Batterby House

Booked last minute for $400 based on the reviews. Website said one room left to trick us into booking. 50% deposit required. Upon arriving, this is nowhere near a $400 room. Small, dated, and nothing special. Cannot for the life of me understand 475 reviews all 5 star and 15 reviews at 4 stars. Not one single review with 3,2,1 stars. Impossible. At this point we are convinced Joe is scamming people. I never write reviews, we asked for a refund, he said no. Turns out they are selling the property and aren’t taking new reservations. On top of this, upon arrival Joe says we are the only guests. Hmmm, website said only one room left. This is a classic deceptive sales tactic. This is illegal. They owe us $200 we did not stay there, Batterby isn’t worth a fraction of what they charge. Plenty of other reasonable places to stay in Hudson, steer very clear of this place. My email request for a refund was not replied to. Awful way to treat people. All lies. Stay away.

They owe us $200 we did not stay there, we rented an Airbnb for less that was new, had 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, full kitchen, hot tub, fire pit, massive living room, fireplace. Batterby isn’t worth a fraction of what they charge. Plenty of other reasonable places to stay in Hudson, steer very clear of this place. My email request for a refund was not replied to. Perfect home base for exploring the area. House and Rooms were well appointed with antiques and nice touches. We were in room 4 and I must say the bathroom was as nice as any 5 star hotel. Bed was really comfortable too. Snacks and tea made available for all hours. The breakfast was delicious with nice touches like the starter of a bowl of granola, yogurt, fresh fruit and honey. Host was perfect as well. Look forward to coming back.

We had a fantastic time staying at Batterby House. It's a great location, our room was everything we'd hoped for (including a fantastically comfortable king bed), the bathroom was clean and well-equipped, the host Joe was a great guy! Joe also made an incredible breakfast, which I highly recommend! Thank you, we will be back!

My husband and I had a wonderful one-night stay at Batterby House. The inviting common room with comfy sofas and huge bookshelves were perfect for this early riser. The room was all about comfort, with king size bed, flannel sheets, and both heat and air conditioning so we could have the temperature as we liked. Gorgeous new bathroom with rain shower was much appreciated and unexpected for an old Victorian house. And of course the breakfast was 5 stars delicious. It was also a pleasure to meet the other guests at the communal table at breakfast, all lovely people with interesting lives. Joe also gave great recommendations for dinner and excursions. We hope to visit again soon.

We needed lodging where we could chill, watch some movies, do some work, talk, relax and Batterby House could not have been more perfect. Aside from the well-serviced room - complete with a divine record player and record selection, super comfortable bed and swanky shower - the B&B has the most lovely owners. Breakfast was personalized each morning, and the creations were gorgeous (and delicious). My daughter and I both felt so welcome and cared for. The location is also ideal, steps from one of the town's best restaurants, a short walk to the main shopping area and a six-minute drive to nice trails (wirh sunsets over the hudson views). I really respected all the care that went into Barterby House and I would definitely recommend this inn to my friends and family.

My husband and I booked a last minute getaway between Christmas and New Year's Eve. We arrived a little later in the evening and were welcomed by one of the owners who took great pains to make us feel at home. We loved our room and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious! Joe and Courtney accommodated my allergies and provided helpful recommendations for things to do in town when everything seemed closed mid-week. We had a fabulous time and we will be back!

Spent New Years in Hudson and stayed at the Batterby House. Located about 2 blocks off of Warren Street (Main Shopping Area) so its close enough but far enough to be very quiet. Arrived mid afternoon and Joe was waiting for us. Our room had a separate AC unit which was nice considering it was a warm weekend and we used it as white noise to block any sounds, which we didn't hear anyway. The room was very clean with lots of natural light. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was renovated and modern The break was generous and delicious. We would highly recommend this place to our friends.
