The Salisbury YMCA of Hong Kong Reviews

This is my second stay at the Salisbury YMCA of Hong Kong this year. I booked a city view suite this time, and when checking in, the customer service lady informed me that I had been upgraded to a sea view suite. The view was indeed great. The suite is like a one-bedroom apartment; the sofa in the living room converts into a 1.5-meter spring bed, and the bedroom has a large bed, which I estimate to be 2 meters wide.

The best hotel experience in Hong Kong! Convenient transportation, easy access to the sea and shopping. Special thanks to Chris for being incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic. I wonder if it's because it's a YMCA, but everyone seems to be more patient at work.

Terrible experience: claustrophobic room, deafening noise, and rude staff. I stayed at this hotel after a very long 12-hour flight, and the experience was a nightmare. I had booked months in advance, specifically messaging the property to request a quiet room. This request was completely ignored. Check-in & Staff Service: The staff service is awful. Upon arrival, I didn’t receive a single smile or a simple welcome. No help with the luggage, and absolutely no apologies when I complained about the noise. At check-out, it was exactly the same: zero interest, no "how was your stay?", and no safe travels. A complete lack of basic manners and professionalism. Room & Soundproofing: The rooms are tiny and claustrophobic. The first room I was given was incredibly noisy; I asked to change it, but the second one was identical. There is zero soundproofing: you can hear all the street traffic and every single noise from the adjacent rooms, even other guests coughing. It was impossible to get any sleep. Location: The only positive thing about this property is its location, but honestly, it is not worth it at all when you can't get any rest and the service is this bad. If you are looking for rest, courtesy, and a minimally comfortable stay, look elsewhere. I highly do not recommend this place.

Clean and hygienic, pleasant to look at, and reasonably priced with a partial sea view - it's quite good! The only minor points are that the bathroom is a bit outdated, and it's very eco-friendly, so there are no toothbrushes or toothpaste provided. Make sure to bring your own essentials.

I booked a sofa bed suite and was upgraded to a sea view room. Enjoying Victoria Harbour from the room was really pleasant. The hotel's location is unbeatable, and the staff were all great, helping to make up the sofa bed which was quite comfortable. Such a large room in Hong Kong, especially in Tsim Sha Tsui, is a real luxury. The only minor downsides are that the hotel facilities are a bit dated; for example, the charging ports should be upgraded, and I'm not a fan of the shower being inside the bathtub, which isn't very convenient. Overall, I recommend staying here.

The location is incredibly convenient! It's less than a 10-minute walk to Harbour City and only 5 minutes to the MTR station. Plus, there are plenty of cafes, dim sum places, and convenience stores nearby. The price is also very reasonable. Highly, highly recommend!

This hotel is pretty good, especially for Tsim Sha Tsui where space is usually at a premium. I always stay here; the service is decent, and I recommend it. It's clean and reliable, and they sometimes offer upgrades. The short-haired girl at the front desk, the one without glasses, is also lovely; she sometimes arranges room upgrades for me.

Stayed in Standard Room with city view (room number 934) and it was clean, spacious and cozy. The room’s air conditioning, water heater and everything else worked well despite the age of the hotel. They charged HKD5 for toothbrush and toothpaste per HK’s regulations but provided shampoo, soap and conditioner. There was one free water refill machine though the machine was really slow and wonky. The location was good, right beside TST MTR entrance (Kowloon hotel exit) though still a walking distance to the actual train. The gym and swimming pool were of good size. I was hoping to get an upgrade to harbor view room because it was my kid’s birthday, but they provided a panda bear soft toy instead. Shoutout to Rick who walked us to our room and lent us his lighter to light up the candle for my kid’s birthday cake. That really made her day.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, making it super convenient to get anywhere! I was also very pleased with the environment, it exceeded my expectations. The soundproofing was great too, ensuring a good night's sleep! It was a very pleasant stay! I'll definitely prioritize choosing YWCA HoteHostel (Salisbury) whenever I visit Hong Kong again!

Hygiene: Clean Environment: Very convenient Service: Professional Facilities: Complete The only downside is that it's right by the road, so it can be a bit noisy at night. The soundproofing isn't great. The hotel is right next to The Peninsula Hong Kong, and it's super convenient to get to the Star Ferry and Avenue of Stars from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit L6.

We had a great stay at The Salisbury. This hotel continues to provide guests with excellent service and clean rooms. We will definitely stay again at The Salisbury.

After a long search, I chose this hotel for its spacious rooms, affordable price, and good value for money. I booked two rooms, but unfortunately, some of my travel companions couldn't make it. The hotel was completely inflexible and refused to issue a refund. Aside from this initial frustration, everything else was great. They upgraded us to a sea-view room overlooking Victoria Harbour. The hygiene was excellent, and the facilities weren't old. They provided a universal adapter and a separate hairdryer. The king-size bed, advertised as 1.8m, was actually 2m, very spacious and comfortable. The room itself was huge, and the kids absolutely loved it, cheering with excitement as soon as they walked in. The pillows were the most comfortable I've encountered in any hotel. They provide two key cards, so you can still charge power banks and other devices when you're out. The staff, from the front desk to the luggage storage and the greeters at the entrance, all provided excellent service, which was very comforting. The room didn't include toothbrushes, toothpaste, or bottled water, so you need to bring your own or purchase a toothbrush set for HK$5 at the front desk. If you have a lot of devices to charge, I recommend bringing an extra adapter. The location is also fantastic, very close to Victoria Harbour, the MTR station, and the Star Ferry Terminal, all within walking distance. It's also about a 20-minute walk to the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station. I would definitely choose this place again next time, but I'll make sure to confirm everything before booking.
