned layout, a great view, and modern amenities. The entire hotel is tastefully designed, with a grand lobby and clean, odor-free public areas. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, the restaurant elegant, and the room service fast and high-quality. The gym was well-equipped, and the pool clean. The hotel's location on the shores of West Lake offers a tranquil setting amidst the bustle, with views of Leifeng Pagoda and Jingci Temple in the distance. The overall experience exceeded expectations and, despite the price, was well worth it. A special thank you to the handsome young man at the front desk, who wore braces and provided helpful information and excellent service throughout the entire stay. Thank you also to Manager Jia.

Vicky, the front desk manager, was helpful in explaining travel options and the surrounding sights. She also arranged a hotel shuttle to the Su Causeway. The hotel's location is excellent, with attractions like Leifeng Pagoda, Broken Bridge, Three Springs Reflecting the Moon, Su Causeway, Yuewang Temple, and the Bai Juyi Memorial Hall all within walking distance. Choosing Shangri-La by West Lake during the summer vacation, when peak tourist season is often associated with traffic jams, is a wise choice. The night view from the hotel's rooftop is stunning, and I recommend visiting on Fridays and Saturdays during the light show...
