The Phuntsok Khasang International Youth Hostel (Pingcuokangsang Qingnian Lvshe) is a Tibetan style hotel situated in downtown Lhasa, making transport to the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Ramoche Temple highly convenient. This four-storey Lhasa hotel offers guests a venue to buy not only local specialties, but also items from India and Nepal, as well as books concerning Tibet, India and Nepal.
"This hotel is a little gem in Lhasa. First of all, it’s got a lift, which is a must at high altitude. They offered us free breakfast for the first night, but when we requested breakfast for the next two nights (paying), they actually offered it for free as well. The breakfast room has amazing views of the Potala palace.
The beds are very comfortable. There is a large coffee table, a large leather stool and an armchair by the window. And that window has another stunning view over the palace (if you’re on the 5th floor). The bathroom has everything you need, including shower flip flops (although we brought and used our own pair). Toiletries were good too. There were also slippers for the room.
Another nice touch was that they would bring a fruit platter to the room every evening at 19:00. This included jujube, cherry tomatoes, clementines and pears. All brilliantly sweet.
The hotel is very close to the big attractions in Lhasa, including the aforementioned Potala palace, Jokhang monastery and Barkor Street.
And most importantly, they had oxygen in the bedroom. A must have!
Finally, the staff is very helpful. They helped us book a takeaway for dinner on our first night and organised the free breakfasts the next day."
